Abstract
Description
The subject of the invention is an on-board device for recovery of a man overboard allowing self-recovery of a conscious victim.
- lifebuoys, round,
- U-shaped or horseshoe-shaped buoys,
- buoys in the shape of triangles or squares, of various rigid and inflatable materials.
- flotation devices in rectangular volumes of different sizes such as airbags for airliners or even larger ones for ships with ropes to grip,
- life jackets made of rigid or inflatable foam,
- waterproof and inflatable survival suit,
- lifeboats of various rigid or inflatable sizes, which can accommodate from one to several dozen people,
- personal signaling equipment: whistles, mirrors, lamps, lights, dyes, satellite positioning radio transmitters, etc.
Often when a victim falls into the sea, they do not carry none of the equipment mentioned above.
Existing equipment, products or techniques for solve the problem, are incomplete because they fail on a or two steps leading to the rescue.
What works in wind and sea conditions calm like launching a buoy attached to a rope and pulling to bring the victim on board does not work if the boat does not stop. As described above, the resistance is such that the victim cannot be tanned on the rope. On the other hand, if the boat can stop next to the victim, it often results in greater danger than if the boat maintained a certain distance. When the edge of the ship is high and above water the victim must be able to be hoisted in a comfortable way, without danger, which supposes winching equipment.
So the only solution for the victim to come back on board for sure is that she can do it on her own. Likewise, the life-saving appliance must have hydrodynamic characteristics allowing the victim to be pulled by a rope, without resistance behind a boat and allowing this victim to tan or be pulled in return to the boat then above the water, on board.
