Die handelsfertige Gebindepackung ist entsprechend Fig. 2 oder entsprechend Fig. 5 ausgebildet. Dabei ist es zweckmäßig, mindestens die jeweils am Ende der Umhüllung 22 angeordneten Zigarettenpackungen 10, also insbesondere die mit einem Teilbereich aus der Umhüllung 22 herausragenden Zigarettenpackungen (Fig. 2) innerhalb der Umhüllung 22 lösbar zu fixieren, vorzugsweise durch eine leicht lösbare Leimverbindung, zum Beispiel durch punktförmige Haftkleber. Multipack for cigarettes, having a pack group (19) made up of a plurality of cigarette packs (10) which are located one beside the other in at least two pack rows (20, 21) and butt against one another, within a pack row (20, 21), by way of narrow side walls (15, 16) and, from row to row, by way of large-surface-area front walls (13) and rear walls (14), wherein the pack group (19) is enclosed by at least one multipack blank which forms a wrapper (22), which consists of thin cardboard or similar packaging material and has transversely directed weakening lines (31) which run all the way round it and are spaced apart from one another by a distance corresponding to the width of the front wall (13) or rear wall (14) of a cigarette pack (10) such that, with the aid of the weakening lines (31), it is possible to sever sub-wrappers or wrapper portions (32), including the at least two cigarette packs (10) enclosed thereby, characterized by the following features:
a) the wrapper (22) is designed as a cross-sectionally rectangular sleeve which is open at both ends,

b) the dimensioning of the wrapper (22) is smaller in the longitudinal direction than the dimensioning of the pack group (19), in particular reduced by the transverse dimensioning of an individual cigarette pack (10),

c) the pack group (19) is enclosed by the wrapper (22) such that, at both ends, a sub-region of peripheral cigarette packs (10), in particular approximately half the cigarette pack (10) per pack row (20, 21), that is to say half the width of the front wall (13) or rear wall (14), projects out of the wrapper (22),

d) in the starting position, that is to say prior to the multipack being opened for the first time, the transversely directed weakening lines (31) are arranged in an offset manner in relation to transversely directed parting planes between adjacent pairs of cigarette packs (10) such that, once two adjacent cigarette packs (10) have been removed and the rest of the cigarette packs (10) have been displaced within the wrapper (22) until they are aligned flush with the wrapper (22), the perforation lines (31) are arranged in the parting plane between adjacent pairs of cigarette packs (10),

e) the pack group (19), including wrapper (22), is enclosed on all sides by an outer blank (27) which is made of transparent film and has a tear-open strip (29).
Pack according to Claim 1, characterized in that an essentially rectangular blank for the wrapper (22) forms peripheral flaps (34, 35) which, to form the lower wall (26) of the wrapper (22), are arranged with mutual overlapping and are connected to one another by adhesive bonding.
Pack according to Claim 1, characterized in that the outer wrapper or the outer blank (27) consists of a shrink-wrapping film and encloses the wrapper (22) or the pack group (19) under tensioning.
