Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining tion of gas in a liquid, especially in medical liquids such as dialysis fluid, blood and the like.
When it comes to conveying, balancing and dosing medical fluids it is important to record the gas content in the transported liquids. Especially in the field of peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, hemofiltration and related method is the determination of the air volume in the transport liquids are unavoidable.
Various methods and methods are already available for determining the gas content directions have been proposed. For example, the amount of gas by Be impact of the liquid / gas mixture can be determined with overpressure. For this purpose (cf. US 4,924,695), a sample of the liquid / gas mixture in egg ne given by a compressible tube limited sample chamber that Chamber volume reduced by pressurizing the hose from the outside and compressing the mixture sample enclosed in the chamber, wherein the volume change of the mixture sample with to determine the gas content is related to the pressure rise in the sample chamber. The be for this known methods and devices are, however, relatively complex and complicated, the technical outlay on equipment is sometimes considerable.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of an improved To create method and an improved device of the type mentioned fen, which avoid the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, with Reliable detection of the gas content with little expenditure on equipment be made possible.
Starting from the method of the type mentioned at the beginning, this task with respect to the method according to the invention solved in that the mixture pumped from both gas and liquid by a pump as well as a volu is subject to changes in pressure and pressure, operating parameters of the pump which Volume and pressure change represent, be recorded and from the operating parameters of the pump the gas content is determined.
There is therefore no measuring device provided specifically for determining the gas content device used, but directly on the pump, dialysis Balance and metering device used. Here the liquid needs whose gas content is to be determined, not in a specially provided sample Chamber branched or separated, the determination of the amount of gas in the passage of the liquid through the pumping device. The volumes The change to which the liquid / gas mixture is subjected is within the limit towards zero, namely when the gas content approaches zero and an ideal in compressible liquid is present.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a diaphragm pump, used in particular a piston diaphragm pump according to DE 197 42 632.8-15, in order for the mixture of gas and liquid to change in volume and pressure subject. In addition to other advantages, with a piston diaphragm pump Volume and pressure changes are brought about and recorded very precisely.
In particular, the pump chamber pressure and the stroke can be used as operating parameters volume of the pump can be determined. The two parameters can be indirect be true. In particular, this can correspond to the pump chamber pressure The hydraulic pressure of the piston diaphragm pump is measured and the stroke volume-determining path or a change in position of the mechanical conveying dermittel of the pump can be detected.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a fixed, locked The amount of the liquid / gas mixture of the change in volume and pressure subject. This is preferably done in a pump chamber of the pump, in particular effecting a balancing chamber of a metering and balancing pump.
The change in pressure of the liquid / gas mixture can in various ways take place. The mixture is preferably brought to a predetermined pressure value compressed or decompressed, d. H. to a predetermined over or under brought pressure. In particular, in a first step, an outlet pressure of the Mixtures detected in a second step by closing the inlet and outlet flows closed volume volume of the mixture ge the pump chamber create and in a third step the completed volume subject to final pressure different from the outlet pressure. Here, the Final pressure and the resulting change in volume of the closed Ge mixed quantity recorded. The law is the basis for determining the gas content von Boyle-Mariotte, according to which the pressure of a gas changes at constant temperature temperature increases if it is compressed to a smaller volume. Because liquids are practically incompressible, the volume following compression must change of a liquid / gas mixture on the compression of it contained gas are based.
With regard to the device, the above-mentioned task is based on a Device of the type mentioned, solved in accordance with the invention in that a pump for conveying the mixture of gas and liquid, a Erfas solution device for recording operating parameters of the pump and one with evaluation unit connected to the detection device for evaluating the loading drive parameters and determination of the gas content in the liquid from the loading drive parameters are provided.
The evaluation unit sets the one that represents the change in volume and pressure Operating parameters in relation to each other and calculated based on the Ge Boyle-Mariotte sets the amount of gas contained in the liquid / gas mixture.
In a corresponding development of the invention, a metering and bi lanzierpumpe provided. In particular, the device has a piston diaphragm branch pump for conveying, balancing and dosing the medical liquid speed. The pump preferably has a piston / cylinder unit, one of a Diaphragm-limited pump chamber and one between the piston / cylinder unit and the pump chamber switched hydraulic circuit. The pumping chamber can be from the membrane can be divided into two chambers, a first chamber with the Hydraulic circuit is in fluid communication, while the second chamber from the Hy Draulikkreis is separated and featured to promote the medical fluid see is.
To ensure the sterility required in the medical field of application most and the device from touch and attack by the medium to be conveyed To protect is the pump chamber through which the medical medium is promoted as a removable from the rest of the pump painting articles, a so-called disposable. This disposable pump chamber can be placed as a head on the membrane chamber, so that the Be movement towards the volume-changeable, in particular elastically compressible formed disposable pump chamber is transferred. The one-time trained Pump chamber can also have a membrane with which it is applied to the membrane Brankammer is placed so that the disposable pumping chamber directly on the Diaphragm of the pump chamber connected to the hydraulic circuit is present.
The detection device can be used as a means for determining the pump chamber pressure and to determine the stroke volume a pressure sensor and a Kol ben length sensor. The pressure sensor can be connected to the hydraulic circuit Pump are operatively connected, the pressure of which is in the liquid / gas mixture corresponds to the pumping chamber. Using the piston length sensor, the piston ben traversed distance measured or the respective position of the piston detected. The piston surface is known, so that from the travel of the piston Stroke volume can be determined.
To a completed amount of the mixture of volume and pressure change To be able to subject, are upstream and downstream of the pump chamber ent speaking means for closing the suction and discharge side, in particular shut-off valves connected in the inflow channel and the discharge channel seen. The valves are preferably the pump designed as a disposable item assigned to the chamber and intended for single use together with it.
For the detection of the gas during the pumping process a Intermediate measurement phase in which the gas portion of the liquid to be pumped is determined. By means of a control device in a first step pump chamber valves opened and the pump stopped, the outlet pressure of the Mixtures determined in the pumping chamber, in a second step the Pump chamber valves are closed and in a third step the pump is turned on closed pump chamber valves actuated and the incoming volume and pressure change of the mixture in the pumping chamber is detected.
By means of an error unit, the correspondingly determined one can be carried out in each measuring phase Gas content compared with a limit value and, if necessary, an error message be generated. The error unit is preferably designed such that the Error messages of several measurement phases are summed up and when one is reached an error display is output given the specified number of error messages, through which the operator or the patient lies outside the norm Gas content is pointed out.
Furthermore, a correction unit can be provided which determines the particular one Gas portion of the mixture added up and with the entire delivery volume Determination of the pure amount of liquid offset. With the correction unit the pure liquid flow is determined free of gas.
The evaluation unit, the control device, the error unit and the correction unit by a central processor or appropriate software be led.
Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the device similar to the preceding figures, the device being shown in a third state, in which closed dialysis fluid has been compressed in the pump chamber when the valves are closed.
Fig. 1).The device has as a central component a piston diaphragm pump 1 , which has a piston / cylinder unit 2 , a pumping chamber 3 and a hydraulic circuit 4 connecting these (cf. FIG. 1).
Fig. 1).The piston / cylinder unit 2 is driven by a pump drive 5 , which acts on the piston 6 of the piston cylinder unit 2 and moves it in the cylinder 7 . The distance traveled by the piston 6 in the cylinder 7 is detected or measured by a length sensor 8 assigned to the piston / cylinder unit 2 (cf. FIG. 1).
The pressure side of the piston / cylinder unit 2 is in direct fluid communication with the hydraulic circuit 4 , which acts as a transmission means for the actuating movement of the piston 6 on the pump chamber 3 . The pump chamber 3 comprises a first machine-side chamber 9 , which is in fluid communication with the hydraulic circuit 4 and is connected by this to the pressure side of the piston / cylinder unit 2 . The first chamber 9 is delimited by a membrane 10 which, when the hydraulic volume in the first chamber 9 changes accordingly, bulges elastically convex outwards or is concavely drawn in to the interior of the first chamber 9 .
The pump chamber 3 further comprises a second chamber 11 , which serves as the actual, variable volume pump chamber for the medical fluid to be conveyed. The second chamber 11 is designed as a disposable article, a so-called disposable chamber, which is thrown away after it has been used once, ie delivery and metering of the dialysis agent. The disposable chamber 11 is designed as a head piece, which can be placed on the first chamber 9 by means of appropriate fastening means. The disposable chamber 11 has an elastic wall, in particular a membrane with which it is placed on the membrane 10 of the first chamber 9 , so that the two membranes come to lie directly on top of one another. On the second chamber 11 designed as a disposable, in the upstream and downstream delivery lines connected to the chamber, check valves 12 are provided (see FIG. 1), with the aid of which the fluid to be delivered is first sucked into the second chamber 11 and then through ent speaking switching of the shut-off valves 12 can be removed under pressure.
The change in volume of the second chamber 11 required for fluid delivery is brought about by corresponding actuation of the piston / cylinder unit 2 . By actuating the piston 6 , the hydraulic fluid of the hydraulic circuit 4 is pressed into the first chamber 9 or sucked out of it. As a result, the membrane 10 is actuated, the movement of which is transmitted to the second chamber 11 and changes its volume. The piston diaphragm pump shown has the great advantage that the corresponding liquid can be conveyed very precisely and the total amount conveyed can be precisely balanced. The Hubvo lumen of the piston / cylinder unit 2 can be precisely measured by the length sensor 8 .
To control the device, a central control device 13 (cf. FIG. 3) is provided, which has been omitted in FIGS. 1 and 2 for the sake of simplicity. The control device 13 is connected to the length sensor 8 and a pressure sensor 14 , which is assigned to the hydraulic circuit 4 and receives its pressure. The pressure prevailing in the hydraulic circuit 4 corresponds to the fluid pressure in the pumping chamber 3 , in particular the pressure prevailing in the second chamber 11 of the dialysis fluid. The central control device 13 is also connected to the pump drive 5 and the shut-off valves 12 in order to control them.
The function and mode of operation of the device are explained in more detail below.
Zustand 3 in Fig. 3). To detect the gas, a measuring phase is interposed with each stroke during the pumping process. First, at atmospheric pressure p at, for example, dialysis fluid is drawn from a dialysate bag into the second chamber 11 , in which an air volume V at is contained. In a state 1 of the device, which is shown in FIG. 1 and in which the downstream shut-off valve 12 is open, the outlet pressure p a , which is indicated, for example, by the liquid column of the dialysate bag, is measured. The shutoff valves 12 are then both closed, thereby creating a volume of liquid enclosed in the second chamber 11 . When the shut-off valves 12 are closed, the piston / cylinder unit 2 is actuated in order to apply a final pressure p e to the closed liquid volume in the second chamber 11 . This process takes approximately 0.5 seconds. Due to the pressure increase, the liquid enclosed in the chamber 11 is compressed according to its gas content from the initial volume V a to the final volume V e (cf. state 3 in FIG. 3). In this compressed state, the pressure in the hydraulic circuit 4 corresponding to the final pressure p e is again detected by the pressure sensor 14 . The displacement of the piston 6 during compression is also detected by the length sensor 8 . If the piston surface is known, the volume difference V diff that occurs during compression can be determined. When determining the dialysis fluid pressure, the tension of the membrane 10 can be neglected, since the membrane is preferably in a relaxed position at the time of the measurement.
From the values obtained by these method steps, the central control device 13 calculates the amount of gas present in the dialysis liquid, ie the actual gas volume V at at atmospheric pressure.
rung, lautet:
For this purpose, the control unit is based on the Boyle-Mariotte law, which for an isothermal change of state, ie when temperature change is neglected, is:
p.V = konstant.p.V = constant.
Based on this, the different states of the measurement phase can be set equal:
Vat.pat = Va.pa = Ve.pe. V at .p at = V a .p a = V e .p e .
Taking into account the relationship that the differential volume V diff is determined by the difference between the initial volume and the final volume, that is to say V diff = (V a -V e ), the actual gas volume at atmospheric pressure V at can be obtained from this, namely
S0 folgende Beziehung ergibt:
The volume difference can be determined by the distance traveled by the piston S diff and its area A k during the compression of the dialysis fluid, whereby the following relationship is obtained taking into account a basic compressibility of the system S 0 :
All quantities are known in this equation, so that the actual gas volume can be calculated at atmospheric pressure.
The evaluation of the measurement phase is therefore simplified by assuming an isothermal change in state. The control device 13 is designed such that it is based on the Boyle-Mariotte law. The calculation is based on the fact that a volume containing both liquid and gas can only be reduced approximately by compressing the gas, the gases in the liquid being compressed. The liquid itself is assumed to be rigid, ie incompressible. If the volume change is qualitatively recorded until a certain pressure value is reached in the liquid, it is a measure of the proportion of the free amount of gas in the liquid.
The central control device 13 also implements the function of a fault unit. The gas volume detected is compared with a limit value. If the actual gas volume is above a limit value, an error message is generated. The error messages are summed up and after a certain number of error messages that have occurred, the operator of the device or the patient receives a corresponding error message. For example, he is asked to check the connections of the dialysate bag. The treatment can either be canceled or continued. If a quantity of gas is detected that is outside a limit value range, the entire disposable chamber volume is discarded into a drain. This avoids endangering the patient. Since there is always a certain amount of air in the connections of the dialysate bags, the number of permissible error messages when switching to a new bag is increased.
The control device 13 also implements the function of a correction unit. The amount of gas detected is summed. If the total exceeds a limit value, the patient is asked to check the tubes or connections of the dialysate bag. The summed gas volume is offset against the delivery volume of the piston diaphragm pump 1 in order to determine the pure amount of liquid free of gas that has been delivered.
The method described and the method proposed for its implementation Device is characterized by its simplicity and accuracy. An additional Liche sensors can be saved, so that in addition to space and weight additional savings in terms of purchasing, production and Service result. It is possible to reduce the gas to a lower limit of 1% to determine part in a liquid.
Instead of the described compression of the enclosed liquid vo A corresponding decompression can also be performed with negative pressure.
