Description
- The present invention relates to a method enabling a deduction of the operating steps with which a specialised operator can carrying out a hair-dyeing operation.
- It is known that individuals use specialised operators (hairdressers) to achieve a predetermined hair dye starting either from natural hair (first dye) or dyed hair; in the latter case the dye can be maintained or changed. Also to be taken into consideration is the fact that hair can have white parts which might involve the whole hair (first dye) or part of the hair (dyed hair) starting from the root.
- For the operator it is extremely important to identify the colour of the hair (if natural), or the tint applied in the case of dyed hair.
- In both cases the there is a plurality of colours, which are tinted into various tones.
- The identification of the colour, and relative tone, is of very great importance since the operator will define the procedure for the subsequent dyeing of the hair as a function thereof.
- This procedure is also influenced by the presence and entity of white hairs in the hair.
- It is known that the operator acts on the basis of her or his own experience by verifying the state of the hair, i.e. whether the analysed hairs have a natural or "artificial" colouring and, in the latter case, which colour tint has been applied on the hairs.
- The identification of the colour tint, however, is a subjective datum: the more expert the operator, the closer the identified tint corresponds to the colour nuance really applied on the hairs.
- A wrong or imprecise assessment of the colour tint of the hairs leads to results that are not always appreciated, with the drawbacks that entails.
WO 03/012728 - The pixel subsets are analysed by a colour analyser destined to provide the data of a plurality of colours.
- This data is transmitted to a cosmetic analyser which supplies a determination of the colour and quantities in weight of a plurality of cosmetic colours.
- In the system, after having defined the spectrum of the hair colours, the principle of maximum probability or other statistical methods will have to be used to evaluate:
- If a single colour is dominating over the others;
- If various similar colours are present at the same time and in comparable proportions;
- If various colours, not similar to one another, are present.
- This last case is probable where the hair colour is considerably inhomogeneous due to the presence of meches or grey hair.
- As grey hair reacts differently to non-grey hair to various dyes, it is useful to know the percentage of grey hair when choosing colourants and the processes of colouring hair.
- Definitively, the system comprises:
- a manifold that detects the light reflected by pixels of a plurality of hairs;
- a colour analyser which uses the information coming from the pixels in order to provide a plurality of colour values for each subset of a plurality of subsets of the field of pixels with more than one pixel for each subset;
- a cosmetic analyser which combines the plurality of colour values coming from the subsets in order to provide colour determinations comprising relative quantities of a plurality of cosmetic colours.
- In
WO 03/012728 - The expression "colour code" is never used in any form; further, this expression cannot even be deduced in an "indirect" way, from the analysis of the description, the claims and the drawings.
- It is specified that the system has the problem of defining the "hair colour spectrum" which comprises the colour of the examined hairs, thus also including white hairs.
- In the prior art of the cited publication, the "hair colour spectrum" is obtained, which is determined using all the information from the pixels considered, including the data relating to the white hairs.
- A generic reference is made to the opportunity of calculating the percentage of "grey hairs", as these react differently to dyes with respect to "non-grey hairs"; no parameter is defined with which the presence of grey hairs can be evaluated.
- No reference to a "colour code" is made to define the result of the analysis of the pixels, but only the "spectrum of hair colours".
WO 03/012728 - The aim of the invention consists in providing a method enabling a diagnosis of hair, from which the operator can determine the procedure the operator should follow for a predetermined dyeing of the hair.
- Another aim of the invention is to obtain a method that can be actuated even by an operator who is not particularly expert.
- The above-mentioned advantages are obtained according to the contents of the claims.
- The characteristics of the invention are highlighted in the following with reference to the appended drawing which schematically illustrates the operating steps and the means with which to actuate the described method.
- With reference to the drawing,
reference numeral 1 denotes a device, for example a television camera, for acquiring the image of a lock of hair (C). The operator (for example a hairdresser) "points" the television camera on the lock of hair (C) of a person in order to confirm or change or achieve a predetermined colouring of the hair, or a part of the hair. - The zone of the lock (C) analysed by the television camera (1) has been denoted by the letter (Z): see block (2) of the appended drawing.
- The image of the zone (Z) of the lock of hair, acquired by the television camera (1), is transferred to an electronic unit denoted in its entirety by reference numeral (100).
- The unit (100) acquires the image (see block (3) of the drawing) and proceeds to consider only the central portion (A) (see block (4) of the drawing) of the zone as it has been experimentally established that the colour range of the portion is closer to reality, as it is minimally influenced by the reflection.
- The portion is purely by way of example defined by 500 pixels x 500 pixels.
- The pixels are singly analysed so as to define the characteristics, for example, according to formats known to experts in the sector.
- In the present case two formats have been considered, precisely RGB: colour channels, respectively red, green and blue; and HLS, which respectively identify, for the pixel: luminosity, contrast (or tone) and saturation (colour percentage).
- The HLS format enables detecting the pixels presenting a luminosity that is greater than a predetermined value; these pixels fall over the threshold of "white hairs": the calculation of these white hairs (percentage of the total of hairs in area (A)) is considered by the unit (100) (see block 5 in the drawing).
- The data relating to the pixels relative to the RGB and HLS formats are also memorised (see
block 6 in the drawing). - The electronic unit (100) makes the "average colour" calculation resulting from the merging of the colours of all the pixels in area A, excluding those which have been considered in the threshold of the white hairs (see
block 7 in the drawing). - The electronic unit (100) further comprises a first memory (8) in which the colours acquired by "sample locks" (C1,C2.....CN) are memorised.
- From this comparison, with an evaluation according to the RGB parameter, various values emerge.
- The colour value of the sample lock closest to the average colour of the considered pixels is considered to be the result, or colour code.
- The information relating to the percentages of white hairs (block 5) and the colour code (comparison unit (9)) are transmitted both to a display (10) (which displays the parameters associated to this information) and to a database (11).
- The operator uses known means (12) to send, to the database (11), the information relative to the choice of colour that the user desires for her or his hair (or a part thereof).
- The above-mentioned database memorises the information which as a function of the result (i.e. the colour code), of the percentage of white hairs, and of the colour that is to be applied to the hair, provides, for example, via the display (13), the procedure that an operator is to follow for dyeing the hair.
- This information derives from both the prior art and from the experience of one or more operators who can implement and/or modify this information as a function of their creativity.
- By way of non-limiting information, the electronic unit (100) can be actuated in devices such as smartphones and tablets with IOS and Android operating systems.
- Definitively, the invention relates to a method for obtaining a procedure which an operator is to follow for dyeing hair which, by means of a digital database, is actuated as a function:
- of the colour code of the hair;
- of the value indicating the percentage of white hairs that are present in the hair;
- and of the colour that is to be applied to the hair.
- Further, in determining the colour code the pixels falling within the white hair range are not considered.
- Some examples are described in the following.
- The operator scans the hair using the device (1); the image of zone Z is acquired by the unit (100).
- The display (10) informs that:
- the colour of the hair detected is natural chestnut (4.0), with 70% of white hair.
- The following information is sent via the known means (12) to the database (11): the colour the client desires is strawberry blond (7.4).
- The relative procedure is shown on the display (13), i.e:
applying the tint 7.4, using a 20-volume bleach on all the hair, with a processing time of 35 minutes. - Following the scanning of the hair using the device (1) and the activation of the unit (100), the display (10) informs that the hair is natural chestnut (4.0), with the absence of white hairs.
- With the intention of obtaining strawberry blond (7.4), the following is required: using a 30-volume bleach, to be applied to the tips, with a processing time of 10-20 minutes. Following this, the tint 7.4 is applied, using a 20-volume bleach on all the hair, with a processing time of 30 minutes.
- Via the device (1) and the unit (100), the display (10) shows that the colour of the hair is: very light blond (10.0) with the absence of white hairs.
- The database (11) is informed, via the known means (12), that the client wishes to have a chestnut (4.0) colour.
- From the display (13), the operator notes that:
- a re-pigmentation is required, by applying a copper-red tint directly on all the hair;
- following this, a tint 4.0 is applied, using a 10-volume bleach on all the hair, with a processing time of 35 minutes.
- After scanning a zone of a lock of hair and having activated the unit (100), the following information is obtained:
- Detected colour of the hair: dyed chestnut (4.0);
- The desired colour is strawberry blond (7.4).
- This last datum is transmitted to the database (11) via known means (12).
- The following information is legible on the display (13):
- carry out a colour removal with foil using the 20-volume decolourant; every 15 minutes the effect of decolouration is controlled up to obtaining the desired result;
- rinse the hair with a specific shampoo;
- re-scan the hair (with activation of the unit 100) to check on the tint obtained by means of the decolouration, and then carry out the procedure according to what is reported in the display (13).
- Definitively, with the proposed method the state of the hair is detected objectively, i.e. whether the colour is natural or dyed, the colour of the hair, the presence or not of white hairs, the percentage of white hairs if detected.
- Further, the colour detected is compared with the colour of the sample locks, the value of one of these is selected as the colour code on the basis of which it is obtained, by means of the database (11), the procedure for the dyeing of the hair.
- The database also memorises the information deductible from the properties of the products on sale in the market.
- It is obvious that when a new product is introduced to the market, the database can be updated.
- It is understood that the above has been described by way of example and that technical-functional variants are considered to fall within the protective scope of the invention as claimed in the following.
