Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device as a hearing aid for wearing in the ear or in or on the ear canal according to the preamble of claim 1, a method for producing a protective element for a device, a mounting tool for the assembly and the removal of the protective element on or from a hearing aid and a method for mounting a protective element.
- a rigid, non-sound permeable (rigid, non-sound permeable) membrane is described, which hermetically seals the sound outlet opening of an in-ear hearing aid.
- the membrane is picked up by the listener vibrates, producing sound waves that are similar in frequency and amplitude.
- a hearing aid in which the listener is closed off by a membrane from the eardrum. It is proposed a thin titanium membrane, which can be placed by means of a cap on the sound outlet pipe of the hearing aid.
- the thin titanium membrane is also designed by appropriate surface embossing and a concave or convex shape as an acoustic filter or acoustic lens.
- WO-A-0045617 describes a treatment device having a sound outlet, which is sealed by an acoustically transparent waterproof film.
- the DE 101 04 129 A1 describes a hearing aid with a filter unit containing a membrane or sieve-like filter element.
- the filter element is designed inclined.
- a similar arrangement is also in the DE 102 14 189 B4 described. Here is arranged a relatively large membrane parallel to the ear canal axis and sonicated with a handset. The radiated sound is then radiated through a small slit on the face of the hearing aid shell to the eardrum.
- EP 0 629 101 A1 describes a membrane that not only surrounds the sound input and output ports, but also forms the outermost skin of the hearing aid shell and can be adapted by pouring the interior of the anatomy of the ear canal. This membrane is not interchangeable, but an integral part of the shell.
- the EP 0 548 580 A1 describes a handset for hearing aids, which is protected with an outer membrane against cerumen and moisture. Again, the membrane is not interchangeable but an integral part of the listener.
- the EP 1 434 464 A1 describes a hearing aid in which the sound outlet opening is enclosed by a membrane made of an elastic and flexible thermoplastic elastomer.
- WO 00/03561 A describes a cerumen protection for an in-the-ear hearing aid and a corresponding tool for the assembly and the removal of the cerumen protection.
- the tool consists of a rod-shaped body, at the first end of the mounting tool and at the second end of the disassembly tool is arranged.
- the dismantling tool in this case has a gripping or latching member. When inserting the disassembly tool into the interior of the wax guard, the cerumen guard can be removed from the hearing aid by means of the gripping or latching member.
- the transmission properties of large membranes are better than those of small ones.
- the maximum diameter is limited by the ear canal geometry, or the desired “fitting rate”.
- the membrane thickness and the material properties also have an influence on the sound transmission. So, this is true Optimize factors for a given diameter to achieve optimal sound transmission.
- a membrane as a hearing protection must be acoustically coupled to the listener so that abrupt cross-sectional changes and thus impedance jumps are avoided.
- the handset is attached to the shell of the hearing aid via a sound tube. It must therefore be found a mechanical coupling of the tube diameter, which is usually about half of the membrane diameter to the membrane, taking into account the above points.
- a cerumen protection system therefore has to be so easy to assemble that no additional time is required in the laboratory.
- the membrane In the event that the membrane is heavily soiled or damaged, it must be possible to replace it.
- the replacement of the membrane should be possible not only for the service technician but also for the hearing care professional or the hearing aid wearer. It must therefore be provided a tool that allows the insertion as well as the removal of the membrane. It is important to ensure that the filigree membrane is not damaged when inserting and no dirt can get into the sound outlet when removing.
- the present invention has the object to supply the above-mentioned five problem areas at least partially a solution.
- the present invention proposes a device according to the wording of claim 1.
- Proposed is a device as a hearing aid, worn in the ear or in or on the ear canal, comprising at least one acoustic or acoustic outlet opening with a protective element to prevent contamination of the hearing aid, wherein the protective element is a thin, at least almost flexible or elastic membrane, for example an elastomer or a thermoplastic polymer.
- the protective element is arranged at least largely integrally embedded in the wall of a housing or a protective shell of the device or the hearing aid.
- the protective element has an at least approximately circular, cylinder-like body or carrier, consisting of a preferably thermally conductive material, wherein the one opening of the body or carrier, preferably that of the device outwardly directed opening of the flexible Membrane is covered or completed.
- the surface of the inner passageway of the carrier or of the cylinder is designed conically such that the diameter of the inner passage is tapered from the outer opening, covered by the membrane against the opening, directed against the interior of the hearing aid.
- the membrane is preferably made of an elastomeric or elastomeric polymer, such as polyurethane, synthetic rubber, butadiene-styrene copolymer, silicone rubber, etc.
- the membrane has a thickness of ⁇ 30 ⁇ m, preferably ⁇ 20 ⁇ m, such as about 15 ⁇ m.
- the annular cylinder or support is preferably made of a metal material such as stainless steel. Alternatively, a plastic compatible with the manufacturing methods described below may be used.
- a method for manufacturing a protective element for a device as described above.
- a film of an elastic or flexible polymer is placed on a substrate, then the cylindrical body or carrier, consisting of thermally conductive material is guided against the membrane, wherein either the film or the cylinder-like body or carrier is heated.
- the body or support is pressed against the membrane whereupon it is welded by the terminal body or support edge and simultaneously removed from the film, which is made possible by appropriate design of the support cross-section.
- the cylinder-like body or carrier with the membrane is removed again from the film and can now be introduced into a hearing aid as a protective element or arranged in the housing wall.
- FIG. 1a schematically shows a sketch of the standard structure of the eardrum end of an in-ear hearing aid 1 with a recessed in the housing 3 membrane wax cover 10.
- the cerumen 10 is placed directly into a designated recess 11 in the housing or shell 3.
- the recess 11 is an integral part of the housing wall or shell 3 and is constructed together with the shell.
- the recess 11 may be configured as a separate component 20, which is mounted in a designated bore 22 in the shell 3, as in FIG. 2a is shown.
- At the lower end of the recess 11 is an opening 21 into which the sound tube 7 is glued. This tube also holds the handset 5 in position.
- the receiver 5 is additionally surrounded by a bearing 9, which is intended to dampen mechanical vibrations.
- a ventilation equalization channel 17 is also visible to allow pressure equalization with the inner ear to the outside.
- FIG. 1b shows the corresponding structure for a closed handset module 4, which can be used in an in-ear hearing aid as in US Pat. No. 6,813,364 B1 described, or which can be used as an external speaker of a rear earpiece in the ear.
- the earphone 12 is enclosed by elastic bearings 14 in a housing 6 which has a sound exit opening 11 which is designed so that the protective element 10 can be inserted and thus the membrane 15 forms the outermost end of the system.
- FIG. 2b again schematically shows a sketch of the membrane wax guard 10 in section.
- the membrane 15 is mounted on a support 13, which is inserted into the cavity 11.
- the cavity 11 has the corresponding depth that the membrane 15 is flush with the housing surface.
- the carrier 13 on the outside has a non-constant cross-section 13, ie provided is a lateral step 18, which rests on a corresponding saddle in the cavity 11 and an inner step 57 which allows the replacement.
- the inner opening of the carrier in particular from the small tube diameter 21 to the larger outer diameter, covered by the membrane 15, is conical.
- the conical surface is provided with the reference numeral 19.
- FIG. 3 shows a typical frequency response of an in-ear hearing aid with and without membrane. It can be seen that a broadband attenuation of about 2 dB is achieved by the membrane. This is due to the internal damping of the membrane material and the inertia of the membrane. It must therefore be taken into account in the hearing aid adjustment a corresponding reserve to compensate for the membrane damping.
- FIG. 4 schematically shows a possible application of a membrane on a support 13 for the preparation of a corresponding protective element 10.
- a film 33 is placed, consisting of that polymer which is suitable for forming the membrane.
- a gripping element 35 of the carrier 13 is held and lowered against the arranged on the base 31 film 33.
- the film material is sintered or welded on the edge 37.
- This can be done either by heating the film 33 on the substrate 31, or by heating the preferably made of a thermally conductive material carrier 13.
- the membrane 15 is arranged on the carrier 33 and the protective element can be embedded in the cavity of a Hörowskiwandung. This process will now be described below with reference to Figures 5 ff be described in more detail.
- FIG. 5 shows in perspective a tool or assembly tool 41, by means of which the CerumenschutzElement can be arranged both in the housing wall, as well as can be removed again from this.
- the tool has two correspondingly configured ends 43 and 45. It shows FIG. 6 the end 43, which is provided for the assembly or the introduction of Cerumenschutzes in the housing.
- the tool has a circular cylinder-like end 49, which corresponds approximately to the diameter of the upper or outer edge 37 of the cerumen guard. Slightly set back from the end of an elastic jacket 47 is provided, which extends beyond embracing the end 49 outside.
- This elastic coat is dimensioned such that an external gripping the outer contour of the upper edge 37 of the protective element in the region of the membrane is possible.
- the elastic sheath 47 may be made of the same material as the end 43 and have resilient properties by appropriate design, or it may be made of a rubber-elastic material such as an elastomer or a thermoplastic elastomer and mounted as an additional component on the end 43, or be integral with it, for example via a 2K injection molding process.
- a rubber-elastic material such as an elastomer or a thermoplastic elastomer and mounted as an additional component on the end 43, or be integral with it, for example via a 2K injection molding process.
- the description refers to a rubber jacket.
- FIG. 8 On the assembly itself should be referring to FIG. 8 be discussed in more detail.
- FIG. 7 The opposite end of the tool 41 is in FIG. 7 represented where a cylinder-like disassembly 51 is disposed at the end 45 of the tool 41.
- the dismantling element 51 preferably has a latching element 53 at the end, with respect to its function with reference to FIG FIG. 9 will be discussed in more detail.
- FIG. 8 shows now with reference to the three representations a), b) and c) the assembly process for the insertion of a protective element 10 in the cavity 11 of an in-ear hearing aid.
- FIG. 8a the cerumen protection or the carrier 13 held by the outside encompassing rubber-elastic jacket 47 of the tool 41.
- FIG. 8b shows the insertion of the carrier 13 in the cavity 11, wherein now the outer encompassing rubber sheath 47 abuts the housing wall 3.
- the sheath 47 can be compressed during insertion of the carrier 13, as in FIG. 8c shown.
- the tool 41 can be lifted upwards without the element being removed from the cavity 11 again.
- the dismantling element 51 is moved with the terminal latching member 53 against the diaphragm 15 of the protective element, and pressed together with the membrane against the lower tapered opening 21 in the body or carrier 13. Due to the high tensile strength of the membrane 15, this is not pierced or severed but stretched with the disassembly 51, which is advantageous in order to prevent contamination of the listener in the hearing aid.
- the laterally projecting latching members 53 engage in corresponding recesses 57 in the inner wall of the carrier 13, with which now the protective element can be pulled out of the cavity 11.
- the cerumen protection can also be replaced by a person who uses the hearing aid.
- illustrated devices, elements and tools are only examples, which can be modified, modified or supplemented by further elements in any desired manner.
- suitable materials for the preparation of the membrane instead of the aforementioned polymer materials.
- the support or body of the cerumen protective element can also be produced from any suitable materials, preferably using a material which is highly thermally conductive and heat-resistant, such as a fiber-reinforced polymer, for facilitating the simplified application of the membrane to the support, as described below in reference to FIG. 4 explained in more detail.
- the tool described with reference to the FIGS. 5 to 7 is merely an example that does not necessarily have to be rod-shaped.
- a rubber-like material such as a kind of rubber hose is arranged to arrange the protective element in the hearing aid
- a disassembly element or a gripping element may be provided, for example, the terminal a rough contour has to attacking in the inner cone of the wearer or body to remove this again from the hearing aid.
