Abstract

Procedure for the production of a fuel gas of high calorific value, from a gas that contains methane and that also contains small amounts of paraffinic hydrocarbons of hydrogen, carbon oxide and aromatic components; characterized in that it comprises adjusting the proportions of non-methane hydrocarbons, carbon oxides and aromatic components, bringing the gas into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst at elevated temperature and pressure, so that the hydrogen present in the gas reacts with said components to produce an increased methane concentration in the product gas.
