Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein elektrisches Schaltgerät (10, 30, 50, 70), insbesondere einen Selbstschalter, wie z. B. Leitungsschutzschalter oder Motorschutzschalter, mit einem Hauptstrompfad (12, 32, 52, 72) zwischen einer Zugangsklemme (20, 40, 60, 80) und einer Abgangsklemme (21, 41, 61, 81), mit wenigstens einer Hauptkontaktstel­ le (18, 38, 58, 78) im Hauptstrompfad (12, 32, 52, 72), die von einem Magnetauslöser (14, 34, 54, 74) und/oder einem thermischen Auslöser (16, 36, 56, 76) beaufschlag­ bar ist und mit einer Lichtbogenlöscheinrichtung (22, 42, 62, 82) zusammenarbeitet. Ferner weist das Schaltge­ rät einen zum Hauptstrompfad (12, 32, 52, 72) parallel angeordneten Nebenstrompfad (26, 46, 66, 86) auf, der eine Strombegrenzungseinrichtung (28, 48, 68, 88) be­ sitzt. Der Nebenstrompfad (26, 46, 66, 86) ist über die Lichtbogenlöscheinrichtung (22, 42, 62, 82) mit dem Hauptstrompfad (12, 32, 52) verbunden und im ungestörten Betrieb stromlos. Erst ein Schaltlichtbogen der geöffne­ ten Hauptkontaktstelle (18, 38, 58, 78), der in die Lichtbogenlöscheinrichtung (22, 42, 62, 82) einläuft, schaltet den Nebenstrompfad (26, 46, 66, 86) ein.
