- Patent application DE 198 45 440 shows another production of plates intaglio printing unit for flatbed printing, the described plates comprising engravings the bottom of which has partitions forming channels or chambers allowing the ink to be transferred in a vertical direction only, i.e. perpendicular to the surface of the plate, and not in a horizontal or diagonal direction.
- These channels also allow modulation of the thickness of the ink deposited on the printed medium.
- patent application DE 198 45 436 describes an intaglio printing process, in which the intensity of the same printed color varies. This effect is obtained by engraving the plate, the depth of which varies so that the quantity of ink in the engraving also varies so that the quantity of ink transferred to the printed substrate is different, thus creating varying intensities.
- the production rate of these intaglio printing machines can go up up to 10,000 sheets per hour which typically corresponds to a linear speed 2.8 meters / second.
- the ink deposited in the sizes of the plate therefore undergoes several forces, one perpendicular to the direction of movement of the plate, and the other centrifugal due to the rotation of the plate around the axis of the plate cylinder.
- the ink will move backwards from the waist into the plate by relative to the direction of rotation and will also be drawn outside the waist instead of stay at the bottom of it, which results in a lower quality print and a irregular paper inking.
- the object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks by improving the plates of known impressions.
- one of the aims of the invention is to propose a plate intaglio printing allowing quality inking despite the fact that inking is done in a moving system.
