Description

The invention relates to a device for fixing accessories on a ladder.

The accessories to be fixed on the ladders are well known. They consist, for example, of parts of hooks, of slides, of articulation ... used to couple ladders or support tools or objects for the user.

The accessory parts are generally fixed to the ladder uprights directly by screwing, riveting, welding on the upright or by fitting in the end of the uprights or even threading on the rung.

The object of the invention is to provide a fixing of the ladder accessories which is rigid and which can be carried out at a variable and adjustable height of the ladder by the user.

There is indeed proposed according to the invention a device for attaching accessories to a ladder, characterized in that it comprises at least one slide element fixed longitudinally on a ladder upright, and various accessories for ladders shaped to slide by their base on said slide element, said accessories being able to be fixed at desired height of use on said slide element by a conventional mechanical fixing means, possibly unlockable, such as a retractable stop engaged in a notch of the amount, a spot of welding, a local deformation, the installation of a screw, a rivet etc.

This arrangement, in addition to allowing variable positioning in height of the accessories on the slide element, also makes it possible to make the accessories independent of the various ranges of scales for which they have until now been specifically shaped.

Standard accessories can therefore be used with the various ranges of ladders fitted with the fixing device according to the invention.

The accessory fixing device according to the invention advantageously involves two sliding elements per upright, these elements being of the height of the uprights and arranged opposite on the uprights, respectively on the upper and lower faces of the upright relative to the user . The sliding elements have a profile with two opposite external wings. The external face of the profile has a rounded configuration favorable to gripping the ladder. Preferably, these slide profiles have symmetry with respect to a median longitudinal plane.

This arrangement also contributes to improving the rigidity of the fitted ladders.

Naturally, if the section of the ladder uprights is rectangular - this is the most common case -, the sliding elements will be mounted on the short sides of the rectangle, respectively forming the upper and lower faces of the upright relative to the user. .

In addition, the slide elements can be obtained from manufacturing with the upright, for example by molding, extrusion of material or the like.

The invention also relates to the scales obtained and the corresponding suitable accessories.

  • La figure 1 est une vue éclatée en coupe transversale d'un montant d'échelle équipé d'un dispositif de fixation selon l'invention, et de la base de fixation d'un accessoire adapté correspondant ;

  • La figure 7 est une vue de deux échelles accouplées longitudinalement et équipées de dispositifs de fixation d'accessoires selon l'invention et de divers accessoires adaptés;
The invention is illustrated below with the aid of exemplary embodiments and with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is an exploded view in cross section of a ladder upright equipped with a fixing device according to the invention, and the fixing base of a corresponding suitable accessory;
  • Figures 2 to 6 show various accessories according to the invention;
  • Figure 7 is a view of two ladders coupled longitudinally and equipped with accessory fixing devices according to the invention and various suitable accessories;
  • Figure 8 is a view of two coupled ladders V-shaped, equipped with accessory fixing devices according to the invention and various suitable accessories; and
  • Figures 9a and 9b; 10a and 10b; 11a and 11b are enlarged views of these accessories in elevation and in section, or from above, respectively of the coupling sleeve, of the sliding foot, of the upper articulation accessories and of the spacer arms.

Only the attachment base 5 of the accessory to the upright has been shown, the upper part 7 shown partially corresponding to the conventional functional part of the accessory. This part may consist, for example, of a ladder slide element (Figure 2), hinge or pad attachment (Figure 3), a transformable ladder end element (Figure 4), an element hook (engaged on the rungs) (figure 5) or in a stop element for hanging objects (figure 6) etc ...

The ladder according to the invention comprises two identical uprights 1 obtained from aluminum alloy extrusion (only one of which is shown). These uprights are connected by steps or bars 9. The uprights are of generally rectangular section. The opposite short sides of the rectangle are each shaped with two longitudinally profiled outer wings 11 whose upper edge 13 is rounded and whose inner surface 15 (horizontal) is flat, these wings defining a slide profile for the accessories whose base 5 is hollowed out in a complementary manner and with little play. The assembly is formed with symmetry with respect to a vertical longitudinal median plane of the upright (mixed line). The accessory is therefore received sliding with little play by the profile of the upright slide, on its height and with the possibility of mounting on a small side or the other of the upright.

The accessory is mounted on its slide from the end of the upright on the short side of the desired upright then moved slidingly on the upright to the desired height of use. Then, it is fixed in position at this height by a conventional fixing means, such as a screw applied to the middle part of the base of the accessory (FIG. 4) or to its vertical lateral part (FIG. 3) and in taken in the amount.

Because these fixing means work essentially in shear, they do not need to be of great resistance. Quick fasteners can be used, such as quick-mount blind rivets. Automatic retractable stop means, operating for example by clamping on the wings of the upright or on a suitable notch formed on the upright can also be used. This gives an easy and quick movement of the accessory on the upright.

These scales were joined end to end by four identical pieces of sleeves 17 (FIGS. 9a, 9b) threaded over part of the profiled uprights of the scales. These sleeve parts are each shaped with two opposite sliding grooves 19 provided to cooperate with the sliding wings on the two short sides of the upright. They are locked in position on the uprights using conventional fastening elements, such as screws 21 fixed laterally to the uprights or a deformation of local material forming a displacement stop for the sleeve over the length of the uprights. These sleeve pieces can also be shaped with a certain length, without being limited by the location of the rungs as in conventional sleeves, so that they are able to withstand the rigidity necessary for the middle part of the assembly. of the two coupled scales, especially when the scales are long.

A foot 23 (Figures 10a, 10b) to adapt to the elevation of the terrain is mounted at the bottom of the lower ladder. The classic feet are mounted on an intermediate support fixed to the upright. Here, the foot being shaped according to a profile capable of sliding on the wings of the upright, this intermediate support piece is unnecessary. The height adjustment can be carried out by stopping the sliding foot at a desired coarse height, for example by tightening a lateral thumb wheel 25 engaged on preformed holes at regular intervals on the upright then by actuating an end screw jack 27 to obtain a fine adjustment.

A V-shaped coupling of simple ladders according to the invention is shown in FIG. 8. This coupling is carried out using articulation accessories 29 (FIG. 11a and 11b) fixed to the upper ends of the sliding elements of the uprights. of scale and of spacer arms 31 connected substantially to the middle part of the scales. Side legs 33 are further mounted at the bottom of one of the scales to improve the stability of the coupling. The spacer arms 31 are fixed to the uprights by jaw-shaped parts identical to the articulation accessories and mounted and fixed at a fixed height on the inner slide element of the ladder uprights. The lateral stability feet 33 can be adjusted on site by playing on the sliding of the support jaws integral with the sliding elements at the bottom of the uprights of the ladder concerned.

Finally, a work or support plan 35 has been mounted on one of the scales. This plan will also be fixed to the uprights by means of jaws received on one or both of the opposite sliding elements of the uprights. These jaws can slide on the uprights to adapt to the desired height of the plane and be fixed in position by an automatic clamping means on the wings of the profiles of the upright.

In addition, other accessories, for various uses, suitable for mounting on the sliding elements can be imagined, such as small parts in the form of a plastic shoe, shaped to be clipped quickly and directly onto the sliding elements of the uprights and constitute intermediate damping elements when the ladders are transported folded over the bars of the car galleries.
