- Service switching device having a housing in which a switching mechanism (10) which can be moved from a latching state to an unlatching state by a release lever (30) is installed, wherein the switching mechanism (10) is fitted underneath the housing wall (2) in the region in which a release lever actuating part (12) which can be pivoted in a plane parallel to the housing wall (2) is provided, and wherein a pin (123), which points towards the release lever (30) of the switching mechanism (10), is fitted to the release lever actuating part (12), so that, when the release lever actuating part (12) pivots, the release lever (30) of the switching mechanism (10) can be held in its unlatching position by the pin (123), wherein the release lever (30) is a double-armed lever with a latching arm (301) which has a lug (304) at its free end, said lug, in the latched state, interacting with the latching surface of the catch lever (27), and with a release arm (303) on which a projection (305) protrudes in the vicinity of the rotation axis and approximately at a right angle from the release arm (303) in the direction of the housing wall (2) of the switching device, it being possible for the pin (123) of the release lever actuating part (12) to be coupled to the said projection in the switched-off position and it thereby being possible for the release lever (30) of the switching mechanism (10) to be held in its unlatching position by the pin (123), wherein the release lever actuating part (12) comprises an approximately cylindrical main body (121) which can rotate about a stationary rotation axis (122) in a recess in the housing wall and thereby is mounted, such that it can pivot about the axis (122), in a plane which is parallel to the housing wall, characterized in that the release arm has a lug (304) on which a thermal release of the service switching device acts, and in that the rotation axis (122) of the release lever actuating part is oriented approximately perpendicular to the direction of the longitudinal extent of the release lever (30).
