Abstract
A gas pressure regulator has a stepped outlet 13 which co-operates with a profiled closure member 8 to define an annular Venturi, the throat pressure of which is communicated via passage 11 to a chamber 10 between a control diaphragm 4 and a compensating diaphragm 6. The mouth 12 of passage 11 is positioned such that it always faces the cylindrical portion 8a of the closure member. The arrangement ensures that the pressure in chamber 10 falls with increasing gas delivery, regardless of the position of the closure member. The characteristic curve of outlet pressure against delivery is said to be straighter as a consequence.
