Abstract
A method of forming a boron and fluorine-free textile fiberglass, comprising the steps of melting a glass filler consisting essentially, expressed in percent by weight, of the following composition: SiO2 54 to 64; Al2O3 9 to 19; CaO 9 to 25; MgO 0 to 10; ZnO 0 to 6; SrO 0 to 6; BaO 0 to 6; MnO 0 to 2.5; Na2O 0 to 2.5; K2O 0 to 2.5; ZrO2 0 to 2; Fe2O3 0 to 1, plus 2 to 6% by weight of TiO2 0 0.3 to 4% by weight of LiO2, reduce the temperature of the molten glass to a value within the range of fiber formation with a liquid temperature of 1204ºC or less and with a viscosity of log 2.5 poises at 1343ºC or less, and stretch-stretch a fiberglass.
