Abstract
Description
- The subject of invention is a tilting roof window designed in particular for attics.
- Double-function tilting-swinging roof window is known, with window frame, in which window sash is embedded with the use of intermediate frame. Intermediate frame comprises three members connected with each other at the right angle, and in the closed window position it is situated between the window frame and sash. Intermediate frame is mounted pivotally in the upper part of the window, so that its tilting axis is situated in the vicinity of the upper members of the window frame and intermediate frame, at the glazing surface and it does-not change its position when the window is tilted. In the intermediate frame, at free ends of the side members window sash is mounted pivotally, so that axis of sash turn in relation to intermediate frame is situated at half of the sash's height and when it is pivoted it does not change its position and remains in a constant, close distance to glazing surface. Window sash is blocked against rotating in relation to intermediate frame by a blocking element, which is located in the middle of the upper members of the window sash frame and intermediate frame. Whereas upper edges of window sash are not supported and may fall towards the interior under their own weight as a result of frame members warping. Tilting function of this roof window is activated by turning handle located in the lower member of the window sash, which releases connection of sash with window frame and exerts pressure on the lower part of the sash. Intermediate frame moves than together with window sash, because it is connected with it by a blocking element. Swinging function of roof window is activated by turning handle, which releases connection of window sash with window frame and pulling a grip of blocking element, located on the upper member of the window sash, which releases connecting of the sash with intermediate frame. In this moment both functions of the window, tilting and swinging, are available simultaneously. Continued pulling of the blocking element's grip will cause a desired rotation of the window sash. While exerting a pressure on the middle part of the sash will lift the sash over roof surface on intermediate frame, as on extension arm. In such situation connection of window members will lose desired rigidity and stability.
- From the description in the notice of invention No. P.363210 also two-function tilting-swinging roof window is known, with window frame, in which window sash is embedded with the use of intermediate frame, favourably in form of two parallel intermediate arms. Upper endings of intermediate frame arms are mounted pivotally in side members of the window frame, right at its upper member, and window sash is connected pivotally connected in the middle part with lower ends of intermediate frame arms, whereas tilting axis does not change its position while tilting and swinging axis does not change its position within certain ranges of window opening angle and is situated in a very close distance to glazing surface. Also tilting-swinging roof window is known with window frame equipped with corner fixtures ended with profile members coupled with lifting mechanism system comprising swivel and set of lower and upper actuators. Corner fixture has a set of levers, which is connected pivotally by second ends with the arm, where also swivel and one end of upper actuator are connected. Profile member constitutes a base of the lower actuator and has a catch cooperating with sliding member fixed in a slidable manner on the arm's recess. Bordering fixture is equipped with window function selector, and on both ends it has blocking devices consisting of a seat fastened to window sash, locking member connected with movable slat, where locking member is coupled with blocking bolt permanently fastened in the arm and movable bolt embedded in a slidable manner in the recess of this arm.
- Inconvenience of the known solutions of swinging and tiltable-swinging roof windows is the necessity of equipping them with special mechanisms and fixtures required for changing the way of opening and non-optimal tightness of connection between window sash and window frame and deformation of upper sash part caused by its own weight.
- Unexpectedly it turned out that equipping window sash with put-aside mechanism and its rotation allows for applying in roof windows adhering structure of window sash with window frame characterised by optimal parameters of tightness and thermal isolation.
- The essence of tilting roof window, according to the invention is the fact, that window sash has an adhering structure of embedding in window frame and is equipped with mechanism for its putting aside and rotating over upper surface of window frame. Putting aside and turning mechanism consists of sliding track system fastened permanently over adhering surface of window frame cooperating with a set of profile members embedded in the upper edges of window. Window frame has circumferential projection situated in the area of contact with adherence surface of window sash. Window frame is equipped with section cooperating with protrusion fastened to window sash. Arms have blocking stops, which correspond in shape with profile elements fastened to window sash.
- Advantage of construction of tilt roof window, according to the invention is achieving optimal parameters of window utilisation connected with achieving tightness and thermal isolation.
- Another advantage is simplicity of construction, which allows for changing window function in an easy way, from tilt position to swing position, without necessity of equipping with special fixtures and rotation mechanisms.
- Tilting roof window is presented in the drawing, in which
Fig. 1 presents the window in partial cross-section and side look, andFig. 2 presents cross-section of the upper part of window sash profile and window frame, whileFig. 3 presents window frame with sliding track in a cross-section. - Tilting roof window has
window frame 1 andsash window 2 with adhering structure of embedding in this window frame.Window sash 2 is connected in its upper part with window frame with the use oftiltable arms 3.Arms 3 are connected on one end pivotally with theedge fixture 4 in relation to tilting axis located in the vicinity of the upper member ofwindow frame 1 with the use ofpins 5. Second ends of thearms 3 are connected withrotating hinge 6, which also connectswindow sash 2. Thearms 3 are equipped with lifting mechanism in form ofactuator 7. -
Window frame 1 is equipped with window sash putting aside and rotatingmechanism 2, which constitutes asliding track system 8 in form of longitudinal profile members permanently fastened over adherence surface of this window frame cooperating with a set ofprofile elements 9 embedded in the upper edges ofwindow sash 2. -
Window frame 1 hascircumferential projection 10 located in the area of contact with adherence surface of thewindow sash 2, which allows for optimal increase of tightness of connection. -
Window frame 1 in its upper part is equipped with thesection 11 with a bow-shaped track, on whichprotrusion 12 moves in form of a finger fastened in the upper part ofwindow sash 2.Arms 3 are equipped with blocking stops 13, which correspond in shape to profilemembers 9 for the purpose of integrating the window in a closed position. Betweenwindow frame 1 and window sash 2 circumferential seals are embedded 12.
