Abstract

Plastic fibres. for use as additives to concrete or mortar in building materials, are held in water-soluble bags which dissolve during the mixing with the concrete or mortar. The bags are pref. polyvinylalcohol; the fibres concerned are preferably polypropylene, polyethylene, acrylipnitrile of insoluble polyvinylalcohol. The fibres used are produced by shredding plastic films; to minimise the volume of the bags when filled with the fibres the bags are made porous, e.g. by perforating. Alternatively the bags can be intermittently welded o sewn. They can be made in different sizes so that different quantities of fibres can be utilised. Bags containing the fibres are mixed with the appropriate quantity of e.g. concrete for example in a 30 tonnes travelling mixer taking 6 cu.m mix. This mixing requires some 6 mins. The necessary polyvinylalcohol bags take only max. 1 min. to be added and dispersed. ADVANTAGE - The fibres used are easily handled during mixing. They can be accurately measured out.

Description

The invention relates to plastic fibers as Bauzu Impact agents for adding to concrete or mortar.

Such fibers have recently been used as building materials to prevent shrinkage cracking in the mortar or concrete, to reduce the H 2 O permeability and to increase resistance to shock and pressure, splitting and bending strength. The fibers can be designed as a multifilament or can be produced by cutting plastic films. They are packed in containers and the user takes from the container the amount of plastic fibers required for his concrete or mortar mixture and adds them to the mixture, which is moved on until the fibers are evenly distributed in the mixture.

This process is cumbersome because the fibers are only there Containers must be removed, which spills them can be tet and the dosage for the loading clay or mortar mixture not always correctly observed becomes.

Multiple bodies and fibers become one Ring formed and ver with the concrete or mortar mixes, whereby a uniform integration under Ver avoidance of "hedgehog formation" of fiber bundles in the Construction material is to be made.

Derwent abstract 83-779 453/40 describes one heat-insulating element in which fibers under vacuum be sealed in plastic bags.

The invention is therefore based on the object of fibers to be provided as building aggregates, which is a simple Handling during the mixing process and an exact dosage allow according to the amount of concrete or mortar.

This object is inventively characterized by resolved characteristics of the main claim.

The fact that the plastic fibers in one water-soluble plastic bags are included, the during the mixing process of the concrete or mortar dissolves, the mixing process can be greatly simplified because only the plastic bag in the Mi can be given. Here are advantageous se the bags for different amounts of fibers designed so that a quick dosage accordingly  the desired amount of concrete or mortar can be. Because the plastic bag completely dissolves, there is no waste left to be disposed of ought to.

The plastic bag is advantageously air-permeable casually closed so that the bags are not additional Include air, creating the bags with the fibers would take up more space. An inexpensive Lö Solution for the permeability is that the Plastic bags are welded intermittently.

An embodiment of the invention is in the Drawing shown and is in the following Description explained in more detail. The only figure shows a plastic bag containing the fibers the invention.

In the figure, 1 denotes the fibers, which are combined in a plastic bag 2 . The fibers 1 consist of a polypropylene, Polyäthy len, polyacrylonitrile, non-soluble PVAL or the same plastics and they are made by cutting the foils or as a multifilament. The plastic bag 2 is water-soluble and can be made from any water-soluble plastic, polyvenyl alcohol being applicable, for example. In order to minimize the storage and transport space required for the plastic bags filled with fibers, the plastic bags 2 are permeable to air. The air permeability can be achieved by perforating the plastic bag. However, it is less complex and therefore more cost-effective if the plastic bags 2 are closed in an air-permeable manner. For example, the bags 2 can be welded intermittently, which is indicated in the figure by the weld seam 3 . In another embodiment, the plastic bag 2 can be sewn to who.

The plastic bags 2 can be provided in different sizes so that different dosages of fibers 1 can be added. These amounts of fiber are adapted to the mixing devices for mortar or concrete that are usually commercially available, so that only the desired number of plastic bags or the desired metering amount must be used.

To produce the mixture of mortar or concrete and fibers 1 , the plastic bag (s) with the required dosage is added to the mortar or concrete mix, the plastic bag (s ) 2 dissolve in the water-containing mixture, so that the fibers 1 are released and in further mixing process can be evenly distributed.

As an example, a mixture of concrete or mortar and fibers was carried out in a 30-ton truck mixer, which comprises 6 cubic meters of concrete or mortar mixture. The mixing time of such a truck mixer is usually six minutes at 1 min / m 3 . The polyvinyl alcohol plastic bag 2 with the desired amount of fibers 1 for 6 cubic meters was added to the mixture, whereby it dissolved in less than a minute. The distribution of the fibers after the usual mixing time was very satisfactory.
