Description

The invention relates to an assembly and repair device for vehicles, in particular construction vehicles and commercial vehicles, according to the preamble of Claim 1.
Assembly and repair devices of the kind referred to here are known from DE 10 2009 012 047 A1 and DE 20 2008 003 251 U1, for example. The installations -generally referred to as finished part assembly or repair pits - are used in workshops or production operations for the assembly or repair of motor vehicles, rail vehicles, machinery or machine parts. In this case, staff members are able to work in a pleasant environment under the corresponding vehicles and machines. The assembly and repair pits referred to here are cassettes made of steel or a similar corrosion-resistant material which are prefabricated by the manufacturer and which are inserted on site into a recess in the floor. The cassette is of singlepart or multi-part design and has two longitudinal sidewalls, end-face walls which are arranged at the ends and a base, wherein the sidewalls at least each comprise an inner wall and an outer wall spaced apart therefrom. Consequently, a cavity is provided between the inner wall and the outer wall which is used for receiving a curable filling, such as concrete. In the interests of environmental protection, it is becoming increasingly necessary for there to be a guarantee that liquid hazardous material in workshops is properly stored and disposed of. Assembly and repair pits of the kind referred to here may also be used to receive liquid hazardous material from vehicles or machinery. In this case, it may be used oil accumulated as waste, such as engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, compressor oil, machine oil or other industrial oils. Particularly in the case of commercial vehicles, such as buses or heavy goods vehicles, an oil change is practically only possible with the help of a repair pit from the underside of the vehicle, wherein the vehicle concerned is driven over the pit and the waste oil is drained into a fluid collection and transportation device arranged in the pit. Waste oil can therefore be removed from a vehicle with the help of the assembly pit and temporarily stored in a suitable tank which is occasionally emptied. This requires a workshop in which the assembly pit is arranged to have a suitable storage chamber, in particular a waste oil cellar, due to existing fire safety regulations, so that the waste oil can be stored in tanks appropriately designed for this purpose. The storage chambers for storing waste oil must usually at least satisfy the requirements of a fire-resistance rating of F30. Apart from the space required for the storage chamber, underground conduits are also necessary which run from the repair pit to corresponding tanks in the storage chamber. The laying of underground conduits of this kind is, however, associated with a significant amount of work and cost and, moreover, requires careful and constant monitoring. The known facilities for the removal and storage of liquid hazardous material in workshops are therefore not only excessively complex and expensive, but are also susceptible to faults and require continuous monitoring. DE297 21 907 U1 discloses an assembly pit for motor vehicles, specifically a so-called drying station for liquid fuels from used cars with devices for the disposal of these liquids, in particular for collecting and temporarily storing petrol, diesel, oils and the like, wherein the intermediate storage takes place in separate liquid collection containers. These are located within the pit and limit the movement space there quite substantially. The collection containers are also not located in a separate collection chamber, which means that protection against environmental damage in the event of leaks from the collection container/containers is correspondingly reduced.
The problem addressed by the present invention is therefore that of creating an assembly and repair device that creates a cost-effective and easy-to-produce alternative for the removal and storage of liquid hazardous material, in particular in workshops, particularly an alternative that is characterized by greater protection from environmental contamination and also does not limit the movement space within the assembly pit.
In order to solve the aforementioned problem, an assembly and repair device is proposed having the features of Claim 1. The assembly and repair device is used for vehicles, in particular for construction and commercial vehicles, and comprises a single-part or multi-part cassette made of steel or a similar corrosion-resistant material having an interior space, which is insertable into a recess in the floor, two longitudinal sidewalls, end-face walls which are arranged at the ends and a base, wherein at least the sidewalls each comprise an inner wall and an outer wall spaced apart therefrom, defining a cavity which can particularly be filled with a curable filling. The assembly and repair device is characterized in that the cassette comprises a separated collection chamber for holding at least one collection case for liquid hazardous material, wherein said collection chamber is hermetically sealed and is formed as a longitudinal extension of the cassette defining the assembly device. A substantial point of the invention is therefore that the assembly and repair device according to the invention is designed in a space-saving manner, as it does not require a separate storage chamber. As a result, there is no need for underground conduits which are expensive to lay, in order to receive waste oil, for ex ample, or other liquid hazardous material from a vehicle or a machine or also to supply fresh oil to a vehicle. The collection chamber integrated into the assembly and repair pit according to the invention for holding the collection case enables liquid hazardous material to be stored right in the repair pit, i.e. at the removal site, and disposed of by a tank truck. For example, a vehicle for the disposal of gear oil or the like can be positioned over the pit and a flexible channel system under the respective disposal opening of the vehicle. The oil can then be conducted out of the vehicle via the (open) channel system by a natural gradient and, where necessary, using at least one pump that works in a level-dependent manner via a pipe/hose system to the collection case (waste oil tank) in the collection chamber. It should be particularly noted in the case of collection cases for liquid hazardous material that fire safety measures are observed. A free space of at least 40 cm must usually be observed about the outer casing of the collection case. The fact that the assembly and repair device according to the invention is double-walled, i.e. it has an inner wall and an outer wall arranged at a distance from one another, means that this requirement is entirely dispensed with. The collection chamber for holding the collection case therefore requires no special dimensions, but can be implemented in the assembly and repair devices measured in the known manner. While the storage chamber for waste oil must exhibit a fire-resistance rating of at least F30, the double-walled assembly pit even falls into a fire-resistance rating category of F90 and therefore offers a multiple of the required safety of a waste oil storage chamber. The invention in this case includes integration of the collection chamber into the cassette and also an arrangement of the collection chamber as a lateral extension of the cassette.
It is particularly advantageous for a collection case for receiving liquid hazardous material to be fixedly installed in the collection chamber. The cassette is then fitted with the collection case at the manufacturing end and inserted into a ground recess directly on site. The collection case may be designed to receive waste oil or fresh oil. It is also conceivable for two or more collection cases to be arranged in a collection chamber of a cassette, wherein, for example, a collection case can be used for receiving waste oil and a further collection case for receiving fresh oil. In this case, a collection case may have a capacity of 2000 litres, for example. Because it is prohibited in principle to mix waste oils with other waste, they must be stored separately. The collection case is moreover preferably formed double-walled such that both walls are made of steel. Moreover, the collection case is preferably box-shaped, particularly cube-shaped, and can in this way utilize the collection chamber particularly effectively. Depending on the level of risk associ ated with the hazardous material being collected, the requirements made of the collection case may vary.
The collection chamber is preferably separated from the spare interior space of the cassette by at least one separating wall, in particular by means of a separating plate. The collection chamber may also be defined by a sidewall of the cassette, so that in this case only one separating wall on the side opposite the side-wall of the cassette is necessary in order to define the collection chamber. The separating wall is preferably welded to the inner wall and the base of the cassette. In addition, it may be provided with a fire protection finish on its side facing the collection case. The separating wall preferably comprises at least one opening for receiving a fluid conduit coupled to the collection case. Waste oil, for example, can be conducted into the collection case via this at least one fluid conduit. As a fire safety measure, the opening can be sealed using a fire-resistant material, in particular fire-protection foam, after the fluid conduit has been introduced into the opening. The collection chamber must be hermetically sealed to avoid the risk of explosion. The collection chamber may comprise at least one dewatering means. So that a hazardous material, in particular waste oil, can be pumped from a tank truck provided therefor out of the collection case, the cassette preferably has a displaceable cover in the area of the collection chamber, which cover allows access to the collection case. The cover is preferably made of steel or a similar material for fire safety reasons.
Furthermore, the assembly and repair pit may advantageously have a venting means in the collection chamber which may be arranged in a lower third of the collection chamber, in particular, and may provide a fluid connection to the (spare) inner chamber of the cassette.
The venting means in this case may be connected to a forced venting means of the cassette. Furthermore, the collection chamber may comprise a fluid sensor which is preferably arranged below the venting means. The fluid sensor creates an alarm device which produces a warning signal in the event of an accumulation of fluid, said warning signal resulting in the shut-off of a fluid supply to the collection case. This produces an additional safety measure of the invention. Furthermore, the collection chamber may comprise a closable dewatering means which is preferably arranged below the venting means and which can create a fluid connection between the collection chamber and a dewatering system of the cassette.
The invention is explained in greater detail below with the help of the drawing. In the figures:

Fig. 6 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a cassette with the collection chamber arranged at the side according to the further embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross-sectional view along the sectional line A-A according to Fig. 4 of an assembly and repair device 1 for vehicles according to a first embodiment of the invention which comprises a cassette 5 made of steel or a similar corrosion-resistant material which is insertable into a recess 3 in the floor. The cassette 5 comprises two longitudinal sidewalls 7 and 9 and a floor 11. The longitudinal sidewalls 9 and 11 each have an inner wall 13 and an outer wall 15 which enclose a cavity 17 between them into which a curable filling 19 is introduced.
Fig. 1 shows a front side view of a separating wall 21 which defines a collection chamber for receiving at least one collection case for liquid hazardous material such as waste oil or fresh oil. In the present case, fresh oils also fall under the heading of “liquid hazardous material”. The separating wall 21 is preferably made of metal, in particular configured as a separating metal plate, and may have a thickness of approx. 3 - 4 mm or more. The separating wall 21 is preferably welded to the inner walls 13 and the floor 11 of the cassette 5. The separating wall 21 therefore separates the collection chamber from the remainder of the interior space of the cassette 5. In the present exemplary embodiment, the separating wall 21 furthermore comprises two openings 23 and 25 which serve to receive fluid conduits not shown in Fig. 1 which are in fluid connection with the collection case. Via the fluid conduits and the openings 23 and 25, waste oil drained from a vehicle, for example, can consequently be conducted into the collection chamber and therefore into the collection case or fresh oil from the collection case and the collection chamber can be conducted into the remaining interior space of the cassette 5 and further on to a vehicle arranged above the assembly and repair device 1.
The fluid conduits may also be in fluid connection with a fluid-conveying channel not shown in the figures, which channel may be arranged in the area of the inner wall 13. If the collection case is full and a corresponding filling level signal is triggered, there is an automatic shut-off of a fluid conveying pump which conveys the oil or similar into the waste oil tank. In the fluid conveying channel, fluid which can no longer be received by the collection case can then be stored temporarily until the collection case has been properly emptied. When the fluid conduits are arranged in the openings 23 and 25, the openings 23 and 25 are advantageously provided with a fire-resistant material, in particular foamed in place in a fireproof manner using a fireproof material around the fluid conduits. Due to the double-walled configuration of the assembly and repair device 1 in the area of the side-walls 7 and 9, the attachment of a fire-protection plate to reinforce the separating wall 21 can be dispensed with. In this way, the collection chamber and, in particular, the separation thereof from the remainder of the interior chamber of the cassette 5 can be realized particularly simply by means of the separating wall 21, as no further fire-safety measures are necessary.
Fig. 2 shows a schematic cross-sectional representation along the intersection line B-B according to Fig. 4 of an assembly and repair device 1 which shows a front side view of a collection chamber 29 and a collection case 31 arranged therein. In the area of the collection chamber 29, the assembly and repair device 1 has a displaceably mounted cover 33 which can be removed, insofar as access is need- ed to the collection case 31, for the purpose of pumping out waste oil, for example. The cover 33 in this case may be part of the pit cover which is present as standard or it may be separately configured. The separating wall 21 is not shown in Fig. 2. The collection chamber 29 in the present exemplary embodiment is confined on one side by an end-face wall 35 of the cassette 5. However, it is also conceivable in principle for the collection chamber 29 to be defined by two separating walls 21 from the remaining interior space of the cassette 5. In the present case, the collection chamber 29 is therefore defined sectionally by the two longitudinal sidewalls 7 and 9, by an end-face wall 35 and the separating wall 21.
The collection case 31 is arranged in a recess 37 in the collection chamber 29, said recess extending below the passable floor level E of the cassette 5. In addition, the collection case 31 may be screwed to the floor, in order to avoid an uplift of the container in the event of a leak. An opening 39 may be provided in the end-face wall 35 which may be connected via a corresponding conduit to the collection case 31, in order to vent the tank. Depending on the hazard category of the hazardous material being stored, the collection case must exhibit additional safety precautions for explosion protection, groundwater protection and the like. The collection cases usually have a double-walled casing, the cavity whereof is filled with a leak detection fluid. A filling funnel must be provided in order to fill the collection case with fluid, which filling funnel is connected to the inside of the container via a filling nozzle. The space between the outer shell and the inner shell of the collection case 31 should be such that in the event of a leak in the inner case, the cavity between the outer shell and the inner shell can accommodate up to 90% of the filling of the inner case. The collection case furthermore preferably has a filling level indicator and a pressure gauge which can emit a warning signal in the event of a leak in the collection case 31. The collection case 31 also comprises pallet feet 41, so that where necessary a plurality of collection cases can be stacked on top of one another and the containers nevertheless remain accessible for pumping out liquid hazardous material.
Fig. 3 shows a longitudinal section through a cassette 5. This clearly shows the outer wall 47 of the collection case 31 in particular. The recess in the collection chamber 29 may be connected to a dewatering means 45 which is in fluid connection with a pump sump of the assembly and repair device 1. Otherwise, the collection chamber must be hermetically sealed in respect of the environment to prevent any risk of explosion.
Fig. 4 shows a plan view of an assembly and repair device 1 in the area of the collection chamber 29. Fig. 4 makes it clear that the collection case 31 almost completely fills the collection chamber 29. As has already been indicated above, due to the double-walled configuration of the assembly and repair device 1 it is no longer necessary for a given minimum distance between the inner wall 13 of the cassette 5 and the outer wall 47 of the collection case 31 to be observed. In this way, it is possible for a standard collection case to be introduced into a cassette which need not be wider in design than traditional cassettes. This is of particularly crucial importance in relation to the road carriage of the finished part assembly pit.
The collection case 31 comprises an opening 49 via which a tank truck can pump liquid hazardous material out of the collection case 31, particularly by means of a hose or the like, or can fill a collection case 31 with fresh oil. The integration of a collection chamber for holding a hazardous good container (collection case) in an assembly and repair pit according to the present invention is also therefore particularly advantageous because the contents of the collection case can easily be disposed of into a tank truck which is parked on the assembly pit. The pit in this case advantageously acts as a ground-protected area of a tank truck filling place. During the disposal of the hazardous material into the tank truck, it is important to ensure that the suction hose conduit is always conducted over the pit. The vehicle driver is responsible for determining the amount of free space and monitoring the filling when the tank truck is in suction mode, said driver being the filler as defined by the ADR (Accord europeen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route [European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road]). It is clear that the tank truck approved under ADR must have an overflow safety mechanism which automatically closes the floor valve of the tank truck tank when the maximum permitted filling level has been reached. This is also a crucial advantage of the invention compared with locally separately arranged waste oil storage chambers. It is clear that in order to fill or empty the collection case 31, the cover 33 must be removed from the collection chamber 29. For this purpose, the cover 33 may be automatically displaced into a corresponding storage chamber, for example. This is easily possible, particularly when the cover 33 has a shutter-type or rigid design. The cover 33 is, moreover, preferably configured such that it can be driven over and provided with an anti-skid coating.
Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 show a further embodiment of the invention in which the collection chamber 29 and the collection case 31 disposed therein are arranged outside the inner chamber 51 of the cassette 5. The separated collection chamber 29 therefore forms an extension of the cassette 5. In particular, the collection chamber 29 immediately abuts the longitudinal sidewall 9 which therefore not only forms the longitudinal sidewall 9 of the cassette 5, but also the longitudinal side-wall of the collection chamber 29. The cassette 5 and the collection chamber 29 therefore share a common wall. The same may also apply when the collection chamber 29 adjoins an end-face wall of the cassette 5 in a further embodiment of the invention. The remaining free longitudinal sidewall 53 and the end-face walls 55 and 57 of the collection chamber 29 are preferably likewise configured in the same way as the walls of the cassette 5 in a double-walled manner with a cavity 17 therebetween for receiving a filling.
As also with the embodiment of the invention according to Figs 1 - 4, the collection chamber 29 according to Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 comprises a feed channel 57 for supplying waste oil or the like to the collection case 31, wherein said feed channel is foamed in place using a fireproof material. The feed channel 57 in this case is introduced into the longitudinal sidewall 9 and engages therethrough. In the same way, it is also possible for electrical conduits to be laid in the collection chamber 29. The feed channel 57 may be attached via corresponding hoses/pipes to a fluid conveying device (pump) and to the conveying channel described above.
Moreover, the collection chamber 29 comprises a venting means 61 which is introduced in the form of a pipe (outlet air pipe) into the longitudinal sidewall 9 and engages therethrough in such a manner that a fluid connection between the collection chamber 29 and a venting channel of the cassette 5 results. The collection case 31 may be connected via a corresponding pipeline 65 to the venting means 61 or at least end in the vicinity thereof. From the venting means 61, the gases escaping from the collection case 31 are conducted into the conventional forced ventilation system of the cassette 5.
Fig. 6 also makes it clear that the outlet air pipe is arranged in a lower area close to the floor, in particular in the lower third of the collection chamber 29. Since the gases present in the collection chamber are usually heavier than air, they drop downwards where they can be removed through the venting channel into the forced ventilation of the cassette 5.
Furthermore, a fluid sensor 67 is also provided in the collection chamber 29 which, when viewed in a height direction h, is arranged in an area below the venting means 61. The fluid sensor 67 may exhibit a float, for example, which in the event of a fluid accumulation in the floor area of the collection case triggers an alarm and causes an immediate shut-off of any oil conveyance into the collection case 31 that may be underway. The maximum height h of a fluid filling level in the collection chamber 29 at which an alarm signal is triggered may vary, depending on the height of the venting means 61. It is crucial for the fluid sensor 67, when viewed in the height direction h, to be able to detect a fluid beneath the venting means 61, so that no fluid can penetrate the venting channel. If the venting means 61 is located at a height of 10 cm above the floor, for example, the fluid sensor 67 preferably triggers an alarm or stop signal when there is a fluid level of 5 cm in the collection chamber 29.
The fluid sensor 67 and the alarm device realized as a result therefore represent a further safety measure which substantially increases the operating safety of the assembly and repair device according to the invention. Otherwise, the fluid sensor interacts with a closable dewatering means 69 which, when the fluid sensor 67 is triggered, allows an inspection of the fluid located in the collection chamber 29. The dewatering means 69 is preferably configured in the form of a dewatering channel which engages through the longitudinal sidewall 9 in the same way as the venting means 61 and therefore creates a fluid connection to the cassette 5. The dewatering channel is closed at its cassette-side end 63 using a shut-off valve and can be opened, as required, by an operator. The cassette-side end 63 preferably opens out below the passable floor level E into the interior space 51 of the cassette 5. Advantageously, the dewatering means 69 of the collection chamber 29 is preferably arranged below the venting means 61, viewed in the height direction h, since in the event of a fault fluid present in the collection chamber 29 should not be allowed to reach the venting means 61.
Insofar as there is a fault and the fluid sensor 67 detects a fluid on the floor of the collection chamber, the oil feed to the collection case 31 is switched off and a corresponding optical and/or acoustic warning signal is generated. An operator can then open the shut-off valve of the dewatering means 69, in order to determine the nature of the fluid contained in the collection chamber. If it is water, it can simply be drained off into the conventional water disposal system of the cassette 5 (pump sump) via the dewatering means 69. In this case, in order to be able to drain off as much water as possible from the collection chamber, the dewatering means is preferably arranged at the lowest point of the collection chamber. In addition, the dewatering channel may preferably be on an incline from the collection chamber 29 to the interior space 51 of the cassette 5, so that a natural gradient results which allows extensive drainage of the collection chamber 29.
On the other hand, if the fluid present in the collection chamber 29 is oil or a similar hazardous material, the cover 33 must be opened and the hazardous material pumped out professionally. Penetration of a fluid into the venting channel is therefore precluded in any event by the alarm device. It is clear that the sensor-based safety monitoring for detecting a fluid in the collection chamber 29 can also be used in the embodiment of the invention explained in Figs. 1 - 4. Otherwise, it should also be noted that the assembly and repair pit shown in Figs. 5 - 6 is prefabricated at the manufacturing end in the same way as the integrated embodiment in Figs. 1 - 4 and can be inserted into an excavated floor recess. The floor recess must then be of substantially L-shaped configuration corresponding to the shape of the assembly and repair pit.
It is evident overall that in an advantageous manner the present invention creates an assembly and repair device which allows storage of liquid hazardous material occurring in a workshop right at the point of removal, namely in the assembly pit. A special storage space and corresponding underground oil conveying conduits are not therefore necessary. The configuration of the collection chamber in/on the double-walled cassette means, moreover, that the necessary fire protection measures for the collection case 31 are not only met, but are surpassed by a wide margin. An additional fire protection plate, particularly in the area of the separating wall 21, is not necessary. Also, a minimum interval between the outer wall 47 of the collection case 31 and the inner wall 13, the end-face wall 35 and the separating wall 21 of the cassette 5 need not be observed, as a result of which the collection chamber requires no substantial structural changes to the cassette.
It is also conceivable in principle for more than one collection case to be provided in the collection chamber 29. In particular, these can be arranged one after the other in a longitudinal direction L of the cassette 5, which in turn are arranged in a joint collection chamber. The capacity of the collection case may likewise be different. It is conceivable, for example, for a plurality of collection cases with identical or different capacities to be arranged in the collection chamber 29.
