Abstract
The control system has a travel measuring unit coupled to an operating rod (17) moved by a working piston (40) pneumatically with low force over a large distance. A compression piston (63) moves hydraulically with large force over a short distance. The compression piston is operated pneumatically via a pressure converter (62,63). The travel measuring unit (20) produces output signals that are used to set the operating pressure at the working piston independently of the operating pressure of the compression piston. The working piston is double-action. The operating pressure of the working piston is set using electropneumatic servo valves (45,47). A sensor (71) measures the operating pressure at the compression piston.
