So ist beispielsweise die Höhe der Seitenwange derart niedrig zu wählen, dass ein Ein- und Ausstiegskomfort nicht darunter leidet. Andererseits bietet die Seitenwange dem Fahrzeuginsassen bei starken Querbeschleunigungen des Fahrzeuges nur ausreichenden Halt, wenn sie entsprechend hoch ist. Weiterhin kann mit steigendem Gewicht des Fahrzeuginsassen der Verdrehwinkel erhöht werden. Zur Einnahme der zweiten Position wird demnach das Lehnenteil 12 über den Aktuator 22 so mit einer Kraft beaufschlagt, dass eine Drehung um einen Drehpunkt 24 erfolgt. Die Seitenwange 18 wird dadurch nach vorne und die Seitenwange 16 nach hinten verlagert. Aufgrund des nun günstigen Winkels der Ebene des Lehnenteils 12 beziehungsweise der Seitenwange 18 zur Querbeschleunigung, ist eine bessere Abstützung des Fahrzeuginsassen möglich.
