Definitions
- the present invention relates to an applicator for hair product, in particular in the form of foam, gel or cream.
- the invention is everything particularly suitable for the application of coloring products.
- a major current trend in the hair sector is to create in the hair, more or less visible, and more or less subtle color effects whose purpose is either to make up the hair with bright colors, such whether yellow, green, blue or red, is to give the hair a particularity that is as natural as possible.
- This defect consists of the appearance of colored “bars”, located towards the hairline, which come from the even trains applicators.
- This bar is the result of the starting point of the application, when it is carried out with an applicator with "attack zones” substantially straight or with a large radius of curvature.
- the area of attack means the starting area of the application.
- FIGS. 1A and 1B representing the application of a hair coloring product on the hair using a brush elongated shape (shaped like a rugby ball).
- the major axis of the brush is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the handle.
- the major axis of the brush is parallel to the axis of the handle.
- experience shows that the user always uses one of the large faces 1 of the brush as an attack zone. In both cases, it causes the brush up and down, pulling the brush perpendicularly to its major axis. Due to the large radius of curvature of this face, the application generates the appearance of a "bar" 2 (in the form of a straight line, or a curve with large radius of curvature) whose effect is not at all natural, and therefore perceived very negatively.

- a product applicator capillary in particular in the form of foam, paste, gel or cream, comprising a handle, one end of which is integral with a brush consisting of a set of teeth or bristles implanted on a support, the section of the brush parallel to a plane of the support having at least three corners or outgrowths, two of which are oriented opposite each other, substantially perpendicular to an axis of the handle, the third being oriented opposite the handle, substantially parallel to said axis, said section having no edge substantially parallel to the axis of the handle.
- the area always consists of an angular area or a small radius of curvature, which avoids the "bar" phenomenon discussed above.
- it can be used in the same way by a left-handed or a right-handed person.
- Such a configuration also makes it possible to maintain an application surface. large enough to allow application under conditions of acceptable speed and efficiency.
- the two corners or protrusions oriented opposite one of the other are aligned substantially along the same axis perpendicular to the axis of the handle, the third being arranged substantially on the axis of the handle.
- a perfectly symmetrical brush is thus produced, which has the same application characteristics when used by a left or right handed.
- the applicator comprises a fourth corner or protrusion, located opposite the third, substantially in the axis of the handle, said section not having an edge substantially perpendicular to the axis of the handle. This further increases the surface effective application, the application being always free of "bars" such that mentioned above.
- said corners or protrusions are separated by concave curve portions.
- the support can itself consist of a concave surface.
- the surface defined by the free ends of the bristles or teeth is concave, the concavity of said surface being oriented opposite the concavity of the support.
- the corners or protuberances are of shape rounded and have a radius of curvature between 1 mm and 15 mm, and preferably between 2 mm and 10 mm. More generally, the radius of curvature of the rounding formed by the corners is at least equal to the radius of the circle circumscribed by a tooth or by a tuft of hairs. As for the upper limit, in the case of a brush whose section is circumscribed by a circle, it is strictly less than the radius of said circle. This characteristic is necessary when you want an applicator with sufficient surface, of the type to growths connected by concave edges, which corresponds to a preferred configuration of the applicator according to the invention.
- Such an applicator can be obtained by molding a thermoplastic material, in particular polypropylene or polyethylene. Being able to use these industrial molding techniques, allows the realization of an applicator very low cost.
- the packaging device consists of a device mixer, bowl, or pressurized container.
- the applicator 10 illustrated in FIGS. 2A-2C comprises a handle 11, one of which end is integral with a brush 12 consisting of a support 30, on which a plurality of teeth 13 are implanted, perpendicular to the support 30. Instead of the teeth, hairs arranged in particular could be used in the form of tufts.
- the profile of the applicator handle is chosen from so as to allow the best ergonomics, in order to optimize the application. As it appears in Figures 2A and 2C as well as in Figure 5, the handle is integral with the brush 12 at a junction zone 31 located on the face of the support 30 opposite to that carrying the teeth.
- Applicator 10 is obtained from molding of a thermoplastic material, such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
- the support 30 substantially forms a rhombus comprising 4 corners 14, 15, 16, 17. Two of the corners, 14, 16 are oriented opposite each other, and aligned along an axis perpendicular to the axis X of the handle 11. The other two corners 15, 17 are also oriented opposite one another and arranged on the X axis of the handle.
- the corners 14-17 are rounded.
- the radius of curvature formed by the corners 14-17 is of the order of 5 mm.
- the edges of the support 18, 19, 20, 21 connecting the corners in pairs, are slightly concave in shape, so as to give the application even more naturalness, by creating an area of attack without any straight portion.
- the use of the brush of Figures 2A-2C is illustrated in Figures 3A and 3B.
- the product is a coloring product in the form of a cream or a paste, prepared in a bowl or in an automatic mixing device.
- the product is deposited on the face of the support 30 carrying the teeth 13.
- the user deposits the product on the hair, from the root to the ends, by a movement from top to bottom (arrow F), holding the handle substantially horizontally.

- the user deposits the product on the hair, from the root towards the ends, by a movement from top to bottom (arrow F), holding the handle substantially vertical.
- the attack zone consists of corner 15, and the two edges 18, 19 adjoining this corner.
- the result is identical to that obtained with the mode of application of FIG. 3A.
- the result would be similar by applying the product by a back and forth movement on the hair, the corners 14 or 16 forming then the attack areas of the application. It should be noted that due to the shape symmetrical of the applicator, the application characteristics are identical, whether the brush is used by a left-handed or a right-handed person.
- the support 30 substantially forms a three leaf clover.
- the support 12 has three protuberances or projections 14, 15, 16, two of which 14, 16 are aligned in a axis perpendicular to the X axis of the handle 11.
- the third 15 is located on the X axis, opposite the handle 11.
- the protuberances 14, 15, 16 are connected by strongly concave edges 18, 19.
- the application surface is slightly less than that of the applicator of FIGS. 2A-2C.
- FIG. 5 represents an application kit consisting of an applicator 10 of the type of that described with reference to FIGS. 2A-2C, in combination with a packaging device, in the form of a pressurized container 40, intended to deliver a foam to be applied to the hair, by means of the applicator 10.
- the packaging device may consist of a bowl, in which the preparation of the composition would be carried out manually to be applied (typically by mixing a dye and an oxidant) or a mixing device capable of automatically mixing the constituents entering into the coloring composition.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an applicator for hair product, in particular in the form of foam, gel or cream. The invention is everything particularly suitable for the application of coloring products.
A major current trend in the hair sector is to create in the hair, more or less visible, and more or less subtle color effects whose purpose is either to make up the hair with bright colors, such whether yellow, green, blue or red, is to give the hair a particularity that is as natural as possible.
However in the latter case, and until now, the coloring of the hair remained business of professionals, when we look for very subtle effects, natural looking.
The most sought after of these effects is that of obtaining in the hair areas (not highlights) that are lighter or darker darker than the rest of the hair, to shade it all up very natural. These effects are obtained from coloring compositions, under form of gel, paste, foam or cream, which is deposited on a brush and that we apply to the hair. The compositions can be packaged in particular in mixing devices, suitable for extemporaneous mixture of the various components which constitute them (usually a dye and an oxidant), in a bowl in which we make manually the mixture, or in pressurized containers. The tools of application proposed for this type of "disuniformized" coloring give results showing a major defect, tending to drop very markedly the natural level of color rendering. This defect consists of the appearance of colored "bars", located towards the hairline, which come from the even trains applicators. This bar is the result of the starting point of the application, when it is carried out with an applicator with "attack zones" substantially straight or with a large radius of curvature. The area of attack means the starting area of the application.
This phenomenon is illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 1B, representing the application of a
hair coloring product on the hair using a brush
elongated shape (shaped like a rugby ball). In FIG. 1A, the major axis of the
brush is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the handle. In Figure 1B, the
major axis of the brush is parallel to the axis of the handle. In both cases,
experience shows that the user always uses one of the
An attempt has been made to solve this problem by using a section brush. circular. However, it appears that if one wishes to have a surface of sufficiently large application, then we are obliged to have a radius of relatively large curvature, generating on application, certainly in a lesser measure than an ovoid brush, a "bar" perceived negatively by the user.
It is therefore one of the objects of the invention to provide an applicator for hair product not having the drawbacks of the devices discussed above.
It is in particular an object of the invention to provide a brush which does not with no straight attack zone or with a large radius of curvature.
It is another object of the invention to produce an application kit for a hair product, incorporating an applicator according to the present invention.
Other objects of the invention will appear in detail in the description which follows.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved by means of a product applicator capillary, in particular in the form of foam, paste, gel or cream, comprising a handle, one end of which is integral with a brush consisting of a set of teeth or bristles implanted on a support, the section of the brush parallel to a plane of the support having at least three corners or outgrowths, two of which are oriented opposite each other, substantially perpendicular to an axis of the handle, the third being oriented opposite the handle, substantially parallel to said axis, said section having no edge substantially parallel to the axis of the handle.
Thus, whatever the orientation of the handle relative to the hair, the area always consists of an angular area or a small radius of curvature, which avoids the "bar" phenomenon discussed above. In in addition, it can be used in the same way by a left-handed or a right-handed person. Such a configuration also makes it possible to maintain an application surface. large enough to allow application under conditions of acceptable speed and efficiency.
Advantageously, the two corners or protrusions oriented opposite one of the other are aligned substantially along the same axis perpendicular to the axis of the handle, the third being arranged substantially on the axis of the handle. Of advantageously, a perfectly symmetrical brush is thus produced, which has the same application characteristics when used by a left or right handed.
Advantageously also, the applicator comprises a fourth corner or protrusion, located opposite the third, substantially in the axis of the handle, said section not having an edge substantially perpendicular to the axis of the handle. This further increases the surface effective application, the application being always free of "bars" such that mentioned above.
According to a preferred embodiment, said corners or protrusions are separated by concave curve portions.
The support can itself consist of a concave surface. In a way advantageous, the surface defined by the free ends of the bristles or teeth is concave, the concavity of said surface being oriented opposite the concavity of the support.
According to a preferred embodiment, the corners or protuberances are of shape rounded and have a radius of curvature between 1 mm and 15 mm, and preferably between 2 mm and 10 mm.
Such an applicator can be obtained by molding a thermoplastic material, in particular polypropylene or polyethylene. Being able to use these industrial molding techniques, allows the realization of an applicator very low cost.
Advantageously, the packaging device consists of a device mixer, bowl, or pressurized container.
- les figures 1A et 1B illustrent de manière schématique un des problèmes liés à l'utilisation de dispositifs d'application conventionnels;
- les figures 2A-2C illustrent un mode de réalisation préférentiel d'un applicateur selon l'invention;
- les figures 3A-3B illustrent l'application d'une composition capillaire au moyen d'un applicateur selon les figures 2A-2C;
- FIGS. 1A and 1B schematically illustrate one of the problems associated with the use of conventional application devices;
- Figures 2A-2C illustrate a preferred embodiment of an applicator according to the invention;
- Figures 3A-3B illustrate the application of a hair composition by means of an applicator according to Figures 2A-2C;
- FIG. 4 illustrates a second embodiment of an applicator according to the invention; and
- FIG. 5 illustrates an embodiment of an application kit according to the invention.
The
The
As it appears in Figures 2B and 2C, illustrating sectional views along the lines
two axes of the
The use of the brush of Figures 2A-2C is illustrated in Figures 3A and 3B. The
product is a coloring product in the form of a cream or a paste,
prepared in a bowl or in an automatic mixing device. The product
is deposited on the face of the
In FIG. 3B, the user deposits the product on the hair, from the root
towards the ends, by a movement from top to bottom (arrow F), holding the
handle substantially vertical. The attack zone consists of
celle de l'applicateur des figures 2A-2C.According to the variant illustrated in Figure 4, the
