Piston pump (1), in particular dual piston pump, for generating a delivery flow substantially free of pulsation, and method for controlling such a piston pump wherein measuring sensors (13) detecting mechanical forces or moments transmitted by the structure of the pump or its associated drive unit (8,10) are used.
