Abstract

A handgun such as a pistol or revolver, with a grip for handling the weapon, to be held by the hand using the gun, and with a second, additional grip connected to the weapon for the second hand supporting the weapon, wherein the second grip (13) is located at the lower end of the first grip (11) of the weapon (12) and projects outwardly to one side from the first grip (11).

Description

The invention relates to a handgun, in particular a pistol or a revolver, with a handle for handling the weapon during its use for the gunman's hand holding the weapon and an additional second handle connected to the weapon for the second hand supporting the weapon . Such a handgun is described in US-A-4,321,765.

As a rule, hand guns are used with one hand. A shot from a handgun is fired with an outstretched arm in order to aim the weapon as calmly as possible at the target, so that a safe and targeted shot can be fired. Experienced pistol shooters know that it is difficult to fire accurate shots, especially when it comes to using a handgun quickly, for example in the case of crime-fighting or self-defense situations. From such situations, the custom has developed that the shooter uses his second hand to support the first hand holding the weapon. Although this type of attack enables a somewhat calmer aiming and firing a shot or several shots, this type of attack only remains in a certain way a not always reliable emergency remedy.

Although it has already been proposed to attach a second handle to a handgun so that the weapon can be guided more safely and quietly, the proposal according to US-A-4,321,765 is in no way suitable for practical use because the second handle should be arranged above the weapon or its barrel and in the middle of it, which in normal handguns is more of a hindrance to weapon use, particularly in critical situations in which quick and safe action must be taken, rather than an improvement when the weapon is being carried.

The invention has for its object to improve the ambidextrous handgun, so as to increase the accuracy and accuracy significantly.

To solve this problem it is provided according to the characterizing part of claim 1 to arrange the second handle at the lower end of the handle serving for the use of the pistol or the revolver, which extends approximately at right angles to the barrel axis of the handgun from the handle on the side on which there is the second hand supporting the weapon. This means that the second handle protrudes to the left for a right-handed person and to the right for a left-handed person.

The additional second handle can be connected to the first handle of the weapon, or it can also be pivoted and locked. The pivotable attachment offers the advantage of being able to fold the second additional handle onto the handle of the weapon or its grip shells, in order to accommodate the weapon in a holster within easy reach. An additional second handle designed or arranged in this way also does not interfere with the sudden pulling of the weapon in order to bring it to a stop. Once the weapon has been drawn, there is always the option of pivoting the additional second handle into its position of use in order to be able to hold the weapon firmly and calmly with both hands when firing the shot.

Further advantageous features of the handgun designed in accordance with the invention emerge from the subclaims and from the following description of some preferred exemplary embodiments, which are illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5. Show it:

Fig. 5 shows a second embodiment of the handle designed according to the invention, each in a schematic representation.

As can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 5, on the handle 11 of the pistol 12, which is spanned by a right-handed shooter when a shot is fired with his right hand, a second handle 13 is arranged on the left side and on the lower end thereof, which, as can be seen in particular in FIG. 2, protrudes outward from the left side of the gun 12 or from its handle 11 at approximately a right angle. The additional, second handle 13 can be firmly connected to the first handle 11. This type of design will be chosen especially when it comes to special competition weapons or the like, where the bulk does not play a role in the storage of the weapon. But it is also possible to design it to be attachable so that it can be removed when the weapon is not in use. The clip-on mechanism has a releasable lock for secure, firm attachment.

The additional, second handle 13 can also be pivoted at the lower end of the handle 11 by means of a hinge joint 14; this is, if necessary with the aid of additional stop elements 15, designed such that the pivoting movement at a specific angular position of the handle 13 is limited. Means are also provided which hold the second handle 13 in the desired folded-down position, specifically without play, in order to prevent any wobbling.

A particularly advantageous position for the second handle is one in which the angle α between the vertical plane 16 (FIG. 3) and the center line 17 of the additional second handle 13 is approximately between 90 ° and 130 °. The latter position corresponds to the natural position of the fist with the arm suddenly stretched forward, which is then inclined at an angle of approximately 30 ° to 40 ° to a horizontal plane.

If the second, additional handle 13 can be folded onto the handle 11, it is expedient to arrange a recess 19 in the handle shell 18 into which the second handle 13 can be folded, so that it is at least partially in this recess 19 lies, as can be seen from FIG. 2.

If desired, the articulation of the additional second handle 13 can be designed such that it can also be pivoted all the way down so that it then lies parallel to the vertical center plane 16 of the weapon 12. In any case, the handle must be firmly lockable in the desired position, which can be achieved by suitable locking devices, but which must also be quick to release.

An advantageous and tried and tested embodiment of a second additional handle 13 is shown in FIG. 4. In this, the handle 13 is in the form of a laterally outwardly projecting, slightly downwardly inclined pin 21, of which a mandrel 22 or the like at the end facing the weapon. protrudes downward, on which the thumb of the hand spanning the pin 21 finds a firm and secure hold. Advantageously, 21 bumps 23 are arranged on the top of the pin, which come to rest between two fingers and improve the grip. What is essential is a stable attachment of the additional handle 13 or its pivot axis 14 to the handle 11 of the weapon 12. The attachment can be carried out either on the frame 20 of the handle 11 or on the handle shells 18 thereof.

A specific embodiment that is particularly suitable for revolvers is shown in FIG. 5. In this case, the handle 13 'projecting to the left side of the weapon 12' is of an angular shape and is pivotably attached to the right side of the handle 11 'by means of a hinge 14'.

Experiments with a handgun equipped according to the invention have shown that the weapon is much easier to control, especially in critical situations, and clearly allows safer shots. The scatter of the hits is demonstrably much smaller than when using the previously used method.
