Description

The invention relates to a starting sheet for windsurfers.

The starting sheets used so far for windsurfers consist of a thick sheet attached to the front end of the boom, which extends to about the mast base. The starting sheet hangs loosely downwards or is tightened with an elastic sheet that is tied into the lower third in the starting sheet and is connected to the mast foot.

The main disadvantage of these launch sheets is that it requires great and sometimes extreme effort to pull the rig lying in the water into the sail position. Difficulties in pulling up the rig are not only for beginners and less powerful athletes, but also for experts, especially when the wind is strong.

The object of the invention is to provide a starting sheet for windsurfers which allows the rig to be lighter, i.e. with less power to feather.

The invention is based on the knowledge that this object can be achieved by a starting sheet if one end of the same attacks above the boom on the mast.

The invention relates to a starting sheet for windsurfers, one of the ends of the sheet engaging the front boom end, which is characterized in that the other end of the sheet engages the mast above the boom.

A second sheet is advantageously provided which engages the first sheet.

The first and / or the second sheet preferably consist entirely or partially of elastic material.

Particularly favorable power relationships are achieved when one end of the sheet engages in the area of the mast tip.

The sheet should be longer than the distance between its attachment points.

The sheet according to the invention allows the rig to be pulled out of the water into the sail position with considerably less effort. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that when the sheet attacks the mast above the boom, there is a longer lever arm, which results in a considerable reduction in power. On the other hand, the reduced effort is based on the anatomy of the human body. In an upright position, the surfer can only attack with relatively little force. However, when he crouches, he can pull with considerably more force. On the other hand, the force required to pull the rig out of the water is significantly greater with a lower point of application of the tractive force than with a higher point of application of the tractive force. The power saving due to the extended lever arm enables the surfer to pull up the rig in an upright state and since a lower pulling force is required at such a higher point of attack, this leads to a further reduction in the force required for pulling out.

In the sheet according to the invention, it is essential for the energy saving to be explained that one end of the sheet attacks above the boom, and as high as possible. On the other hand, the other end must attack in the area of the boom, because it must be ensured that the surfer can finally reach the boom without difficulty when pulling the rig out of the water. Of course, the sheet is advantageously designed in such a way that it can be easily gripped with a rig lying in the water.

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
  • Fig. 1 is a schematic view of a windsurfer in front view with the sheet according to the invention in the pull position and
  • Fig. 2 is a schematic view of a windsurfer in side view with the sheet according to the invention in the rest position.
  • Fig. 1 shows a windsurfer, which consists essentially of board 12, mast 3, boom 4 and sail 14, the rig consisting of mast, boom and sail lying in the water.

The sheet 1, 2 according to the invention is shown in the initial pull position.

According to the preferred embodiment shown here, the starting sheet consists of a first sheet 1 and a second sheet 2. Alternatively, it is possible to omit the second sheet 2. In this case, the starting sheet 1 must be of such a length that it can be easily reached by the surfer standing on the board.

The first sheet 1 engages at one end above the boom 4 on the mast 3. It preferably engages in the area of the mast tip 6 or directly on it.

The other end of the first sheet is attached to the front boom end 5.

The length of the first sheet 1 is generally greater than the distance between the attachment points. This sheet is preferably 5-50%, in particular 10-30% and preferably about 20% longer than the distance between the fastening points. In particular, it is advantageous if the first sheet 1 is of such a length that, when tensioned, the sheet is approximately at a right angle, as shown in the drawing.

The sheet 1 can be fastened in the area of the mast tip 6 in various ways. For example, the mast tip can have suitable devices, such as a hole or a ring, to which the sheet is attached. Alternatively, a ring, a loop, a cap or eyelets can be provided on the sail tip, to which the sheet is attached.

A particularly advantageous attachment of the sheet in the area of the mast tip can be carried out via an eyelet in the sail 14 in the area of the mast tip. The eyelet can be provided in the usual way using suitable tools. In the event that no tools are available for an eyelet, small, preferably triangular plastic plates on both sides of the sail, which have holes in the corners, for example, can be fastened by means of screws and nuts. The plastic plates also have a hole in the middle. The sail is perforated according to the holes in the plastic plates. The sheet is then fastened via this middle hole in the area of the mast tip, it being possible to pass it directly through the hole or a short sheet can be passed through the hole around the mast tip, to which the sheet engages, optionally releasably.

The second sheet 2 engages the first sheet 1. The second sheet 2 is preferably slidably arranged on the first sheet 1, for example the second sheet is fastened to a ring which runs on the first sheet. This has the advantage that when the sail is pulled out, the first sheet 1 is stretched over its entire length, so that the sheet 2 can reach over the tensioned part 11 of the first sheet.

Die Schot 2 besteht gleichfalls vorzugsweise aus dickem Schotmaterial mit Knoten 15.The first sheet can consist of thin sheet material in the section 10 between the upper point of attack and the point of attack of the second sheet 2. However, the part of the first sheet 11 lying between the boom and the point of application of the second sheet is preferably made of thick sheet material, into which knots 15 are tied in order to facilitate handling. The sheet 2 also preferably consists of thick sheet material with knots 15.

Durch das Gewicht des Ringes 7 und der zweiten Schot 2 hängt die erste Schot 1 parallel zum Mast 3.2 the sheet according to the invention is shown in the rest position. Due to the weight of the ring 7 and the second sheet 2, the first sheet 1 hangs parallel to the mast 3.

The second sheet 2 is preferably of such a length that its lower end 8 extends approximately to the mast foot 9 in the rest position. In the usual way, the sheet 2 can be connected to the mast foot 9 via a rubber band 13.

According to an alternative embodiment, the first sheet 1 is divided and consists of a first part 10 which is connected to the second sheet 2 and a second part 11 which is displaceable on the first part 10 and the second sheet 2, for example via a ring, attacks.

It is also possible to make the pods entirely or partially from elastic material. Rubber pods and rubber textile pods are particularly suitable as the elastic material, the latter having a defined yield strength.

By using elastic sheet material, a different type of tensile behavior is achieved and the sheets are tensioned parallel to the mast in the rest position.

For example, part 10 of sheet 1 and / or part 11 of sheet 1 may consist of elastic material. The part 11 of the sheet is preferably made of thicker elastic sheet material. The sheet 2 can also consist of such an elastic material.

It goes without saying that the second part 11 of the first sheet 1 can also form an integral continuous sheet with the sheet 2, to which the first part 10 of the first sheet 1 engages at a suitable distance from the end of the boom.

It goes without saying that the starting sheet according to the invention, which is described here with regard to a conventional windsurfer, is not restricted to this. For example, surfers are known who have a large boom or a holding sheet instead of a boom. In this case, one end of the sheet according to the invention is fastened to the mast or to the large boom in its connecting area.
