Abstract

Improvements introduced into an apparatus for feeding sheets of paper to a printing and/or copying machine, the apparatus comprising: a first axis; a second axis mounted parallel to the first axis; at least a first feed roll rotatably mounted on said first axis and a second feed roll rotatably mounted on said second axis next to said first feed roll, said first and second feed rollers having peripheral surfaces forming a distance of grip between them to apply and disengage to the sheets fed therebetween, said peripheral surfaces including segmented parts to provide, in succession, a mating stop for said sheets when said feed rollers are in a first rotational orientation, a drive coupling for applying to and propelling said blades, when they are moved from said first rotational orientation to a second rotational orientation, and a guide for blades through which the blades freely pass, when they are in said second rotational orientation; actuation means for propelling said first and second feed rollers from said first rotational orientation to said second rotational orientation; first means for advancing the sheets, for continuously pushing a sheet to said gripping distance when said feed rollers are in said first rotational orientation and when said feed rollers are moving from said first rotational orientation towards said second rotational orientation; and second means for advancing the blades, for driving a blade carried therethrough by said gripping distance, separating it from contact with said feed rollers, when said feed rollers are in said second rotational orientation.
