Abstract

A device is described for storing and periodically signalling the time for taking drugs, consisting of a drug container in the form of a blister pack and having a signal emitter activated in settable time intervals. The signal emitter is an electric timer having an audio signal emitter and/or an optical signal indicator and an electrically activated input receiving an electrical starting pulse at the time when a first drug dose is removed from the pack. Sensors responding to the removal of the drug doses provide the electrical pulse. The device is designed so that commercially available drug containers may be used without alteration. For this purpose the device has a supporting frame which at least partially encloses the marginal zone or edge of the drug container, and which, owing to its at least partially open design at the bottom, permits dispensing of the drug doses from the drug container which is inserted in the supporting frame. The supporting frame supports the signal emitter as well as the sensors with an arrangement of the sensors conforming to the arrangement of the drug doses in the drug container. The sensors are arranged either on the supporting frame itself or on a sensor support adapted to be inserted in the supporting frame or secured on the frame.

Description

The invention relates to a device for storing and for reminding a patient of the need to take medication with the features of the preamble of claim 1.

Such a device is known from DE-A-3335301 or EP-A-129785 and i.w. a signal generator attached to a blister pack, which is intended to remind the patient of the correct and exact intake of the coated tablets or the like stored in the blister pack. The clock of the known device is equipped with a setting input which is actuated whenever a coated tablet is pressed through the push-through film of the blister. This is done in that a conductor track is placed over the area of the film which can be pushed through and is severed when the area is torn, as a result of which an impulse is given to the watch. Further details relating to the switching of the clock and the formation of the conductor tracks can be found in said publication, all details can also advantageously be used in the present invention.

The known device is disadvantageous in that the blister pack itself has to be provided with vapor-deposited or printed lines, which makes the manufacture of the drug itself slightly more expensive, furthermore requires a very costly conversion of the packaging machines used in the pharmaceutical industry and, in particular, represents an unnecessary additional cost burden as not all blister packs with a printed conductor track can actually be used with a clock controlled thereby.

The invention has for its object to provide a device for storage to remind a patient of the need to take medication in such a way that the intake signal transmitter (clock) can be controlled as a function of the actual removal of the coated tablets from the blister pack without the Blister pack itself needs to be changed in some way. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

In contrast to the generic state of the art, it is considered to be the essence of the invention to no longer fasten the signal transmitter and the sensors interacting with it directly to the medicament pack, but rather to provide a holding frame of some kind which carries the signal transmitter and the sensors, while still being left open is how the sensors should be designed. If one speaks of holding frame in claim 1, it means that the frame is used to hold the sensors and the clock on the medication pack. Another essential feature is also that the holding frame is designed so that the dragees or tablets can be removed from the dragee container, even if it is fastened in the frame. For this purpose, the frame is partially open at least on its underside, so that the coated tablets can be expressed. The upper side can either also be made open, whereby the coated tablets are expressed by direct finger pressure on the depressions of the first film, or a cover plate of some type with flexible elements is provided, via which pressure is indirectly exerted on the depressions to express the coated tablets can.

The invention makes it possible to provide ready-made drage containers in a completely unchanged manner with a clock which is precisely controlled by the removal of cans from the package. Furthermore, it is left open in claim 1 whether the sensors are to be arranged directly on the frame or are attached to a separate sensor carrier which can be inserted into the frame or attached to it.

As is known, dragee containers exist in the form of blister packs in a large number of different dimensions and with a different number and spatial arrangement of the dragees contained therein. Thus, it may be advantageous, therefore, releasably attach the manufacturing and cost intensive parts of the frame ( 'Claim 2) provide the signal transmitter, and different for the different frame sizes blister packs with different sensor arrangements. It seems important that a holding frame, in contrast to the relatively complex electronic watch, is a cheap item that u. U. can be dispensed without excessive expenditure by the pharmacy with the appropriate pharmaceutical packaging provided that the pharmacy customer already has the appropriate signal generator for the frame.

A support plate according to claims 4 and 5, on the one hand, makes it easier to push the coated tablets through the film, without fear that the entire i. d. R. flexible blister pack is pressed out of the frame, on the other hand it is possible according to claim 6 to attach the sensors to the support plate. the support plate then likewise represents a sensor carrier. If the support plate is designed as a separate plate that can be detached from the frame, a uniform frame can be used for different blister packs, the support plate then represents, as it were, an adaptation adapter for different blister packs. In this case, problem-free electrical contact between frame, watch and in particular support plate To ensure, the support plate is provided with system contacts that are connected to lines leading to the sensors and act on correspondingly arranged counter contacts of the frame or the clock in the operating position.

A very simple way of attaching the Blister pack in frame or support plate is taught by claim 8. Furthermore, it can be advantageous to provide the support plate with cutting edges which prevent the push-through second or further film from tearing too far (claim 9).

So far it has been left open whether the blister pack and / or the support plate is inserted or inserted into the frame. The frame advantageously consists of a lower part and an upper part, the upper part being held in the position of use by a snap-snap connection on the lower part and covering the medicament container on the edge. As a result, the drug container is supported and held firmly in the frame, the entire device is easy to handle, especially if the upper and lower parts are fastened to one another by means of a hinge-like connection. The hinge can be designed, for example, as a plastic film hinge.

Claims 12-15 deal with different types of sensors attached to or interacting with the frame. For example, it is possible to design the sensors as mechanical small switches according to claim 13, which are arranged on or inside the pressure plate. Furthermore, it is possible, using the metallic and thus conductive properties of the usual severable blister foils, to provide a fixed contact, for example a ring contact, in the region of the push-through opening, which is acted upon by a tear-through section of the metallic blister foil which thus hangs out of the plane of the blister, whereby a Contact can be closed.

Furthermore, it is possible to provide the sensors as severable conductor track sections which are arranged on a separate film which can be partially torn under the medicament container and which can be torn. With regard to the arrangement, design and wiring of such conductor tracks, reference is made to the generic document P 33 35 308.1, all of the conductor tracks, circuit measures and the like. Similar features can also be used with advantage in the present invention.

Claims 17-19 deal with measures as to how the separate film with the necessary exact spatial allocation can be arranged in the frame or on the blister pack.

A further, very convenient design of the sensors is described in claim 20. In this case, the sensors are electrical pushbutton switches which, via. H. are arranged on the side of the blister pack provided with recesses and apply ejection elements to the recesses of the blister in the ejection direction. The pushbuttons have a double function in that, on the one hand, they cause the dragees to be pushed through the separable second film as pressure elements and, on the other hand, they serve as electrical switching means. It is possible to arrange the sensors in the form of the pushbutton switches in or on a separate holding plate and thus match them to the blister size and drage arrangement in the blister; the pushbutton switches can also be provided in a holding plate formed in one piece with the frame.

According to claims 21 and 22, the sensors are to be arranged on or in the region of the underside of the support plate or are carried by a frame base. It may be advantageous, for optical or functional reasons, to close the frame on its underside and thus i. w. to give a closed, can-like shape. To remove a dose of medication, the lid of the can-like container is opened, whereby the welded-in coated tablets are exposed for being pushed through the film. The underside of the tablet blister lies on a support plate, under which the sensors are arranged so that they respond when a dragee passes through the associated opening of the support plate or whatever type of support device (a plurality of support projections is also conceivable, which protrude upwards from the frame base against the underside of the blister and carry it). A large number of different sensors are conceivable here, which can be based on different physical and technical effects. The sensors are expediently designed as pressure sensors and can be embedded in a flexible and compressible layer. If pushbutton switches are used as sensors (cf. claim 20), it may be expedient to cover them with a flexible layer in order to prevent the coated tablets from being injured when they are pushed through by angular projections of the pushbutton arrangement. It is important that only the pushbutton switch or sensor assigned to the respective dragee may respond if the corresponding dragee is pressed through. This can be achieved, for example, in that pressure-transmitting projections are formed on the flexible layer, which protrude in the direction of the respective dragee and are either shifted in the direction of the sensor or tilted sideways when the dragee is pushed through, as a result of which the sensor also responds.

It may also be expedient to provide the part carrying the sensors below the coated tablets, namely the sensor carrier, with at least one coated tablet ejection opening in order to ensure that the coated tablet is not inside, ie. H. between the blister / support plate and sensor carrier and possibly damaged.

Bei allen Sensoren, die beim Durchdrücken sich schließende Kontakte beinhalten, ist es möglich, die zu den Sensoren führenden Leitungen netzartig unter den Schaltern verlaufen zu lassen und so jeder Schalterzeile und jeder Schalterspalte - eine matrixartige Anordnung der Sensoren vorausgesetzt - eine Zeilen/Spaltenleitung zuzuordnen, wobei bei Betätigung des ensprechenden 5 v· v 1With all sensors that contain contacts that close when they are pressed through, it is possible to have the lines leading to the sensors run in a network-like manner under the switches and thus to assign a row / column line to each switch row and each switch column - assuming a matrix-like arrangement of the sensors. when operating the corresponding 5 vv 1

Sensor, for example a pushbutton switch, both lines assigned to it are acted upon. For example, with an nxm matrix arrangement it is possible to make do with only n + m lines, which considerably simplifies the line routing (e.g. with thirty sensors arranged in six rows and five columns - eleven lines leading to the clock are sufficient to do so localize the response of each individual sensor). This is particularly advantageous if dragees of different duration of action are provided in a pack and the time intervals of the clock are to be set automatically depending on the duration of action of a dragee removed.

It can also be advantageous to design the setting device for the clock as further pushbutton switches, which are likewise arranged on a plate of the frame in a manner similar to the pushbutton switches described above. In order to prevent the signal transmitter (the clock) from being adjusted by unintentionally actuating the setting pushbutton switches, it is advantageous to make the function of these pushbutton switches switchable.

For example, in order to give a treating doctor the opportunity to check and understand the regularity of a prescribed intake cycle, the signal transmitter should also be provided with a memory for storing the times when the medications were taken from the pack, the times of removal being shown on a display on the clock or on a display separate output unit that can be connected to an output of the clock can be represented.

Furthermore, the watch advantageously has display means which indicate a missed intake of a dragee, which can be carried out by intermittent flashing or intermittent acoustic signals (reminders of the intake, for example, every 10 minutes) in order to protect the voltage source provided in the watch.

The device 1 for storing and reminding a patient of the need to take medication consists i. w. from a medicament container 2 in the form of a blistered dragee container, in which the dragees 3 are welded between a first film 5 provided with recesses 4 forming recesses and a second film 6 which can be pushed through. Furthermore, a signal generator 7 which can be activated according to settable time intervals is provided, which is designed as an electrical clock with signal generator 8 and an optical signal display 9 and a display 10, and has an electrically activatable start input 11 which receives an electrical one when a dragee 3 is first removed from the medicament container 2 Start pulse is supplied, for which 3 responsive sensors are provided for removing the dragees.

The signal generator 7 is arranged on a holding frame 13 which at least partially encompasses the edge region 12 of the medicament container 2 and which, due to its at least partially open configuration at least below, enables the dragees 3 to be squeezed out of the coated container inserted in the holding frame, part of which from the signal generator to the sensors carries leading lines 14 and on which the sensors 15 are arranged either directly or via a sensor carrier 16 which can be fastened to the holding frame 13.

The signal transmitter 7 is detachably fastened to the holding frame 13 by means of a snap-snap connection 17, input / output contacts of the signal transmitter 7 act on counter contacts arranged on the holding frame, which are connected to the lines 14 provided in the holding frame 13.

The holding frame 13 is provided on its underside 18 with a projecting edge 19 which partially covers the underside 20 of the medicament container 2.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2, a support plate 22 provided with push-through recesses 21 is arranged between the projecting edge 19 and the underside 20, which in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2 simultaneously forms the sensor carrier 16. It is also within the scope of the invention to form the lower frame part 13 "in one piece with the support plate.

The sensors 15 are fastened to the support plate in the area of the push-through recesses 21, the support plate 22, which has lines 14 leading to the sensors 15, is provided with the lines 14, electrically connected contact contacts 23, which in the operating position act on correspondingly arranged counter contacts 24 of the holding frame 13 .

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 6, the support plate 22 is provided on opposite longitudinal sides 25 with inwardly open U-shaped grooves 26 for receiving the side edges of the medicament container 2.

It can be seen from FIG. 3 that the support plate 22 has cutting edges 27 surrounding the push-through recesses 21.

The holding frame 13 consists of an upper frame part 13 'and a lower frame part 13 ", the upper part 13' being held in the position of use by a further snap-locking connection 28 on the lower part 13" and covering the medicament container 2 on the edge. Upper part 13 'and lower part 13 "are fastened to one another by means of a hinge-like connection 29.

Different sensor designs are possible. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the sensors 15, which are fastened in the support plate 22, have a sensor 30 which protrudes into the push-through path of the dragées 3 and which can be designed as a push pin, swivel tongue or the like and with an electrical contact cooperates. Furthermore, it is possible to design the sensor 30 as a fixed contact arranged in the push-through recess, which is acted upon by a foil section of the second metallic foil 6 which tears or tears when pressed through and forms a counter-contact and protrudes into the push-through recess.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the sensors 15 are designed as severable conductor track sections 31, which are arranged on a separate film 32 that can be partially torn under the medication container 2, which can be achieved by vapor deposition, printing, gluing and the like. Like. Can happen. The separate film 32 is held between the medicament container 2 and the support plate 22 with a clamp fit, it is also possible to provide the separate film 32 with at least one holding adjustment recess 33 which interacts with a holding and adjustment projection 34 of the frame 13 or the support plate 22. Furthermore, it is possible to form the separate film 32 as a self-adhesive film that can be stuck onto the second or further film of the medicament container that can be pushed through and / or the support plate 22.

In the following, reference is made to FIGS. 7 and 8. In the embodiment shown there, the sensors are designed as electrical pushbutton switches 40, which are switched over, i. H. are arranged on the side of the blister pack provided with the recesses forming the receiving pockets and act on the receiving pockets 4 of the medicament container 2 in the ejection direction (arrow 42) with ejection elements (plunger 41). The push button switches 40 are arranged in a separate holding plate 43 in the illustrated embodiment. However, it is also possible to fasten the pushbutton switches on a plate-like carrier which is formed in one piece with the upper frame part 13 '.

As shown in FIG. 7 in particular, the sensors, namely the pushbutton switches 40, are arranged in a matrix over a corresponding arrangement of coated tablets. In this case, it is advisable to allow the lines 14 to run in a network-like manner under the switches, insofar as each switch row 44 a, b, c, d has a row line 14 ad and each switch column 45 a, 45 b, 45 c each has a column line 14 a ', 14 b', 14 c 'are assigned and upon actuation of a sensor, in the present case a pushbutton switch 40, both lines assigned to it (eg 14 c, 14 b') are acted upon.

Furthermore, input elements are formed on the holding plate 43 with an adjusting device (for example a setting device) of the signal transmitter 7 as further push buttons 46, 47, the function of which can be switched off by means of a switching device (not shown).

In the device shown in FIG. 9 (there, the parts that correspond to the embodiment according to FIG. 8 are provided with the same reference numerals), the sensors 50 are arranged in the region of the underside 51 of the support plate 22. The sensors are designed as pushbutton switches, but are not actuated directly by the operator, but rather by the depressed dragées 3. This is illustrated by the directional arrows 52, 53 in FIG. 9. In order to ensure that the coated tablets fall out of the device immediately after being pushed through, 54 coated tablet discharge openings 55 are provided in the sensor carrier.

In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 10, the sensors are designed as pressure sensors 57 embedded in a flexible and compressible layer 56, the layer on the side 58 facing the blister of an i. w. closed frame base 59 is arranged. Pressure transmission projections 60 are arranged on the flexible layer 56, which are pushed or tilted when the dragees are pushed through, either in the direction of arrow 61 or in the pushing direction 62, and thus trigger a signal which is sent from sensor 57 to a matrix-like network of row lines 63 and Column lines 64 are given, which are embedded in the flexible and compressible layer 56. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 10, the drage ejection opening is not shown and is located on a side surface of the frame.

Furthermore, the signal generator 7 (the watch) has a memory 48 for the interrogable storage of the withdrawal times of the medicaments from the package, the removal times being able to be shown on the display 10 of the watch or a separate output unit which can be connected to an output of the watch, which is not shown further. Furthermore, switching means are provided in the clock which, if the dragee is not taken or removed from the pack in a timely manner, actuate a separate display device or display a specific symbol on the display 10 in order to indicate the missed intake.
