Abstract

A stable mouthwash or dentifrice composition of chlorine dioxide and an inorganic phosphate stabilizer, a composition for preventing and treating dental disease by reducing the number of microorganisms in the oral cavity, the composition comprising an oral care preparation such as mouthwash and a dentifrice preparation (toothpaste, dental foam), wherein the oral care preparation comprises a stable chlorine dioxide concentration in the range of about 0.005% to about 0.3% and a monofluorophosphate compound in the range of about 0.02% to about 3.0% to prevent chlorine dioxide from escaping from the composition at a pH in the range of about 6.0% to about 5%, thereby increasing the shelf life and efficacy of the composition.

Description

Stable chlorine dioxide and inorganic stabilizer phosphate mouthwash or dentifrice compositions
Technical Field
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis and caries, and in particular to a mouthwash or dentifrice composition of stabilized chlorine dioxide and an inorganic stabilizer phosphate.
Background
In the current dental literature, volatile sulfur compounds, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and dimethyl mercaptan are considered to be the main causes of oral malodor, and many studies have shown that these volatile sulfur compounds are present in the oral air, and in most people, hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan account for more than 90% of the total volatile sulfur content in the oral air; in addition, sulfur compounds increase the ability of bacteria and their toxic byproducts to penetrate the epidermal barrier of the oral mucosa and penetrate into the underlying connective tissue;
current research indicates that oral malodour comes not only from the surface of the tongue, but also from the periodontal pocket, and that people with periodontal inflammation are accompanied by an increase in oral malodor caused by exfoliated epithelial cells; because of the action of bacteria and microorganisms, plaque can form on teeth, producing caries causing periodontal inflammation, for many years mouthwash and toothpaste have been supplemented with additives that have beneficial effects on dental disease, e.g. fluoride in toothpaste can reduce caries, but no method has been found to prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease, and technical compositions have been used that are generally ineffective against periodontitis, gingivitis, plaque build-up and oral malodor;
there is therefore a need for stable chlorine dioxide oral care formulations, such as mouthwashes and dentifrices, such as toothpastes, and having an acceptable shelf life, effective in inhibiting the initial film prior to plaque formation, and inhibiting or controlling the formation of bacteria into plaque and other conditions, such as "streptococcus mutans", which are believed to be a major cause of dental caries in humans; (2) chromobacterium nigricans implicit in human periodontitis; (3) reducing oral malodour by controlling hydrogen and methyl mercaptan.
Disclosure of Invention
The main object of the present invention is to provide a method and composition for preventing and treating gingivitis and periodontitis as well as dental caries, overcoming the drawbacks of the prior art;
in order to solve the technical problems, the invention provides the following technical scheme: compositions comprising stabilized chlorine dioxide and phosphate are disclosed as useful for the prevention and treatment of dental diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis and caries;
stabilized chlorine dioxide as a deodorant antiplaque agent, as a bactericide for the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis and as an oral treatment agent effective as a bactericide and fungicide, the addition of the activation inhibitor phosphate to stabilized chlorine dioxide prevents the rapid evolution of chlorine dioxide gas at typical oral pH values in the range of 6.5 to 7.0, the preferred concentration of stabilized chlorine dioxide being in the range of about 0.005% to 0.3%;
preferably, the concentration of the stabilized chlorine dioxide is about 0.2%;
preferably, the monofluorophosphate salt is sodium monofluorophosphate;
preferably, the sodium monofluorophosphate concentration is about 1.0%;
has the advantages that: the present invention relates to the use of phosphate salts in combination with stabilized chlorine dioxide to provide a mouthwash or non-foaming detergent toothpaste with increased stability and shelf life at pH, which maintains the effectiveness of stabilized chlorine dioxide reduction and reduced motility, killing bacterial pathogens.

Detailed Description
The technical solutions of the present invention will be described clearly and completely with reference to the accompanying drawings, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are some, not all embodiments of the present invention; all other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
In the description of the present invention, it should be noted that, unless otherwise explicitly specified or limited, the terms "mounted," "connected," and "connected" are to be construed broadly, e.g., as meaning either a fixed connection, a removable connection, or an integral connection; can be mechanically or electrically connected; they may be connected directly or indirectly through intervening media, or they may be interconnected between two elements. The specific meanings of the above terms in the present invention can be understood in specific cases to those skilled in the art.
As shown in fig. 1-2, the present device inventors have learned through experimentation and observation that chlorine dioxide with an activation inhibitor phosphate in a mouthwash or toothpaste can be a prophylactic product that results in oral health, and that the use and efficacy of the composition is described as follows:
stabilized chlorine dioxide as a deodorant antiplaque agent, as a bactericide for the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis and as an oral treatment agent effective as a bactericide and fungicide, the addition of the activation inhibitor phosphate to stabilized chlorine dioxide prevents the rapid evolution of chlorine dioxide gas at typical oral pH values in the range of 6.5 to 7.0, the preferred concentration of stabilized chlorine dioxide being in the range of about 0.005% to 0.3%; the concentration of said stabilized chlorine dioxide is about 0.2%; the monofluorophosphate is sodium monofluorophosphate; the sodium monofluorophosphate concentration was about 1.0%.
