Abstract

A thermostically controlled flow valve has a facility for limiting tongues to be inserted in slots in the rotating valve stem to restrict the range of motion. The spring biased thermostat element is located within a cylindrical housing (12) that may be rotated to adjust the required temperature setting. The outer surface of the cylinder has a series of spline type grooves (26) extending along its length. a tongue (22) may be inserted into any of the grooves and a projecting dog (23) passes into the gap between the housing (12) and a fixed outer sleeve (14). The sleeve has a reference mark (24) and an internal projecting stop (21). the tongue may be located in any groove relative to the stop (21) to limit the maximum valve setting. Two such tongues provide operation between maximum and minimum settings. An end cap (16) retains the tongues in position.
