Abstract

The invention relates to a keycap for a control unit of a telephone device, in which the keyboard is arranged inside the housing and can be pressed by means of a peg connected to the key cap for operation. The keycap, inserted in a housing opening, is provided with one or more pointed spring elements (2) on the side, which run downwards at an acute angle and are supported on a light conductor (7) in whose hole the peg (5) is inserted. Light is directed via the light conductor and peg to the characters and symbols which consist of a light-collecting plastic. Such a keycap is described in more detail in the main patent. The invention proposes a three layer construction of the keycap, the base body (4, 5) provided with the peg consisting of a clear-glass material, onto which a relatively thin layer (11) is applied with elevated symbols and around which, once again, there is fixedly arranged an opaque layer (12) with spring elements (2). <IMAGE>

The invention relates to a key cap for a keyboard arranged in a device of the electrical communication technology, in particular an operating device of a telephone device, which is inserted into a housing opening of the device and can be pressed via a pin against a key arranged inside the housing for its actuation, in which the With lateral play in the housing opening insertable key cap with a correspondingly formed pin on at least one, parallel to the housing opening side has an inclined at an acute angle to the housing, biased spring element, which is supported on a stop surface in the housing and with the top of the by Spring elements formed, with respect to the housing opening in diameter and laterally projecting contact surfaces on the inside of the housing and in which the symbols consist of a translucent plastic and an opaque K surrounded by the keyboard.

Such a device is described in EP-A-148 437 (prior art according to Article (54) 3 EPC). Telephone devices require operating devices and dialing devices to set up calls, which have so far mostly been provided with a rotating dial. However, there are also devices of this type, and in particular car telephone devices, which have operating devices with dialing keyboards, by means of which the dialing process is made considerably easier. The keyboards are provided with numbers or symbols according to their function, most of which are printed.

The operating device of a telephone device can either be a separate device with an associated handset, as is generally the case, or a handset in which the dialing and display units are integrated. In both cases keyboards are required, which are operated by means of key caps inserted into the housing openings.

The invention is based on the object of specifying a structure for the keys described in the aforementioned EP-A-148 437 which makes it possible to make use of injection molds which are essentially the same for different symbols.

This object is achieved with an arrangement according to claim 1.

Advantageous refinements and developments of the subject matter of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it

a keycap in two side views, a top view and a longitudinal section,
Fig. 5
a key cap when installed.

The key cap 1 consists of a half-shell-shaped plastic part which is open at the bottom and has a rectangular shape, on the longitudinal and transverse sides of which spring elements 2 are attached, preferably molded on. These spring elements 2 are fastened to the corners of the key cap 1 and run at an acute angle against the horizontal plane downwards, that is to say towards the housing 6 in which they are inserted. The key cap 1 is stepped at the top, the middle, raised part 3 of the key cap 1 being provided with the number or the symbol with which the key cap 1 is to be identified. The number or symbol consists of a translucent layer 11 made of differently colored, fluorescent plastic. This layer 11 is firmly connected to a plastic part 4, which forms the main body of the button. This base body consists of a translucent plastic that merges into a pin 5 on the underside. Therefor a light-collecting, crystal-clear plastic is used, which serves as a light guide with light-collecting effect.

Diese dritte Schicht trägt auch die im Hauptpatent beschriebenen Federelemente 2.Layer 11 is relatively thin e.g. only 0.4 mm and shows the symbol raised. The depressions around the symbol together with the border form the third opaque layer 12, which is firmly connected to the other parts 4, 5, 11. The layer structure can be clearly seen from FIG. This third layer also carries the spring elements 2 described in the main patent.

Fig. 5 shows the key cap 1 described above in the installed state. Several keycaps are expediently arranged in a grid and provided with the symbols corresponding to their function. The associated buttons 8 are attached in the same grid, for example on a printed circuit board 10 and soldered in the example shown via solder connections 9.

Symbole in der Tastenkappe 1.The key cap 1 is inserted into the opening of a housing 6. Here, a lateral play is provided to prevent the key cap 1 from jamming. With the top of the laterally attached spring elements 2, the key cap 1 rests on the inner wall of the housing. The spring elements 2 are supported on a stop surface which is formed by a light guide 7 which has a correspondingly designed bore for receiving the pin 5 of the key cap 1. The light guide 7 serves to supply the light to the numbers or symbols in the key cap 1.

For confirmation, the key cap 1 is pressed with its pin 5 onto the key 8 and is reset by the four spring elements 2 attached to the side of the key cap 1 in the exemplary embodiment. This spring element 2, which is made of a correspondingly elastic plastic, also ensures that the keycaps do not rattle in the housing and an undesirable noise occurs when driving.

The structure of three layers brings a considerable simplification of production with it, since the essential parts of the button remain the same for all types of symbols and thus spraying tools are saved.
