Claims (35)

  1. A drain plug, for example for sanitary appliances, of the type having a plug body (1) with an upper end (11) intended to be fixed under the drain hole of a sanitary appliance and a drainage orifice (14) located at a distance from said upper end (11) and intended to be connected to a drainage conduit, and a valve (6, 206, 306), said valve (6, 206, 306) being located in such a way as to close said drainage orifice (14), characterised in that said valve (6, 206, 306) is subject to control means (7, 330) extending into the plug body (1) above the drainage orifice (14), such that said control means acts on the face of the valve (6, 206, 306) facing towards the interior of the plug body (1) and does not obstruct the drainage conduit.
  2. A plug according to Claim 1, characterised in that the valve (6, 206) passes from a position in which the drainage orifice (14) is closed to a position in which it is open, by at least one rotational movement about a shaft (66, 266) substantially parallel to its plane.
  3. A plug according to Claim 2, characterised in that the control means (7) of the valve (6, 206) extends into said plug body (1) through an orifice (18) in the wall of the plug body.
  4. A plug according to either of Claims 2 or 3, characterised in that the plug body (1) has, close to said drainage orifice (14), a cradle (16, 216) in which the shaft (66, 266) is located.
  5. A plug according to Claim 4, characterised in that the cradle (16, 216) has semi-cylindrical bearings having a radius similar to the radius of the shaft (66, 266).
  6. A plug according to either of Claims 4 or 5, characterised in that the shaft (66) rests on cam profiles (90) of the cradle (16).
  7. A plug according to Claim 6, characterised in that the cam profiles (90) are formed from two cylindrical portions (91, 93) connected by an oblique ramp (92).
  8. A plug according to one of Claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the valve (6, 206) is in the form of a disc (61, 261) of diameter substantially equal to that of the orifice (14).
  9. A plug according to any one of Claims 2 to 8, characterised in that the valve (6, 206) has, on its surface facing towards the interior of the plug body (1), an arm (65, 265) perpendicular to its plane.
  10. A plug according to Claim 9, characterised in that the perpendicular arm (65) is carried by a diametral arm (64) on the face of the valve (6) facing towards the interior of the plug body.
  11. A plug according to Claim 9, characterised in that the perpendicular arm (265) depends from a diametral arm (264) located, at a distance from the surface of the disc (261) facing towards the interior of the plug body, on an axial end piece (268) of said disc (261).
  12. A plug according to one of Claims 9 to 11, characterised in that the arm (65,265) carries the shaft (66, 266) parallel to the plane of the valve (6, 206) close to its end nearest to the disc (61, 261).
  13. A plug according to Claim 12, characterised in that the arm (265) is formed by two parallel arms (255) separated from one another, each carrying at its free end a cylindrical enlargement (256) forming a portion of the shaft (266).
  14. A plug according to either of Claims 12 or 13, characterised in that the arm (65, 265) is shaped, at its end furthest from the disc (61, 261), in order to be joined to control means.
  15. A plug according to Claim 14, characterised in that the control means is formed by a cable (7) having a widened end (71).
  16. A plug according to Claim 15, characterised in that the cable (7) extends into the fork-shaped end (67) of the arm (65), with its widened end (71) against the surface of said fork (67) facing towards the interior of the plug body (1).
  17. A plug according to Claim 15, characterised in that the end remote from the disc (261) of the perpendicular arm (265) and the diametral arm (264) form a housing for said widened end (71).
  18. A plug according to any one of Claims 15 to 17, characterised in that the cable (7) extends into the plug body (1) through a passage-forming tube (17) opening into the orifice (18) in the wall of the plug body (1).
  19. A plug according to Claim 18, characterised in that the end of said passage-forming tube (17) is closed by a packing-joint (8).
  20. A plug according to Claim 19, characterised in that the cable (7) is surrounded by a sheath (207) of which the end is fixed to a ring (272) having a perpendicular plate (273) applied by a cap (274) against the end of the passage-forming tube (17).
  21. A plug according to one of Claims 15 to 20, characterised in that the end of the cable (7) is fixed to a sleeve (270) having the enlarged end (71) at one of its ends, said sleeve (270) carrying a toroidal joint (277) to ensure sealing in said tube (17).
  22. A plug according to Claim 16, characterised in that it has protective means such as a half-spout (19) joined to the wall of the plug body (1) and extending above the arm (65) of the valve (6).
  23. A drain plug according to Claim 1, characterised in that the valve (306) is mounted so as to be axially movable with respect to the drainage orifice (14).
  24. A plug according to Claim 23, characterised in that the valve (306) is joined to a rod (330) slidably mounted in a shaft (320) carried by a perforated basket (310) located above the drain hole (21) of the appliance.
  25. A plug according to Claim 24, characterised in that the shaft (320) has an internal bore therethrough in two parts (322, 323) of different diameters.
  26. A plug according to Claim 25, characterised in that the part (323) of the smaller diameter bore opens at the lower end of the shaft (320) facing towards the valve (306).
  27. A plug according to either of Claims 24 or 25, characterised in that the part (323) of the smaller diameter bore has two axial grooves (324).
  28. A plug according to Claim 27, characterised in that the rod (330), of diameter such that it can slide in the smaller diameter bore part, has axial ribs (333) intended to slide in the grooves (324).
  29. A plug according to Claim 28, characterised in that in the zones located between the grooves (324) the shoulder (325) located on the shaft (32) between the different diameter parts (322, 323) of the internal bore, is formed with hollows (326).
  30. A plug according to Claim 29, characterised in that for the open position of the drainage orifice (14) of the valve (306), the lower faces (336) of the ribs (333) of the rod (330) are disposed in the hollows (326) of the shaft (320).
  31. A plug according to any one of Claims 15 to 22, characterised in that the cable (7) is actuated by a control assembly formed by a control housing (100) engaged in an opening (23) in the upper plane (24) of the sanitary appliance.
  32. A plug according to Claim 31, characterised in that the housing (100) encloses a rocker formed by a plate (72) articulated on a pivot (102), to one end of which is attached the end of the cable (7).
  33. A plug according to Claim 31, characterised in that the housing (100) encloses a rocker (272) pivoted by its axis (201) on a support (202), under one of the knobs (203, 204) of which is attached the end of the cable (7).
  34. A plug according to any one of Claims 31 to 33, characterised in that a sleeve (217) is fixed to the end of the sheath (207) of the cable (7) and held by resilient lugs (219) of the housing (100).
  35. The use of a plug according to any one of the preceding Claims to ensure the drainage of a sanitary appliance, characterised in that said plug is fixed, on the one hand, by its upper end (11), on a wall (20) adjacent a drain hole (21) of the appliance, and, on the other hand, to a drainage conduit (5) with which it communicates through a drainage orifice (14).
