Description

The invention relates to an impact detonator, with an ignition capsule which can be pierced from behind by an ignition pin, with locking bodies which are in their locking position on the one hand in a recess in the ignition pin and on the other hand rest on a bolt fastened in the ignition housing and on a displaceable inertia sleeve, to hold the firing pin and with a spring, which is supported with its rear end on the inertial sleeve and tends to hold the inertial sleeve in its rearmost position.

In a known impact detonator of this type (see CH-PS 623 408), a mechanical delay device is provided so that the projectile can penetrate as deep as possible into the target.

In another known impact detonator of this type (see CH-PS 352 598), a device for delayed ignition is provided in addition to a momentary detonator, with an inertial ignition pin which is supported directly by a weak flight safety spring and is held in its initial position during the flight. In this known detonator there is a risk that when the projectile penetrates into soft earth or snow, the delay, i. H. Braking of the projectile is initially so small that the inertial firing pin hits the primer at too low a piercing speed and is therefore unable to ignite it properly.

The object that is to be achieved with the present invention is now to provide a detonator in which the detonator pin is retained during the penetration process of the projectile into soft earth or snow until the projectile has penetrated on a harder ground. The delay of the floor, i. H. its braking is then so great that when the firing pin is released, it now hits the primer at a sufficiently high piercing speed to ensure proper ignition.

The invention also aims to provide a detonator that can be destroyed relatively safely if the detonator has not responded and the projectile has become a dud.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the spring is supported with its other end on the igniter housing and that only the inertial force acts on the ignition pin to move the ignition pin against the ignition capsule.

Compared to the known inertial response system, the detonator according to the invention differs in that it uses a much stronger flight safety spring. This stronger spring means that if the primer capsule is not pierced correctly, it is more likely that the firing pin will be pushed back and a pricking, e.g. B. is practically avoided by clumsy handling of the dud.

The inertial piercing system according to the invention can be used both with an instantaneous capsule as a "double igniter", for example with an additional ignition delay, and with a delayed primer. In the latter case, the igniter is provided with a device which enables the instantaneous -Lock the surcharge system.

An embodiment of the impact detonator according to the invention is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. It shows :
  • FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the impact detonator before the projectile is fired,
  • FIG. 2 shows the same longitudinal section through the impact detonator according to FIG. 1, during the deceleration in the target,
  • 3 shows the same longitudinal section through the impact detonator according to FIG. 1, when piercing the primer.

The impact detonator according to the invention has a housing 10 with a bore 11 and a channel 12. In the channel 12, a slide 13 is slidably mounted. According to FIGS. 2 and 3, this slide 13 contains a primer 14. The primer 14 consists in the usual way of a prick-sensitive primer 15, which is located in a capsule housing 16. This capsule housing 16 has an opening 17 at the bottom through which an ignition pin 18 can pierce the ignition compound 15.

The carriage 13 can be moved from a safety position, in which the primer 14 is not in the area of the firing pin 18, to an arming position, in which the primer 14 is located in the area of the firing pin 18. In Fig. 1 the safety position and in Fig. 2 and 3 the focus is shown. In the mentioned bore 11 of the housing 10, a sleeve 19 is slidably mounted. 1, in the safety position of the slide 13, this sleeve 19 abuts with its front end against this slide 13 and with its rear end against a flange 20 of a bolt 21. This flange 20 abuts a shoulder 22 of the bore 11 and is on the other hand held by a flange 23 in the bore 11. The sleeve 19 is thus secured against any displacement in the safety position of the slide 13. However, as soon as the carriage 13 is in its focused position, the sleeve 19 can be pushed forward against the force of a strong spring 24, as can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3. In this foremost position of the sleeve 19, a shoulder 25 of the sleeve 19 bears against a ring 26 which is fastened in the housing 10 of the impact detonator. In this sleeve 19, the ignition pin 18 is slidably mounted. At the rear end of the firing pin 18 there is a longitudinal bore 27 and a transverse bore 28. In the longitudinal bore 27 of the ignition pin 18 protrudes the mentioned bolt 21 and in the transverse bore 28 there are two spherical locking bodies 29 on both sides of the bolt 21. As can be seen from FIG. 1, these two locking bodies 29 lie on an annular shoulder 30 of the sleeve 19 and thereby secure the firing pin 18 against forward displacement. In the position shown in FIG. 1, the firing pin 18 also bumps against the flange 20 of the bolt 21 with its rear end and therefore cannot move backwards either.

The firing pin 18 has an annular shoulder 31 in the central region, which interacts with a corresponding annular shoulder 32 in the interior of the sleeve 19. As can be seen from FIG. 3, the shoulder 31 of the ignition pin 18 abuts against the shoulder 32 inside the sleeve 19 as soon as the tip of the ignition pin 18 penetrates into the ignition capsule 14.

The impact detonator described works as follows:
  • The detonator described is located in the head part of a projectile. When the projectile is fired, the slide 13 is moved by the swirl or by a spring from its safety position according to FIG. 1 to its arming position according to FIGS. 2 and 3. While the projectile is in the air and has not yet reached its target, the sleeve 19 is held in its rearmost position by the relatively strong spring 24. The locking bodies 29, which are located in the transverse bore 28 of the ignition pin 18, are pressed by the bolt 21 against the annular shoulder 30 of the sleeve 19 and prevent the ignition pin 18 from moving forward. As long as the sleeve 19 is in its rearmost position under the force of the spring 24 (FIG. 1), the ignition pin is also secured against any forward or rearward displacement. The bullet is decelerated when the bullet enters a target. Only when the deceleration has reached a certain value does the sleeve 19 move forward due to its inertia against the force of the spring 24, this movement being dependent on the strength of the spring 24. The stronger the force of the spring 24, the greater the delay of the projectile must be so that the sleeve 19 can move forward. When the projectile penetrates into a target, the delay of the projectile will increase to a value which is sufficient for the spring 24 to begin to compress under the inertia of the sleeve 19. The sleeve 19 is thereby pushed forward. The inertia of the firing pin 18 causes the locking bodies 29 to bear against the shoulder 30 of the sleeve 19 and both the sleeve 19 and the firing pin 18 with the locking bodies 29 move forward. As soon as the blocking bodies 29 are no longer in the region of the bolt 21, they are pressed radially inward by the shoulder 30 of the sleeve 19. The consequence of this is that the firing pin can now move forward relative to the sleeve 19 until the priming capsule 14 can be pierced through the tip of the firing pin.

If for some reason the primer 14 has not been ignited, the spring 24 is able, when the delay disappears, to push the sleeve 19 back into its starting position according to FIG. H. 3, the sleeve 19 is pushed back by the amount a. Since the shoulder 31 of the ignition pin 18 rests on the shoulder 32 of the sleeve 19 (FIG. 3), the ignition pin 18 is also pushed back by the amount a. Thus, after the impact delay has disappeared, the firing pin 18 can no longer pierce the squib 14. Since the impact deceleration is relatively large, a correspondingly strong spring 24 can be used. If, therefore, the firing pin 18 is no longer secured against displacement by the locking body 29, as shown in FIG. 1, the firing pin 18 is still secured by the relatively strong spring 24 - after an ignition failure - against undesired puncturing of the primer 14 .
