Abstract

The method involves erecting side walls (9) at right angles, while during punching out of the steel sheet, the base plate (3) of the nut section (2) remains connected to the retainer plate (5) via a narrow web (14). The base plate is bent around the web, and pressed down between the side walls, parallel to the retainer plate. The side walls are bent, until they cover the side edges of the base plate. This is separated from the retainer plate by cutting the web. Two webs (7,8) are punched out of the retainer plate, to limit the longitudinal movement of the base plate.

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a two-part cage nut from a sheet metal plate, consisting of a holding part and a nut part slidably mounted thereon. The nut part can be provided with a threaded sleeve for metric thread as well as with a catchy sheet metal thread embossing. The displaceable mounting of the nut part serves the purpose that the nut can align itself to the screw axis within certain limits.

The manufacture is usually carried out in such a way that the holding part with its lateral limiting tabs (the so-called cage) and the mother part are punched and worked separately from one another, that the mother part is then applied with its base plate to the holding plate and finally the lateral limiting tabs until the side edges overlap be bent around the base plate (EP 0 391 764 B1).

This manufacturing process is relatively expensive because the separately manufactured individual parts for assembling the mother part must first be brought together in the correct position and then connected to one another in a further operation.

The object of the invention is to design and coordinate the punching and bending steps required to produce the cage nut so that the positioning of the nut part and the shearing off of the board can be carried out in one operation without auxiliary work.

This object is achieved in accordance with the present invention in that the base plate of the nut part initially remains connected to the holding plate via a narrow web during punching out of the sheet metal blank, that the base plate is then bent around the web and pressed parallel to the holding plate between the raised side walls, that the side walls are then bent over to cover the side edges of the base plate and finally the base plate is separated from the holding plate by shearing off the bent web.

Hierbei ist es besonders vorteilhaft, wenn die Begrenzungsstege entsprechendBecause the mother part is only separated from the holding plate in the last working step, the holding part and the mother part can be produced on the same production tool in a continuous work sequence and the assembly of the mother part can be integrated into the production tool. It is particularly advantageous here if the boundary webs are corresponding

den Angaben im Anspruch 2 an beiden Enden der gelochten Halteplatte aus der Platine ausgestanzt und hochgebogen werden und nach Anspruch 3 die beiderseits des Verbindungssteges angeordneten Begrenzungsstege so hochgebogen werden, daß der Abscherbereich - vom Gewindeteil aus gesehen - mit der Außenfläche der hochgebogenen Begrenzungsstege abschließt.the information in claim 2 at both ends of the perforated holding plate are punched out of the board and bent up and according to claim 3 the limiting webs arranged on both sides of the connecting web are bent up so that the shear area - seen from the threaded part - closes with the outer surface of the bent-up webs.

The cage nut shown in Figures 1 to 4 comprises a holding part 1 and a nut part 2 slidably mounted thereon, which consists of a base plate 3 and a threaded sleeve 4 molded therein.

The holding part 1 in turn consists of a holding plate 5 and a clamping leg 6 attached to it in a C-shape. In order to limit the displacement of the base plate 3 in front of and behind this base plate, two limiting webs 7 and 8 are bent up over the edge of the base plate 3 on the holding plate 5 . In addition to the support plate 5 formed between the ribs 7 and 8 on each side of side walls 9 and, as shown in Figure 2, around bent over the edges 3 'of the base plate 3 so that the nut member 2 is longitudinally displaceably guided between the limiting webs 7 and 8 .

As can be seen from FIG. 4, the cage nut can be plugged onto a carrier plate 10 with an oval fastening hole 11 and screwed by a screw 12 to the screwing area 13 of a component (not shown ) , tolerance compensation being made possible by the displaceable mounting of the nut part 2 on the holding part 1 becomes.

Die Halteplatte 5 sowie der Klemmschenkel 6 weisen in der Mittelachse je ein ovales Durchgangsloch 15 und 16 auf.FIG. 5 shows the holding part 1 punched out of a sheet metal blank with the nut part 2 connected via a connecting web 14 , in which the threaded sleeve 4 is already formed by deep drawing. The holding plate 5 and the clamping leg 6 each have an oval through hole 15 and 16 in the central axis.

As can be seen from the assembly sequence according to FIGS. 6 to 8, the cage nut is shaped and assembled in the following process steps:

First, the mother part 2 with its base plate 3 is bent around the connecting web 14 in the direction of the arrow M1 and pressed down between the already raised side walls 9 and the front and rear limiting webs 7 and 8 parallel to the holding plate 5 (FIG. 6).

Then the two side walls 9 are bent in the direction of the arrows M2 until the side edges 3 'of the base plate 3 overlap, with just enough distance remaining between the side edges 3' and the side walls 9 that the base plate 3 is easily displaceable on the holding plate 5 ( Figure 7).

After the threaded sleeve 4 with the base plate 3 has found its place on the holding plate 5 , the base plate 3 is separated from the holding plate 5 by the bent connecting web 14 being sheared off by a knife 18 which is moved in the direction of the arrow M 3 (FIG. 8th). Here, the shear area 17 is arranged so that - seen from the nut part 2 - it closes with the outer surface of the bent-up boundary webs 7 . In this way, the predominant part of the connecting web 14 that is no longer required can be cleanly separated.
