Definitions
- the invention relates to a leaf for an overhead door with ceiling clearance and vertical travel, a tilting door comprising such a leaf, as well that a method of assembling such a leaf.
- a leaf of this type generally comprises a frame capable of cooperating with the masonry of a building intended to receive said leaf, the frame comprising itself two uprights and two crosspieces.
- the leaf can be moved between a closed position - in which it is substantially vertical - and a position open - in which it is substantially horizontal.
- the leaves of overhead doors often include a gate allowing a user to enter the building in a simple way, without having to open the entire leaf by tilting.
- Panels made of a single sheet, and extending over substantially all the height of the leaf, are fixed to the supporting structure consisting of the frame, the chassis and first and second profiles, in order to form the leaf.
- a first panel, fixed on the frame, forms the gate
- the leaf thus produced has several drawbacks. In particular, it does not has no insulating or sealing properties, and its appearance is poor satisfactory, since the reinforcing structures are visible. In addition, the leaf can be relatively long to assemble.
- sectional doors whose leaf is composed of horizontally extending panels - when the leaf is in position closed - over the entire width of said leaf. Two adjacent panels are articulated to each other.
- the leaf To open the door, the leaf is moved vertically, the panel upper pivoting from the vertical position to the horizontal position, while keep the next panel vertical. This is made possible by joints between successive panels. Successively, the panels following - from the upper part of the leaf to its lower part - will perform the same movement until the leaf is substantially plane and horizontal.
- Each of the horizontal panels has an interior wall and a wall substantially planar exterior delimiting a space containing a material insulating.
- Sectional doors of this type therefore have very good properties insulation and sealing.
- the object of the invention is to provide a leaf for a tilting door which does not have not the disadvantages of the prior art.
- each panel has a inner wall and a substantially planar outer wall defining a space containing insulating material, and each panel is self-supporting, so that the leaf does not have any stiffness or reinforcement structure other than the frame, and is also modular, dimensionally and functionally, this which allows, by selection and assembly, to cover a wide range of leaves corresponding substantially to all the requests and needs of users.
- the leaf according to the invention thus has very good insulation properties and sealing, while being inexpensive, easy to install and suitable for meet user expectations since it requires very little panel cuts, less restrictive assembly steps, no reinforcement structure and a simple selection operation and assembly of panels to cover user expectations.
- a longitudinal assembly profile is linked to each edge side of each of the panels, an assembly profile linked to a panel being able to cooperate with an adjacent assembly profile linked to the neighboring panel, or with the leaf frame, so that the panels and the constituent frame of the leaf.
- the lateral edges of the interior and exterior walls of each of the panels may have folds towards the inside of the panel, the profiles assembly being able to cooperate with said folds.
- the frame and / or the assembly profiles may include grooves suitable for receive sealing means.
- These sealing means include example of bi-material seals comprising at least one part made of rigid material intended to be inserted in the grooves of the frame and / or profiles assembly, and at least one part made of flexible material capable of coming to bear on the facing surface of said grooves.
- the leaf comprises three panels, the width of each panel being substantially equal to one third of the total width of the leaf.
- One of the panels is capable of forming a gate, said gate being mounted at pivoting to a neighboring panel or to the leaf frame and which may include a three-point lock.
- each panel is interchangeable with the other panels of the leaf, whether it forms a gate or no. This therefore makes it possible to manufacture only one type of panel for each type of leaf, which makes the method of making the leaf very economical.
- the gate is easily made by combining the type of profiles assembly adapted to one of the panels and by installing for example a three point lock on this panel.
- the panels include covers intended covering the upper and lower edges of said panels.
- each panel is made of sheet metal and the insulating material is polyurethane foam.
- two neighboring panels are assembled one to the other by interlocking adjacent assembly profiles fixed to the edges side panels.
- Figures 1 and 2 show a door 1 tiltable, with ceiling clearance and vertical travel, for example a garage door.
- a first direction D1 substantially vertical, is defined with respect to which will be used the terms “longitudinal”, “height”, “lower”, “ superior ".
- Door 1 includes a frame 2, intended to be fixed to the masonry of a building, said frame 2 itself comprising two vertical uprights 3, 4 as well as a substantially horizontal upper cross-member 5 and a bar threshold 6, fixed to the ground, between the lower ends of the two uprights 3, 4.
- a second direction D2 is defined, substantially parallel to the crosspieces 5, 6, in relation to which the terms “lateral”, “transversal” will be used, "Width”, “left”, “right”, as well as a third direction D3 such as (D1, D2, D3) forms an orthogonal coordinate system.
- the door 1 is also provided with two guide rails 7, 8, extending along the direction D3 from the upper crossmember 5 and each of the uprights 3, 4.
- the guide rails 7, 8 are intended to be fixed to the ceiling inside the building.
- the door 1 thus delimits a bay and further comprises a leaf 9, linked to the door 1 by a tilting device comprising lateral arms 10 and a mechanical system provided with rollers 11 capable of cooperating with the rails guide 7, 8.
- the leaf 9 is able to be moved by tilting between a closed position - in which it is substantially vertical and closes the opening ( Figure 2) - and a open position - in which it is substantially horizontal and parallel to guide rails 7, 8, near the ceiling.
- Door 1 includes a lock a point 12 intended to allow the leaf 9 to be locked in the closed position.
- Balancing of door 1 is achieved by two springs, not shown.
- the leaf 9 comprises a frame 13 able to cooperate with the fixed frame 2 of the door 1.
- the frame 13 of the leaf 9 comprises two vertical uprights 14, 15, as well as two horizontal cross bars, respectively upper 16 and lower 17.
- the frame 13 is for example made up of metal profiles closed section hollow.
- the leaf 9 comprises three panels 18, 19, 20 linked to the frame 13 and placed the next to each other so as to cover substantially the entire width of the leaf 9, inside the frame 13.
- the width of each panel 18, 19, 20 is substantially equal to a third of the total width of leaf 9.
- Each panel 18, 19, 20 extends vertically, when the leaf 9 is in the closed position, on substantially the entire height of the leaf 9, inside the frame 13.
- the leaf 9 could understand a different number of panels.
- One of the panels located at a lateral end of the leaf 9 is hinged to the frame 13 of leaf 9 via hinges 21 and provided with a handle 22, and forms thus a gate 18.
- Each panel 18, 19, 20 - including the gate 18 - includes, as illustrated in FIG. 7, an interior wall 23 and an exterior wall 24 substantially flat, made of lacquered sheet metal.
- the outer wall 24 can have stamped patterns (see Figure 1).
- the inner 23 and outer 24 walls define between them a space containing thermal and / or sound insulating material (not shown), such as a polyurethane foam injected between the two walls 23, 24, or fibers.
- thermal and / or sound insulating material such as a polyurethane foam injected between the two walls 23, 24, or fibers.
- the thickness of the inner 23 and outer 24 walls is of the order of 0.4 to 0.6 mm.
- the thickness of a panel 18, 19, 20 is of the order of 20 to 30 mm, especially 21 mm.
- FIG. 7 It should be noted that the various elements of FIG. 7 have been represented without take into account their actual thickness, in order to facilitate understanding.
- the panels 18, 19, 20 further include covers 25 intended for cover the upper and lower edges of said panels 18, 19, 20, as will be described later with reference to FIGS. 10 and 11.
- each of the panels 18, 19, 20 comprises an assembly profile 26 longitudinal fixed to each of its lateral edges.
- Assembly profiles 26 are made of sheet metal, and are intended on the one hand to contain the foam polyurethane and secondly to allow the assembly of two panels 18, 19, 20 adjacent, or the assembly of a panel 18, 19, 20 to the frame 13.
- the assembly profiles 26 therefore integrate mechanical functionalities assembly, as well as sealing functionality, and allow simplified management of the lateral edges of the walls of the panels 18, 19, 20.
- Each panel 18, 19, 20 is self-supporting, so that the leaf 9 is without any stiffness or reinforcement structure other than the frame 13, such as longitudinal or transverse profiles.
- Gate 18, made from a insulating panel as previously described, is also devoid of reinforcement structure, such as a chassis fixed to the frame 13 of the leaf 9.
- the panels 18, 19, 20 are modular, in terms of width, height, and side features. Thus, the forecast of a limited number of panels 18, 19, 20 allows, by selection and assembly, to cover a wide range of leaves, corresponding to almost all the requests and needs of users.
- Figure 3 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the gate 18 and the other two panels 19, 20, the frame 13 of the leaf 9, the fixed frame 2 of door 1, as well as the masonry 27 of a building receiving door 1. In Figure 3 are also indicated the interior I and outside E of the building.
- the invention provides for making a leaf 9 using a reduced number of profiles assembly 26, in order to limit manufacturing and storage costs. So, in the illustrated embodiment, only four types of assembly profiles 26 different are required.
- the assembly profiles have shapes complementary so that they can be nested one inside the other to the assembly of the various constituent parts of the leaf 9.
- the thickness of the different joining profiles is of the order of 0.5 to 1 mm.
- a first type of assembly profile 26a ( Figures 4 and 9) has, in section transverse, the general shape of an H, comprising a bar substantially median 28 and two wings 29, 30 integral with the bar 28, extending from the ends of said bar 28 perpendicular to bar 28.
- the first type of assembly profile 26a can be used for assembly a panel 18, 19, 20 to frame 13, whether or not it is gate 18.
- first type of assembly profile 26a can be used to fix the hinges 21.
- a second type of assembly profile 26b ( Figures 5, 6) has, in section transverse, the general shape of a U, comprising a first and a second wings 36, 37 substantially parallel, extending substantially perpendicular to a base 38 to which they are integral.
- the length of the first wing 36 is smaller than that of the second wing 37, for example of the order of half.
- the second type of assembly profile 26b can be used at the level of the junction between the gate 18 and the adjacent panel 19, the relative length of the first and second wings 36, 37 corresponding to the difference in width between the inner 23 and outer 24 walls of the gate 18 and making it possible to ensure the support of the gate 18 on the adjacent panel 19.
- This second type of profile 26b assembly is not necessary if the leaf 9 does not include gate 18.
- a third type of assembly profile 26c ( Figures 6, 7, 8) has overall, in cross section, the shape of a U comprising a base 39 as well as first and second wings 40, 41 secured to the base 39, and extending in a general direction perpendicular to that of the base 39.
- the total length of the first wing 40 is substantially equal to three times the length of the first wing 36 of the second type of assembly profile 26b, the length of the first part 42 being substantially equal to twice the length of the first wing 36 of the third type of assembly profile 26c.
- the distance between the base 39 and the junction between the first part 44 and the second part 46 of the second wing 41 is substantially equal to the length of the first part 42 of the first wing 40.
- the third type of assembly profile 26c can be used at the level of the junction between two adjacent panels 18, 19, 20, that one of said panels either a gate 18 or not.
- a fourth type of assembly profile 26d presents, in section transverse, the shape of a U comprising a first and a second wings 47, 48 substantially parallel and of the same length, extending substantially perpendicular to a base 49 of which they are integral.
- the fourth type of joining profile 26d can be used to the assembly between them of two panels 19, 20 other than the gate 18, as well as for the assembly of a panel 18, 19, 20 to the frame 13 (not represented).
- each wall 23, 24 thus has a fold 50 extending substantially parallel to the corresponding wall 23, 24, on the inner side of the panel 18, 19, 20 when said walls 23, 24 are mounted.
- one wing or part of a wing forming a fold is inserted into the fold of the lateral edge of a wall 23, 24.
- the space formed between a fold 50 and the corresponding wall 23, 24 is sufficient to allow the insertion of a wing or part of a wing of the profile assembly 26 adequate.
- the distance between the inner walls 23 and outer 24 of a panel 18, 19, 20 is therefore determined by the dimensions assembly profiles 26, and in particular of the base 38, 39, 49 - or of the bar 28 - of said assembly profiles 26.
- the gate 18 is located on the left side of leaf 9, when looking at leaf 9 from the outside (figure 1).
- the hinges 21 are then fixed to the left upright 14 of the frame 13.
- the gate 18 is capable of being open towards the outside E of the building. We can however consider modifying this configuration: gate placed on the right or in the center of the leaf, gate swivel mounted on another panel rather than on the frame, wicket opening inwards.
- An assembly profile of the first type 26a is provided at the edge of the gate 18 opposite the frame 13 of the leaf 9. It allows the hinges 21 to be fixed to the door 18, for example via screws, the hinges 21 being moreover fixed in box 13.
- the junction between the gate panel 18 and the adjacent panel 19 is shown in detail B in FIG. 3 and in FIGS. 5 and 6.
- a second type assembly profile 26b is provided at the lateral edge of the door 18 opposite the adjacent panel 19.
- On this assembly profile 26b is fixed a longitudinal post 51 (by fitting and / or by screwing), on substantially the entire height of the gate 18.
- the upright 51 supports the means of closing the door (handle 22, bolt 52, etc.)
- a third type assembly profile 26c is fixed to the lateral edge of the panel 19 opposite the gate 18, the groove 45 being directed towards the second wing 37 of the assembly profile 26b, so as to allow positioning a seal in said groove 45, in order to achieve sealing between the gate 18 and panel 19.
- a keeper 53 is fixed to the profile 26c, for example via screws not represented.
- the strike 53 intended to receive the bolt 52, is a piece made of plastic, molded, reversible. It allows, due to its geometry, a adjustment and adaptation on the different profiles, whether in position central, high or low (see Figure 2).
- a profile assembly of the third type 26c At the lateral edge of the panel 19 opposite the panel 20 is fixed a profile assembly of the third type 26c. At the lateral edge of the panel 20 is fixed a assembly profile of the fourth type 26d, so that the opening of U is directed towards the outside of the panel 20, that is to say towards the adjacent panel 19.
- the assembly profiles 26c and 26d are then fitted into each other, their respective dimensions being provided for this purpose.
- an assembly profile of the first type 26a is fixed to the lateral edge. of the panel 20 opposite the frame 13.
- a screw fixing (not shown) between the frame 13 and the assembly profile 26a is generally used.
- the frame 13 of the leaf 9 is produced from hollow metal profiles, the thickness of the walls is of the order of 1 mm, and which have, in section transverse, the overall shape of a parallelepiped.
- the frame 13 is further provided with two longitudinal grooves 58 arranged on one face of the frame intended to be placed opposite the fixed frame 2 of door 1, for the insertion of sealing means.
- the frame 13 is provided with a lip 59 projecting from then the face of the frame 13 intended to be placed opposite the panels 18, 19, 20, towards the inside of the leaf 9.
- the lip 59 is shaped so as to define a longitudinal groove 60 capable of receiving means sealing cooperating with the panels 18, 19, 20.
- the uprights 14, 15 and the crosspieces 16, 17 of the frame 13 can be made from identical profiles.
- the seals 61 are thus placed on the uprights 3, 4 of the fixed frame or on the uprights 14, 15 of the frame 13 of the leaf 9.
- the rigid part 61a of a seal 61 can have two protruding projections capable of being inserted each into a groove 58 of the frame 13, in order to ensure better fixing of the seal 61.
- the gate 18 and the panels 19, 20 include covers 25 intended to cover their upper edges and lower.
- the covers 25 are profiles whose section is substantially U-shaped and comprises a base 62 as well as first and second wings 63, 64.
- the covers 25 are arranged in the direction D2, so that the wings 63, 64 abut against the outer faces of the walls interior 23 and exterior 24 of panels 18, 19, 20, the base 62 of the U being substantially parallel to the plane (D2, D3).
- the distance between the first and second wings 63, 64 of the U is greater than the thickness of a panel 18, 19, 20.
- the first wing 63 - intended to be placed outside E of the construction - may have a fold 65 directed towards the base 62 of the U, inside said U.
- the fold 65 is substantially in contact with the first wing 63, thus reinforcing the latter.
- FIG. 10 illustrates covers 25 cooperating with a panel 19, 20 other than the gate 18.
- the second part 67 can receive a screw 70 intended to fix the frame 13 of the leaf at panel 19, 20.
- a clearance j is provided between the cover 13 and the panel 19, 20 so as to compensate for the thickness of the seal 71 housed in the groove 60 of the frame 13 and provided for gate 18 (see Figure 11), so as to ensure alignment of the panels 18, 19, 20.
- FIG. 11 illustrates covers 25 cooperating with the gate 18, which have a different shape from the covers 25 used for the other panels 19, 20.
- the second wing 64 of the covers 25 provided to cooperate with the gate 18 is substantially planar, without detachment, and is intended to be in contact with the inner face 23 of the gate 18.
- the width of the U is then hardly more greater than the thickness of the gate 18.
- the function of the covers 25 is inter alia to protect the foam from polyurethane panels 18, 19, 20 for bad weather (rain, UV, etc.) at level of the upper and lower sections of said panels 18, 19, 20.
- the seal between the crosspieces 16, 17 of the frame 13 of the leaf 9 on the one hand and the upper cross 5 and the threshold bar 6 of the fixed frame 2 on the other hand is also provided by bi-material seals 72.
- Such a seal 72 comprises a rigid foot 73, capable of being inserted in a groove 58 of frame 13, as well as a flexible part 74, intended to come to bear on the upper crossmember 5 or the threshold bar 6.
- the flexible part 74 is itself composed of a flexible lip 74a and a peelable lip 74b.
- the entire periphery of the leaf 9 is thus provided with means ensuring sealing with the fixed frame 2.
- the gate 18 includes a three-point lock 75, in order to improve security of door 1.
- the three-point lock 75 can be fixed on the upright 51.
- the upper and lower bolts of the lock three points 75 cooperate with the lip 59 of the upper crosspieces 16 and lower 17 of the frame 13.
- the bolt 52 engages in keeper 53.
- the upper bolts and bottom of the three-point lock 75 can also cooperate with the keepers 53 upper and lower (see figure 2).
- FIG. 10 is also visible an element 76 of the lock, a point 12 of door 1, in position of engagement with threshold bar 6 of the frame fixed 2 of door 1, allowing the leaf 9 to be locked in the closed position.
- the expansion of the insulating material exerts pressure on the walls 23, 24 and the assembly profiles 26, so that these various elements are perfectly maintained with respect to each other.
- the panels 18, 19, 20 are placed next to the others and we assemble the panels 18, 19, 20 adjacent two by two along of their lateral edges, by interlocking of the assembly profiles 26 adjacent to the side edges of the panels 18,19,20.
- the panels 18, 19, 20 are fixed to the frame 13.
- the different mechanical elements (locks, handles, etc.) are also used in place.
- the leaf is associated with the fixed frame, via the failover.
- the invention thus provides a leaf having very good rigidity, without it it is necessary to provide reinforcing elements other than the frame.
- the leaf can be easily assembled and is inexpensive.
- the leaf has very good insulation properties and a seal comparable to that of a sectional door thanks to the use of bi-material seals.
- the leaf has completely satisfactory aesthetic characteristics.
