Das gemeinsame Kennzeichen der bisher bekanntgewordenen Systeme ist die merkwürdige Tatsache, daß versucht wird, die natürliche Bauform des menschlichen Herzens technisch nachzubilden - mit 2 elastischen Pumpkammern und Ventilen (Herzklappen). Dabei stößt man auf technische Schwierigkeiten weil Kunststoffe das Pumpen der elastischen Wände auf die Dauer nicht auszuhalten scheinen. Noch schwer wiegender ist die Tatsache, daß zum Antrieb der Kunstherzen dicke Druckschläuche durch die Brustwand hindurch operiert werden müssen. Das erzeugt Undichtigkeiten und Infektionen.
