Description

The invention relates to a cuboid packaging made of cardboard, in particular for cigarettes, consisting of an inner box part and a cup-shaped sleeve surrounding it in the closed position with an ejection opening and with a side wall opposite this, the box part and the sleeve being displaceable relative to one another.

Such packaging is known from GB-A 2 150 119. The blank for the sleeve of this packaging has folding tabs for the front wall and the rear wall, which are connected to one another by a folding tab forming the side wall of the sleeve. The opening of the sleeve is opposite this side wall in the finished packaging. To finish folding the packaging, use the Folding flaps connected to the front wall or rear wall of the packaging are glued together to form the front wall and the bottom wall. The sleeve is thus directly in a three-dimensional shape. The handling of such a sleeve is difficult in high-performance packaging machines, since it has to be folded out of the complex blank and then combined with the box part.

The invention has for its object to design the packaging described above so that it can be easily produced with powerful packaging machines.

To achieve this object, the packaging is characterized in that the sleeve is open in an intermediate folding position on two opposite sides, namely in the region of the ejection opening and in the region of the opposite side wall, such that the sleeve can be folded flat in the intermediate folding position, from this in the three-dimensional shape is erectable and ready to be folded, with side tabs for forming the side wall being stable in the end position after the sleeve has been erected.

According to the inventive concept, an intermediate product is formed from the sleeve, which can be folded flat due to the corresponding design. This significantly simplifies the handling of the sleeve within the packaging machine. The flat folded sleeve can also be stacked. In further steps, the sleeve is erected in a three-dimensional shape. It is then folded and combined with the box part by pushing it together.

The sleeve is designed according to the invention so that the side wall opposite the ejection opening consists of side tabs which, in the intermediate folding position, extend in the plane of the front wall and rear wall of the sleeve. This allows the sleeve to be folded flat. After erection, the side tabs are folded into the folded position to form the side wall and connected to each other.

Another independent design of the packaging according to the invention relates to an inner wrapper for the cigarettes or cigarette group. The inner covering is preferably made of stanol. According to the invention, the inner wrapping is provided in an upper region which is exposed when the packaging is open, with a tear-off tab defined by lines of weakness, in particular perforation lines, in the form of a cap which extends "in a corner". By pulling off the tear-off tab, a corner or edge area of the cigarette group is exposed, so that the cigarettes can be removed easily.

The illustrated embodiment of a packaging is used to hold cigarettes 10. Several cigarettes 10 are arranged in rows in a cigarette group 11. This in turn is surrounded by an inner covering 12, usually made of tinfoil. The inner wrapper 12 is designed and folded in a conventional manner such that the cigarette group 11 is completely wrapped. In the area of an end face 13, the inner covering 12 is folded in an envelope-like manner such that two trapezoidal end flaps 14, 15 partially overlap one another. The end face 13 of the inner wrapper 12 thus formed is provided with an opening aid, namely with a cap-shaped tear-off tab 16 defined by perforation lines. When the packaging is put into use, this is pulled off in the opening position thereof, so that an edge or corner area of the package contents is exposed.

In Schließstellung (Fig. 3) befindet sich der Schachtelteil 17 praktisch vollständig innerhalb der Hülse 18.The packaging for holding the contents of the pack (wrapped cigarette group 11) consists of two independent parts, namely a box part 17 and a sleeve 18. These packaging parts are placed on top of one another in such a way that the box part 17 fits, but can be moved, in the sleeve 18. In the closed position (FIG. 3), the box part 17 is practically completely inside the sleeve 18.

The pack content, namely the cigarette group 11 with the inner wrapping 12, is accommodated in the box part 17. In the present exemplary embodiment, this is designed as a (hard) cup, the end face 13 being completely free. The cigarette group 11 with the inner wrapping 12 protrudes slightly from the cup or the box part 17. The remaining surfaces of the box part 17 are closed.

Accordingly, a box part blank 19 consists of interconnected areas for forming a front wall 20, an opposite rear wall 21 and a bottom wall 22 arranged therebetween. On the long sides of the rectangular front wall 20 there are (outer) side tabs 23 and on the long sides of the rear wall 21 corresponding ( inner) side tabs 24 arranged. These are folded one above the other to form box side walls and connected to one another by adhesive. Bottom corner flaps 26 connected to the side tabs 23 are folded against the inside of the bottom wall 22.

In the area of a removal opening to be created by tearing open the inner casing 12 on the end face 13, there is a removal aid in the form of a recess 27, 28 which is open to the upper, free edge of the box part 17 or the front wall 20 and the rear wall 21 Box part blank 19, recesses 27, 28 facilitate the removal of cigarettes 10 with two fingers when the packaging is open.

The sleeve 18, which is also made of thin cardboard, almost completely surrounds the box part 17 in the closed position, namely except for a narrow, rectangular ejection opening 29. This corresponds to the size of an opposite side wall 30 of the sleeve 18. The cross section of this ejection opening 29 is the cross-sectional dimension of the box part 17 adapted so that it can be pushed out of the sleeve 18 and pushed back into the latter via the ejection opening 29 can.

The remaining sides or surfaces of the sleeve 18 are (predominantly) closed, so that the sleeve 18 also has a cup-like shape with a laterally directed opening.

Accordingly, a sleeve blank 31 consists of surface areas for forming a front wall 32, an opposite rear wall 33 and a bottom wall 34 arranged therebetween. To form an end wall 35, a cover flap 36 is attached to the rear wall 33. This is connected by gluing or the like to a connecting tab 37 which is formed on the upper, free edge of the front wall 32.

After folding the walls and flaps described above, a tubular intermediate folding structure results, as shown in FIG. 5. In this partially folded embodiment of the sleeve 18, it can be folded flat, with the front wall 32 and rear wall 33 lying directly against one another, to be precise offset. For the completion of the packaging, the sleeve 18 is erected into the position shown in FIG. 5 and folded.

The largely closed side wall 30 is formed by overlapping side tabs 39, 40, which are each arranged on the longitudinal edges of the front wall 32 and rear wall 33. In the present exemplary embodiment, the side tabs 39 and 40 are designed as tab sections with central interruptions. This creates a side wall 30 consisting of two spaced partial side walls 38. At half height there is an opening which extends over the full width of the side wall 38, namely an actuating opening 41. This enables pressure to be exerted on the box part 17 in FIG Closed position for opening the packaging, namely for pushing the box part 17 out of the sleeve 18. In the intermediate folding position according to FIG Side tabs 39, 40 directed in the plane of the front wall 32 and rear wall 33.

The described design of the packaging enables "one-handed operation". The packaging is gripped between two fingers. A third finger can move the box part 17 into the open position via the actuation opening 41. The return movement of the same into the starting position within the sleeve 18 can also be accomplished with one hand.

Zu diesem Zweck läuft der Schachtelteil 17 bei der Ausschubbewegung gegen einen Anschlag der Hülse 18.Box part 17 and sleeve 18 are secured against complete pushing out of the box part 17 against each other. For this purpose, the box part 17 runs against a stop of the sleeve 18 during the extension movement.

In the present exemplary embodiment, an upright edge 42 of the sleeve 18 forms a stop as a limitation of the ejection opening 29, namely by means of a stop flap 43 folded over at an acute angle. This extends as part of the sleeve blank 31 over the full height of the sleeve 18. In the intermediate folding position 5, the stop tab 43 extends in the plane of the front wall 32 and thus enables the sleeve 18 to be folded into a flat position. When the sleeve 18 is finished in the unfolded position, the stop tab 43 is folded inwards, namely against the front wall 32. As a result, the stop tab 43 automatically comes to an acute-angled position in which the function as a stop is immediate. In the present exemplary embodiment, the edge edges 42 are provided on both ropes of the opening 29 with a stop tab 43, 44, so that two stops are formed.

Counterstops are formed on the box part 17 - in the present exemplary embodiment, only a counterstop - which engage the stops (stop tabs 43, 44) of the sleeve 18. The counterstop will here also formed by a folded part of the box part blank 19. A stop flap 45 formed laterally is folded out of the front wall 20. This is formed by a U-shaped stamping 46 as a tell surface of the front wall 20, approximately in the middle. A fold or pivot axis 47 of the stop tab 45 is formed by perforations. These run within an upright folded edge 48 of the box part 17. It is a folded edge 48 which lies within the sleeve 18, that is to say does not emerge from it.

The described arrangement of the stop tab 45 has the surprising advantage that when the box part 17 is folded, namely when the side tabs 23 are folded, the stop tab 45 automatically emerges from the plane of the front wall 20 and reaches an acute-angled relative position, as shown in FIG. 4. This results from the material tension that remains within the pivot axis 47 of the stop plate 45.

A correspondingly designed stop tab can additionally or alternatively be formed in the area of the rear wall 21.

The stops and counter-stops formed from acute-angled blank parts or folding tabs have opposite directions, so that when the box part 17 is pushed out of the sleeve 18, a stable, insurmountable mutual engagement is reliably produced. The stop tab 43 directed into the interior of the sleeve 18 receives a free edge of the oppositely directed stop tab 45 of the box part 17 (FIG. 4). The arrangement of these stop members within the narrow space between box part 17 and sleeve 18 also prevents deformation in the sense of folding stop tabs 43 or stop tab 45. The stop and counter-stop engage with each other like barbs.

When the box part 17 is returned into the sleeve 18, the stops (stop tab 43 and stop tab 45) emerge from the positive engagement. However, the stops in question always remain in the stop function due to the material tension and the spatial conditions.

The inner wrapping 12 made of tearable material, in particular tinfoil, is designed here in a special way, and in particular with adaptation to the box part 17, so that simple handling is possible when the packaging is put into use.

The inner casing 12 is provided with an opening aid in the form of a removable tear-off tab 16. This is defined in the inner casing 12 by lines of weakness, namely perforation lines 50, 51. The cap-shaped tear-off tab 16 formed in this way is located on the upper side of the inner casing 12, specifically on the side free when the box part 17 is pushed out of the sleeve 18 in the region of the upper, corner-side packing corners. Furthermore, the tear tab 16 is formed in the region of the recesses 27, 28 of the box part 17, so that the tear tab 16 can be easily grasped in a position according to FIG. 1 when the pack is put into use.

In the present exemplary embodiment, the inner covering 12 consists of an elongated, rectangular blank (FIG. 9). This is folded in a known manner over a bottom wall 52, ie from below, around the cigarette group 11 in a U-shape. This results in side tabs 53, 54 which are folded with a partial overlap in the region of a side wall (FIG. 8). Also in the area of the end face 13, end flaps 14, 15 are folded with partial overlap, in an envelope-like shape.

In this (known) design and arrangement of the inner sheath 12, a cap-like tear-off tab 16 which can be pulled off "by corner" results from two mutually corresponding or complementary partial tabs 55, 56 at corner regions spaced apart from one another in the region of the cut (FIG. 9). These complement each other in the formation of the inner wrapper 12, so that an edge-side corner region of the package contents is exposed by pulling off the two partial flaps 55, 56. It makes sense to first pull off one partial tab 55 and then the other partial tab 56. The partial flaps 55, 56 are delimited in the region of the cut by the two perforation lines 50, 51 of the same length in the present case at a right angle to one another.
