Solche Vorrichtungen werden z.B. in der Kardiochirurgie bei der Einschätzung der therapeutischen (perioperativen) Versorgung von Patienten benötigt, um den Zustand der Herztätigkeit hinsichtlich der Druck-Volumentätigkeit des Herzens zu klassifizieren. Die Abhängigkeit zwischen der Länge und der Spannung eines Muskels entspricht am Herzen der Beziehung zwischen Ventrikelvolumen und Ventrikeldruck. Entscheidend für die weitere Behandlung ist die Fragestellung, ob auf die allgemeine Herztätigkeit durch Zufuhr von Volumen bzw. durch Stärkung der Herzkraft mittels Katecholamine bzw. einer geeigneten Kombination dieser Mittel Einfluß genommen werden muß.Such devices are required, for example, in cardiac surgery when assessing the therapeutic (perioperative) care of patients in order to classify the state of cardiac activity in terms of the pressure-volume activity of the heart. Mit der hier beschriebenen Vorrichtung zum On-Line Monitoring der Herztätigkeit wird der fehlenden visuellen Einschätzung bei minimal-invasiven Eingriffen eine Alternative geboten.
