Claims (5)

  1. A personalizable security element comprising a carrier substrate and an optically variable layer, wherein the security element has the following layer sequence:
    a) a carrier substrate consisting of a flexible plastic film having a laser-writeable black metal coating,
    b) optionally a laminating adhesive layer
    c) a layer of color-shifting effect lacquer,
    characterized in that the security element has a laser writing, wherein the black metallic coating is destroyed and a color-shifting effect of the color-shifting effect lacquer is barely or not at all discernible in a region (10) in which the security element has the laser marking, wherein the color-shifting effect is clearly and brilliantly discernible inside a region (11) in which the security element has no laser marking.
  2. The security element according to claim 1, characterized in that the laser-writeable metallic coating consists of non-stoichiometric metal oxides or mixtures of metals and metal oxides.
  3. The security element according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the color-shifting effect lacquer consists of a printing ink containing interference pigments.
  4. A method for producing a personalizable security element, characterized by the following method steps:
    a) providing a first carrier substrate made of a flexible plastic film, which hast a laser-writeable black metallic coating on a surface
    b) providing a second carrier substrate made of a flexible plastic film
    b1) applying a color-shifting effect lacquer layer to the second carrier substrate
    c1) optionally applying a laminating adhesive layer to the color-shifting effect lacquer layer
    d1) laminating the layer structure of the first carrier substrate to the layer present on the second carrier substrate
    e1) removing the second carrier substrate
    f1) writing the security element with a laser beam, whereby the color-shifting effect of the color-shifting effect lacquer layer is eliminated in the region of printing.
  5. A use of the security elements according to one of claims 1 to 3 as security elements or security labels in or on data carriers, products, or packaging.
