Abstract

A barcode preset by a central computer is used for safer identification of postage payable on items franked and ready for posting. This can be produced by any everyday PC printer onto any item to be posted without additional equipment. An 'F' symbol in a circle allows the barcode to be recognized as an identifier for the electronic franking in order for it to pass through a barcode reader. Vor Ort werden Gewicht und Raummaße mechanisch/optolektronisch ermittelt und von einem lokalen Rechner mit der Entgeltinformation des Barcodes und den Beförde rungsbedingungen verglichen (erste notwendige Bedingung für den Befehl zum Weiter transport). Die Daten aus dem Barcode werden an den zentralen Rechner weitergeleitet, der für die Abrechnung der Kundendaten zuständig ist.
