Description

  • The present invention relates to an oven comprising a mounting member.
  • The assembly of oven doors onto the body is a critical issue. Because, when the door is not fully closed, heat exchange is caused in the cooking chamber and this causes energy loss. The most important reason for the door not to be fully closed onto the body is that the hinge, forming the only connection between the door and the body, cannot be fixed onto the body in a secured and proper manner.
  • In the state of the art European Patent Application No EP1643189 , a triangular traverse, which is oppositely assembled on the base of the oven, is explained.
  • In the state of the art European Patent Application No EP1426693 , a connection member which is fixed to the oven side wall, is explained. In this embodiment, the hinge body is located on the door and the hinge portion entering into the body is fastened onto the connection member.
  • In the state of the art embodiments wherein the hinge body is fixed to the oven body in order that the door weight is reduced, the hinge body is required to be assembled to the body in a safer and more secured manner.
  • United States Patent US 2 072 820 discloses an oven with a front door that rotates about a rotation axis and that comprises a hinge member which is firmly fixed to the door and extends into the interior of the oven casing. One branch of a spring is connected to the hinge member and moves with it when the door is opened, while the other branch of the spring is fixed to a triangular hinge-plate.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven having a mounting member which provides the hinge body to be assembled to the body in a correct and safe manner.
  • The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a mounting member which is fixed to the base and the front wall, and whereon the hinge body is fixed.
  • By using the mounting member, the weak connection between the body and the hinge body, caused by the front wall being enameled, is provided to be formed in a safer and more secured manner. By means of the secured and safe assembly of the hinge to the body, heat and energy losses are prevented by the door being fully closed onto the body.
  • The mounting member is preferably right-triangular and thus, by a single mounting member, connections are provided to be performed both in the horizontal plane and in the vertical plane.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, on the horizontal edge end, the mounting member comprises a support member, against which the hinge body bears. By means of this support member, the element performing the assembly of the hinge body to the mounting member provides these two pieces to be assembled by easily aligning such that their fixing holes will correspond.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, on its horizontal edge, the mounting member comprises embossment-shaped protrusions which extend towards the inside of the body. The fixing holes on the horizontal edge of the mounting member are located on these protrusions. The distance, which occurs due to the housing being situated slightly inwards from the front wall edges, between the hinge body and the mounting member is provided to be closed by means of these protrusions and thus, the two pieces are provided to be fixed such that they will bear against each other.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven comprises two profiles which provide the two side walls and the front wall to be connected to each other. Due to this profile used particularly in free standing ovens, the wall thickness of the profile is added to the wall thickness of the front wall. This causes a gap to be formed between the hinge body and the mounting member. In this embodiment, in order that this distance is closed and the hinge body and the mounting member can fully bear against each other, the mounting member comprises one or more steps which are located on the horizontal edge and which extend outwards from the body.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the mounting member comprises a depression which is formed between the horizontal and the vertical edges and which provides the mounting member to be strengthened against forces that can act on the mounting member from different directions.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven comprises a rest means which is formed on the base by depressing the base inwards and against which the hinge body, passing through the housing, bears. Thus, the hinge body is provided to be fully seated onto the base.
  • By means of the present invention, the door is provided to fully close the body by the hinge being assembled onto the body in a safe, correct and fast manner and thus, energy loss is provided to be eliminated.
  • The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
    • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of an oven.
    • Figure 2 - is the perspective view of a door.
    • Figure 3 - is the rear view of a mounting member.

  • The oven (1) of the present invention comprises a cooking chamber (2) wherein foods to be cooked are disposed, a body (3) that has a ceiling, a base (6), a rear wall, a frame-shaped front wall (4) and two side walls (5), all of which surround the cooking chamber (2), and that is formed by joining the base (6), ceiling, rear wall (not illustrated in the figures), front and side walls (4 and 5); an opening (7) which is located on the front wall (4) and which allows access to the cooking chamber (2), a door (8) which is opened by rotating around the horizontal axis and which provides the opening (7) to be closed, two housings (12) which are located on both sides of the front wall (4), and two hinges (9) that have a hinge body (10) passing through the housing (12) and a hinge arm (11), one end of which is fixed to the hinge body (10) and the other end to the door (8), and that provide the door (8) to be opened and closed as a result of the movement of the hinge body (10) and the hinge arm (11) with respect to each other (Figure 1).
  • The hinge body (10) has a spring and a pin, connected to each other, which are positioned therein. Therefore, the hinge body (10) has a heavier and longer structure in comparison to the hinge arm (11).
  • The oven (1), furthermore, comprises a right-triangular mounting member (13) which has at least two edges (H and V) vertical to each other, and as being parallel to the side wall (5), is fixed to the base (6) through the slope formed by the mounting member (13) horizontal edge (H) and the base (6) side edge being vertically bent inwards, and to the front wall (4) through the slope formed by the mounting member (13) vertical edge (V) and the front wall (4) side edge being vertically bent inwards, and whereon the hinge body (10) is fixed. The mounting member (13) has more than one fixing hole on its vertical and horizontal edges (V and H) (Figure 2 and Figure 3).
  • Thus, the hinge (9) and hence the door (8) is provided to be positioned in a correct manner. Fixing of the hinge body (10) both to the front wall (4) and to the base (6) by means of the mounting member (13) provides the door (8) to be assembled to the body (3) in a safer and more secured manner. Furthermore, also the deformations, which can occur on the front wall (4) by the effect of the forces exerted on the housing (12) wall during the opening and closing of the door (8) since the housing (12) located on the enameled front wall (4) cannot be shaped as desired, are provided to be prevented. Besides, since the door (8) can be fully closed onto the front wall (4), the heat exchange in the cooking chamber (2) is minimized and therefore, energy loss is prevented.
  • After the front wall (4) is fixed vertically on the base (6), the hinge (9) is mounted onto the front wall (4) such that the hinge body (10) will pass through the housing (12). While the vertical edge (V) of the mounting member (13) is fixed by means of fixing elements by being aligned at the same level with the fixing holes on the front wall (4) slope, at the same time, the horizontal edge (H) of the mounting member (13) is fixed by means of fixing elements by being aligned at the same level with the fixing holes on the base (6) slope. In this situation, the mounting member (13) is fixed both to the base (6) and to the front wall (4). Also the hinge body (10) passing through the housing (12) is aligned with the horizontal edge (H) of the mounting member (13) such that the fixing holes will overlap, and is fixed thereto by means of fixing elements. After this stage, the assembly of the body (3) is completed by the side and rear walls and the ceiling being assembled, and finally, the assembly of the oven (1) is completed by the hinge arm (11) being mounted to the door (8) (Figure 4, Figure 5, Figure 6 and Figure 7).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the mounting member (13) comprises a support member (14) which is located on the end of the horizontal edge (H) and which extends preferably vertically to the mounting member (13), and against which the end of the hinge body (10) bears. The assembly of the hinge (9) to the mounting member (13) through the hinge body (10) is performed before the side wall (5) is assembled and from the other side of the mounting member (13) by means of fixing elements. In this situation, the fixing holes on the hinge body (10) and the fixing holes on the mounting member (13) are required to be corresponded. While the hinge (9) is mounted to the front wall (4) by the hinge body (10) being passed through the housing (12), the hinge body (10) is translated in the housing (12) until it bears against the support member (14). When the hinge body (10) bears against the support member (14), the fixing holes on the hinge body (10) and on the mounting member (13) are aligned at the same level and the hinge body (10) is easily assembled onto the mounting member (13), hence the hinge (9) is easily assembled onto the body (3) by the person performing the assembly. Thus, the person performing the assembly completes the assembly of the hinge (9) to the body (3) by assembling the mounting member (13) and the hinge body (10) in a correct manner without encountering an alignment problem thereof.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, near its horizontal edge (H), the mounting member (13) comprises one or more embossment -shaped protrusions (15) whereon fixing holes are located and which are formed by the mounting member (13) being exploded towards the inside of the body (3). The housing (12) is located slightly inwards - approximately 7 mm - from the front wall (4) edges. Therefore, in order that the mounting member (13) fixed to the front wall (4) and the hinge body (10) can bear against each other when the hinge body (10) is inserted through the housing (12), protrusions (15) extending up to the level of the housing (12) edge are used. The protrusions (15) bear against the hinge body (10) passing through the housing (12) and the hinge body (10) is assembled to the mounting member (13) through the fixing holes on the protrusions (15) by means of fixing elements.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven (1) comprises two profiles (19) which provide the two side walls (5) and the front wall (4) to be connected to each other. This profile (19) is used particularly in free standing ovens. In this situation, between the mounting member (13), fixed to the base (6) slope, and the hinge body (10), a distance as much as the wall thicknesses of the profile (19) and of the front wall (4) is added to the distance occurring as a result of the housing (12) being situated inwards from the front wall (4) edge. While the part, which is between the housing (12) and the front wall (4), of this distance between the hinge body (10) and the mounting member (13) is eliminated by means of the protrusion (15); in order that the distance part occurring due to wall thicknesses of the profile (19) and of the front wall (4) is eliminated, the mounting member (13), in this embodiment, comprises one or more steps (16) which are located on the horizontal edge (H) and which are provided by the mounting member (13) being bent towards the base (6) slope. Thus, the edge of the hinge body (10), passing through the housing (12), bears fully against the mounting member (13).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the mounting member (13) comprises one or more depressions (17) which are formed between the horizontal and the vertical edges (H and V). The depression (17) provides the mounting member (13) to be strengthened against forces that can act on the mounting member (13) from different directions.
  • In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the oven (1) comprises a rest means (18) which is formed on the base (6) by exploding the base (6) inwards and against which the hinge body (10), passing through the housing (12), bears. Thus, the hinge body (10) is provided to be fully seated onto the base (6).
  • By means of the present invention, the door (8) is fully closed onto the body (3) by the hinge (9) being assembled onto the body (3) in a safe, correct and fast manner and thus, energy loss is eliminated.
  • It is to be understood that the said present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and an expert in the technique can easily introduce different embodiments. These different embodiments should be considered within the scope of the claims of the present invention, too.
