Abstract

The invention concerns a field sprayer with a spraying bar 1 and a number of hydraulic spraying nozzles 7. The field sprayer can be of the lift-suspended or trailer type. In combination with the spray nozzles 7, the spray bar 1 is provided with a number of downward directed air nozzles 4, which are supplied with blown air from a central blower 3. This is driven by a hydraulic motor 3a, connected to the hydraulic offtake of the tractor. Flexible hoses 5 connect the individual air nozzles to the blower. During the operation of the sprayer in the field, a powerful almost pointlike air flow is directed downward against the crops, while at the same time the spray liquid is brought out in liquefied form through the spray nozzles. The liquid drops mix with the air flow and are carried along with it down onto the crops. The dynamic pressure of the air flow causes the crops to "open up" and a turbulence is produced in the stem and leaf mass of the crops themselves, which contributes to an effective distribution of the spray liquid. The pointlike air flow counteracts wind drift in blustery weather. In a preferred embodiment, the blowing equipment, blower, hoses, nozzles, etc., can be mounted on existing field sprayers. <IMAGE>
