Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device allowing the injection of product, in particular pharmaceutical, in the human or animal body.
- It relates more particularly to a device without hypodermic needle, equipped with an arming system, which authorizes subcutaneous administration, intradermal or intramuscular, of substances medicinal or vaccine, contained in a dose, to single use, forming cartridge.
- transcutaneous jet injection devices without needle, which were developed for medicine veterinary or human.
- the absence of a needle simplifies use of the device and does not require specific knowledge of the user. They are usually used for massive vaccination campaigns and are designed to be implemented quickly by a non-specialist staff.
- the use of a jet avoids maximum bacterial and / or viral contamination of a subject to the other, which occurred in cases where the same needle is used without sterilization by several topics.
- These devices are generally shaped as gun, equipped with a container of product to be injected, conveyed through a nozzle, by the action of a piston is moving into a room, previously filled with the substance, the piston being moved by a striker.
- the pistol includes a bolt or magazine containing a cartridge also placed in the axis of the striker.
- WO 95/27523 describes an injection device by jet without needle provided at one of its ends with a cartridge made in one piece.
- WO 96/15821 describes a cartridge comprising a capsule on which a sleeve which is forcibly mounted induces stresses on the capsule.
- document EP 427 457 describes a device needle-less jet injection fitted with a cartridge which cooperates at one end of the device, by through a cylinder head piece.
- the present invention therefore aims to remedy these disadvantages, by proposing a device devoid of magazine for cartridge and allowing injection by jet without needle of product contained in a cartridge directly placed at the head of said device, in rigorous aseptic conditions, for individual use.
- the injection cartridge of a product in particular pharmaceutical disposable needle-free jet intended to be fixed to a first end of the body of a injection device, the second end of the body receiving a cap which, thanks to a relative movement body, train an arming device, cooperating with a percussion member intended to cooperate with the cartridge, this cartridge comprising two elements, the first glass element creates the container in front contain said product, characterized in that the second is consisting of a plastic envelope which overmold said first element and in that said cartridge has means at one of its ends for the engagement and securing of said cartridge on the nose of the injection device.
- the device object of the invention essentially comprises a body 1 extending in the form of a tube, in particular of cross section cylindrical, intended to receive an arming device 2 linked to a cap 3, in particular knurled in order to improve its gripping by the user, provided at one end 4, 5 of said body.
- the cap is made from a tube portion, similar in cross-section to that of the body main of said device, the diameter of which is however higher to allow relative movement of rotation around the body and cooperates through a attachment device 6, in particular of the key type, to a ring 7, itself secured to a clamp 8.
- Said ring is fitted with play at the end of the body 1 and can turn freely in the latter, its axial position in the tube being determined by means of a radial stop 9 at the wall of the tube and opening into a circular groove 10 made on said ring 7 and positioned opposite the stop 9.
- the rotational movement from the cap 3 is transmitted by through the attachment device 6 to the ring.
- Said ring 7 is further provided with a central recess 11 for the passage of a striker 12, free in translation axial and opening out inside said clamp 8.
- This clamp constitutes one of the links of the arming device. Overall cylindrical in shape, it is provided with a plurality of cutouts 13 oriented substantially parallel to the axis of the body so as to conform a plurality of flexible tabs 14. Provision is also made for tap the internal bore 15 of said clamp 8, so as to form imprints capable of being screwed around a threaded portion 16 provided on a rod 17 forming striker. The thread pitch is determined according to the chosen reduction and the stiffness constant of a spring 18.
- the intensity of the striker can also be adjusted using a preset overwrite spring, the inter-turn space can be adjusted by via a wheel 46 moving on the rod 17 and in contact with 18 or through a stack washers arranged between the spring 18 and a ring 25.
- the turns of spring 18 are compressed by the relative rotational movement between the cap 3 and the body 1.
- the cap 3 includes a safety device 47 which covers the striker rod 12.
- This safety device 47 is connected to the cap 3 via a articulation 48 which allows a rotational movement of this last 47, between a locked position and a position unlocked from the striker rod 12.
- the rotation of the safety device 47 also makes it possible to act on the attachment member 6 between the cap 3 and the ring 7. Indeed, it is imperative that the user cannot arm the percussion device only when the percussion device security 47 covers the striker rod 12; it is why, when the safety device 47 is locked on the cap 3, it acts on the organ attachment 6 so that it authorizes the transmission of the rotational movement between the cap 3 and ring 7.
- the peripheral envelope of the clamp is enclosed by a spacer 21, also of section similar to that of body, the outside diameter of which corresponds to the diameter inside the body, so as to conform areas of guidance. Its axial position inside the body being limited on the one hand, at one of its ends 23, 24, by a pin 22 crossing right through and radially the striker 12, and on the other hand its other front end constituting a bearing surface for a spring 43; the axial position of the spring and its other bearing surface being further limited for example by a ring 25 inserted in the body, integral with said rod 17 and immobilized axially optionally by a circlip 26, or by a shoulder on the stem.
- the user prints a movement relative rotation between the body 1 and the cap 3; as we saw earlier, the rotational movement of the cap is transmitted both to said ring 7 and to the clamp 8 secured to the latter; the few fillets of said clamp 8 engaged with those of the rod allow initiate the translational movement between the rod 17 (forming a screw) and the clamp 8 (forming a nut) and the relative approximation of these two parts.
- This movement of translation compresses the turns of spring 18 until the inter-turn space is reduced to the maximum.
- the coil spring can be replaced by a coil spring or by any other device elastic.
- the user prints a light push on the striker 12, the pin 22 projecting radially and in contact with one of the front faces 23, 24 of the spacer, transmits a relative translational movement between the spacer 21 and the clamp 8, which releases the end of the latter from a span conical 27 provided at the bottom of the bore of said spacer 21.
- the thrust of the spring 18 combined with the flexibility of the tongs of the pliers release the respective threads previously engaged, thus causing a movement of translation, almost impulsive of the whole of the rod.
- a connecting member 38 not allowing the relative movement of rotation between these two pieces only in one direction of rotation.
- a disengageable connecting member 38 consisting mainly of two parts 39, 40 in particular of circular section.
- One of the parts 39 is integral with the cap 3, while the other 40 is linked to the clamp 8 and to the body 1 by means of a groove 44, each of the parts moreover has at their face in contact of a plurality of zones 41 in relief.
- zones 41 have a profile capable of allowing on the one hand a relative sliding between the parts 39, and 40 according to a direction of rotation between the cap 3 and the body 1 and on the other hand to transmit the torque in the other direction of rotation of the cap 3 relative to the body 1.
- the zones 41 in relief are produced from a plurality of teeth, in particular with a triangular cross section.
- a cartridge 28 by known means such as in particular by screwing, by clipping (socket, bayonet).
- the plastic used in the overmolding operation must be able to withstand a sterilization operation at high temperature (around 120 ° C), approved for pharmaceutical applications, not being sensitive to temperature differences in terms of its expansion, being since 28 cartridges are typically stored in an atmosphere whose temperature is between 2 and 10 ° C.
- the plastic used is translucent, or even transparent and can be tinted.
- TPX polymethylpentene
- the first glass element 49 generally in shape substantially cylindrical, has at each end a orifice 29, 30.
- One of the orifices 30 has a diameter substantially equivalent to the diameter of the rod 17, while that the other 29, of small diameter, in particular of the order of a few tenths of a millimeter, serves as a nozzle.
- the cavity internal of said cartridge is vacuum filled with a active ingredient 31 and is optionally coated with a film 32 of material, compatible with physico-chemical properties said product in order to minimize the adsorption phenomenon.
- the cartridge 28 thus formed by the overmolding of a material plastic on a first glass element 49, comprises one of its ends, means 51 allowing the engagement and securing of said cartridge on the nose of the injection device.
- the means 51 allowing the engagement and the solidarity are carried out during the operation of overmolding via a plurality of lugs 52 protruding radially and arranged according to the diameter of said cartridge 28, these pins cooperating at the level of bayonets provided at the end 53 of the device injection.
- the other end 54 of said cartridge 28 is shaped as a flat surface intended to be applied against the user's skin surface.
- the outlet orifice 31 formed on this end 54 must be protected from possible environmental contamination surrounding and for this purpose, there is a cap 55 provided in the center of an elastomeric seal 56, in particular in silicone.
- This cap 55 is obtained by a molding process of plastic material, possibly similar to that composing the cartridge.
- the cap 55 advantageously has side walls 57 which enclose the end of said cartridge 28, said walls 57 being provided at their ends with raised areas 58 allowing their clipping at the level of footprints 59 provided on the outer side walls of said cartridge 28, thereby ensuring maintenance of the cap 55 on the cartridge.
- the upper wall 60 of the cap 55 forms a zone of grip which allows the user to position the pins 52 of the cartridge 28 in line with the bayonets of the injection device and by a simple movement of rotation, to lock the pins 52 in the bayonets and allow, when the user continues to print at cap 55 and therefore to the cartridge 28 which is integral with it this rotational movement after locking of the pins 52, separate the side walls 57 of the cap 55 from the impressions 59 of the cartridge 28, so as to put the injection device ready for use.
- the elastomer seal 56 is obtained during a simultaneous molding operation of the cap 55.
- the elastomer seal 56 is attached and forcibly mounted in an orifice 61 provided on the internal wall 62 of the cap 55.
- the cartridge 28 thus obtained is for single use and therefore disposable.
- the opening 30 is closed of the cartridge by a cover 33 in order to guarantee satisfactory aseptic conditions.
- a cover 33 for closing the dose, this having to communicate to the liquid the pressure exerted by the piston of a striker.
- one provides for the striker piston to be depressed a few millimeters in the cartridge body so that the effort percussion is directed and centered in the axis of the cap in elastomer 34 to avoid any risk of bursting of the first glass element forming the cartridge 28.
- the latter is empty and is filled in by the user just before use.
- the outer envelope of said cartridge has by elsewhere, on the one hand by means of attachment 35, 35 'to said body (no screws, pins ...), and on the other hand relief 36 for gripping by the user.
- the face front corresponding to the nozzle optionally includes a bowl 37 whose depth is variable but guarantees that the jet coming out of the nozzle orifice has the time necessary for its hydrodynamic establishment before subcutaneous, intradermal or intramuscular injection.
- the invention as described above is of very easy to use: there is no more sterilization, or washing the device, while ensuring safety increased for the user due to the absence of a needle and unable to perform reuse without having previously recharged with a new dose in the device, the method of fixing the cartridge avoiding all the risks of bursting of the latter due to the absence breech.
- This invention is advantageously adapted to a use by an individual user without specific knowledge of subcutaneous injections, intradermal or intramuscular, it reduces on the one hand the risk of accidents, always possible with needle injection means and secondly it removes the fear of being bitten as well as any risk of contamination.
- the use of this device allows more to respect the patient's chronobiology.
- This invention finds advantageous developments in the injection of a low volume dose, up to 0.05 in particular to 0.2 ml. It is of particular interest for administering drugs or vaccines to humans or the animal. These include, among other products, polypeptides or peptides, such as enzymes and everything especially calcitonin, used for the prevention of bone loss and the treatment of osteoporosis or migraine medications.
- polypeptides or peptides which can be administered by the device which is the subject of the invention, include hormones, such as insulin, somatostatin, the hormone growth, clotting factors, for example anti-hemophilic factors, plasma components, such as erythropoietin, anti-viral polypeptides, such as interferons or immunomodulators, such as lymphokines.
- hormones such as insulin, somatostatin, the hormone growth, clotting factors, for example anti-hemophilic factors, plasma components, such as erythropoietin, anti-viral polypeptides, such as interferons or immunomodulators, such as lymphokines.
- This device is also specially suitable for administration of vaccine preparations.
- the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown above, but that it encompasses all variants.
- the cartridges can be presented in front of the rod striker using a barrel or magazine, they can also understand the dose of the product to be injected.
