It should be understood that the term "and/or" as used herein is merely one type of association that describes an associated object, meaning that three relationships may exist, e.g., a and/or B may mean: a exists alone, A and B exist simultaneously, and B exists alone. In addition, the character "/" herein generally indicates that the former and latter related objects are in an "or" relationship.
It should be understood that although the terms first, second, etc. may be used to describe crack detection lines in embodiments of the invention, these crack detection lines should not be limited to these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish different crack detection lines from each other. For example, the first crack detection line may also be referred to as the second crack detection line, and similarly the second crack detection line may also be referred to as the first crack detection line, without departing from the scope of embodiments of the invention.
An embodiment of the present invention provides a display panel, as shown in fig. 1, fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a display panel provided in an embodiment of the present invention, where the display panel includes a display area AA and a non-display area NA; the display area AA includes N sub-pixel rows 1. Each sub-pixel row 1 comprises a plurality of sub-pixels 10 arranged along a first direction x. The N sub-pixel rows are arranged along the second direction y. Each sub-pixel 10 may include a light emitting unit and a pixel circuit for driving the light emitting unit to emit light. Illustratively, when the display panel is an organic light emitting display panel, the light emitting unit is an organic light emitting device including an anode, a light emitting structure, and a cathode, which are stacked. The pixel circuit may include a storage capacitor, and a plurality of thin film transistors. As shown in fig. 2, fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a pixel circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the pixel circuit includes 2 thin film transistors T1 to T2 and a storage capacitor Cst.
Illustratively, as shown in fig. 1, the display area AA of the display panel further includes a plurality of signal lines 2. Alternatively, the signal lines 2 may extend in the first direction x, and a plurality of the signal lines 2 may be arranged in the second direction y. One signal line 2 is connected to one sub-pixel row 1. Specifically, for example, in conjunction with the pixel circuit shown in fig. 2, the pixel circuit includes a control signal terminal S, a data signal terminal Vdata, and a first power voltage signal terminal PVDD. One signal line 2 may be connected to the control signal terminal S of the pixel circuits belonging to the same sub-pixel row 1.
With continued reference to fig. 1, the non-display area NA of the display panel includes the driving circuit 3 and the first crack detection line 41. The drive circuit 3 includes N cascaded shift register units 30. The shift register unit 30 is used for driving the corresponding sub-pixel row 1. For example, when the thin film transistor IN the pixel circuit shown IN fig. 2 is an N-type transistor, as shown IN fig. 3, fig. 3 is a schematic diagram of output signals of shift register units of each stage when the driving circuit provided by the embodiment of the present invention is IN normal operation, where IN represents a frame start signal received at an input terminal of the shift register unit of the 1 st stage, and 30jRepresents the jth shiftThe output signal of the register unit. When the display panel performs display, each sub-pixel row in fig. 1 may start scanning line by line from row 1 to row N in a top-down direction. That is, taking the orientation shown in fig. 1 as an example, the scanning direction of the display panel is from top to bottom, but the scanning direction of the display panel may also be from bottom to top, which is not limited in the embodiments of the present invention.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the first crack detection line 41 is electrically connected to the drive circuit 3. Specifically, when the first crack detection line 41 is provided, the embodiments of the present invention provide a plurality of different modes, which are described below:
as shown in fig. 1, an embodiment of the invention may have a first end of the first crack detection line 41 connected to the detection signal terminal 5. The detection signal terminal 5 is used for providing a detection signal, and the first crack detection line 41 receives the detection signal through the detection signal terminal 5. And the second end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to the input end of the i-th stage shift register unit 30 in the scanning direction of the display panel. Wherein i is more than or equal to 1 and less than N. In the display panel shown in fig. 1, i is 3, that is, the second end of the first crack detection line 41 and the input end of the 3 rd stage shift register unit 30 in the scanning direction of the display panel are taken as an illustration. The detection signals may be set to cause the ith through m1 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel to emit light when the first crack detection line 41 is not broken. And, at the time of fracture of the first crack detection line 41, making the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel emit no light; wherein i is not more than m1 and is more than N.
In detecting whether the display panel has cracks, the embodiment of the invention may provide the above-described detection signal to the first crack detection line 41. And whether a crack exists in the display panel is judged by observing the lighting condition of the sub-pixel row 1 in the display panel. Specifically, if light emission occurs in the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel, it is determined that the first crack detection line 41 is intact and a signal can be normally transmitted, i.e., the display panel is not cracked. If it occurs that the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel do not emit light, it is determined that the first crack detection line 41 cannot normally transmit a signal, i.e., the display panel has a crack.
Or, when the first crack detection line is set, the embodiment of the present invention may further enable the first end of the first crack detection line to be connected to the output end of the j-th stage shift register unit along the scanning direction of the display panel, and receive the output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit through the first crack detection line, where j is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to N. Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 4, fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided by the embodiment of the present invention, wherein j is 5, that is, a first end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to an output end of the shift register unit 30 of the 5 th stage in the scanning direction of the display panel. In this case, when detecting whether a crack exists on the display panel, it is not necessary to provide a detection signal to the first crack detection line 41, and it is only necessary to compare the output signal of the first crack detection line 41 with the output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit in the driving circuit 3 shown in fig. 3 under normal operation condition to determine whether the first crack detection line 41 is intact. If the output signal of the first crack detection line 41 is the same as the output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit under the normal working condition, the first crack detection line 41 is judged to be intact and can normally transmit a signal, that is, no crack occurs in the display panel. If the output signal of the first crack detection line 41 is different from the output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit under the normal operation condition, it is determined that the first crack detection line 41 cannot normally transmit a signal, i.e., the display panel has a crack.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 5, fig. 5 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and in the embodiment of the present invention, two first crack detection lines 41 may be further disposed in the display panel, one of the two first crack detection lines is connected to the driving circuit 3 in the manner shown in fig. 1, and the other is connected to the driving circuit 3 in the manner shown in fig. 4. When crack detection is performed, judgment can be performed through the two first crack detection lines 41 at the same time, or judgment can be performed through one of the two first crack detection lines 41, and the specific judgment manner is the same as that shown in fig. 1 and 4, and is not described herein again.
As can be seen from the above description of the crack detection process, in the display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, by providing the first crack detection line 41 in the non-display area NA of the display panel, when crack detection is performed, whether a crack exists in the display panel can be determined through lighting of the sub-pixel rows in the display area AA and/or through an output signal of the first crack detection line 41, so that the display panel including the crack can be prevented from flowing into a subsequent process.
In addition, in the manufacturing process of the display panel, the display panel needs to be tested before and after the driver chip (IC) is bound, and because the lighting modes of the display panel before and after the IC is bound are different, whether cracks exist in the display panel needs to be judged through different crack detection modes in the two testing processes at present. In the embodiment of the invention, the first crack detection line 41 is arranged, so that the crack detection process and the test on the display panel before and after the IC is bound can be synchronously carried out, and the operation is simple. In addition, when the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention performs crack detection, an additional crack detection circuit does not need to be arranged in the two testing processes of the display panel, the detection of cracks in the display panel can be realized only by arranging the first crack detection line 41, and the structure is simple.
Illustratively, as shown in fig. 1, 4 and 5, in the display panel provided by the embodiment of the invention, the non-display area NA further includes a frame start signal line 40, and the frame start signal line 40 is connected to the shift register unit of the 1 st stage in the scanning direction of the display panel. The frame start signal line is connected to a frame start signal terminal 7, the frame start signal terminal 7 being adapted to provide a frame start signal IN as shown IN fig. 3. Before crack detection is performed, a frame start signal may be supplied to the frame start signal line 40, and then it may be determined whether the 1 st to nth sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel emit light. When the 1 st to nth sub-pixel rows emit light under the action of the frame start signal, it is described that various devices including the driving circuit, the sub-pixels 10 and the signal lines 2 in the display panel are normal. At this time, the supply of the frame start signal to the frame start signal line 40 is stopped, and then the detection signal is supplied to the first crack detection line 41. If the sub-pixels of the corresponding row do not emit light, the possibility of defects occurring in the devices other than the first crack detection line 41 can be eliminated, and the accuracy of crack detection in the display panel can be ensured.
Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 1 and 4, the frame start signal line 40 is located on a side of the first crack detection line 41 away from the edge of the display panel, and the embodiment of the invention is configured to enable cracks of the display panel to be more easily reflected on the first crack detection line 41, so that the structural integrity of the first crack detection line 41 more accurately reflects the structural condition of the display panel.
Illustratively, the material of the first crack detection line 41 includes molybdenum, and the material of the frame start signal line 40 includes titanium-aluminum-titanium alloy. Compared with a titanium-aluminum-titanium alloy material, the molybdenum material has higher brittleness, so that the first crack detection line 41 can be broken along with the breakage of the substrate or other films positioned in the non-display area NA when the non-display area NA of the display panel is cracked, that is, the breakage of the films in the non-display area NA can be more easily reflected in the first crack detection line 41, and the structural integrity of the first crack detection line 41 can more accurately reflect the structural condition of the display panel.
In an embodiment of the invention, the frame start signal line 40 and the first crack detection line 41 are located in different layers, which are insulated from each other.
Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 1, 4 and 5, the first crack detection line 41 extends along the extending direction of the edge of the display panel. As compared with the case where the extending direction of the first crack detection line 41 is set to be perpendicular to the direction of the edge of the display panel, or the extending direction of the first crack detection line 41 is set to intersect the extending direction of the edge of the display panel, the embodiment of the invention is so arranged that cracks at a plurality of positions in the extending direction of the edge of the display panel can be detected by one first crack detection line 41. On the basis, the width of the non-display area NA accommodating the first crack detection line 41 can be set as narrow as possible by the embodiment of the invention, which is beneficial to the narrow frame design of the display panel and improves the screen occupation ratio of the display panel.
It should be noted that the extension of the first crack detection line 41 along the extending direction of the left edge of the display panel in fig. 1, 4 and 5 is only illustrated schematically, and in fact, the first crack detection line 41 may be provided in a multi-segment broken line shape including a plurality of different extending directions, where the extending direction of each segment of broken line from the edge of the display panel closest to the segment of broken line is the same. Exemplarily, as shown in fig. 6, fig. 6 is a schematic view of a further display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, and unlike the structure shown in fig. 1, in the display panel shown in fig. 6, the first crack detecting line 41 includes at least three segments parallel to a left edge, an upper edge and a right edge of the display panel. Compared to the configuration shown in fig. 1, the first crack detection line 41 can detect the presence or absence of cracks at a plurality of positions on the left edge, the upper edge, and the right edge of the display panel by the arrangement shown in fig. 6.
It should be noted that the pixel circuit shown in fig. 2 is only an illustration, and in order to compensate the threshold voltage of the thin film transistor in the pixel circuit and improve the brightness uniformity at different positions in the display panel, the embodiment of the invention may further provide a greater number of thin film transistors in the pixel circuit. As shown in fig. 7, fig. 7 is a schematic diagram of another pixel circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention, where the pixel circuit includes 7 thin film transistors M1-M7, and scan control signal terminals S1 and S2 and an emission control signal terminal Emit.
Accordingly, as shown in fig. 8, fig. 8 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, wherein the schematic diagram of the sub-pixel rows is omitted for simplicity of illustration. The signal line 2 includes a scanning control signal line 21 and a light emission control signal line 22 arranged in the second direction y. The drive circuit 3 includes a gate control circuit 31 and a light emission control circuit 32. The gate control circuit 31 and the light emission control circuit 32 each include a plurality of cascaded shift register units 30. The gate control circuit 31 is configured to output a scanning control signal required by the scanning control signal terminal step by step, and the light-emitting control circuit 32 is configured to output a light-emitting control signal required by the light-emitting control signal terminal Emit step by step.
When the first end of the first crack detection line 41 receives the detection signal through the detection signal terminal 5, and the second end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to the input terminal of the i-th stage shift register unit 30 in the driving circuit 3 along the scanning direction of the display panel, the driving circuit 3 may be at least one of the gate control circuit 31 and the light emission control circuit 32 described above.
Specifically, as shown in fig. 8, the second terminal of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to the input terminal of the i-th stage shift register unit in the gate control circuit 31 in the scanning direction of the display panel.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 9, fig. 9 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and the embodiment of the present invention may also connect the second end of the first crack detection line 41 to the input end of the i-th stage shift register unit in the light emission control circuit 32 along the scanning direction of the display panel.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 10, fig. 10 is a schematic diagram of another display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention, in which at least two first crack detection lines 41 may be provided, a second end of one of the first crack detection lines 41 is connected to an input end of an i-th stage shift register unit in the gate control circuit 31 along the scanning direction of the display panel, and a second end of the other first crack detection line 41 is connected to an input end of a j-th stage shift register unit in the light-emitting control circuit 32 along the scanning direction of the display panel.
Illustratively, when a first end of the first crack detection line 41 is made to receive the detection signal and a second end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to an input terminal of the i-th stage shift register unit in the scanning direction of the display panel, as shown in fig. 1, the embodiment of the invention arranges the first crack detection line 41 on the side of the driving circuit 3 near the edge of the display panel. With this arrangement, the first crack detection line 41 can be brought closer to the edge position of the display panel where cracks are likely to occur, and the fracture of the display panel can be first reflected on the first crack detection line 41, so that the first crack detection line 41 can better reflect the crack condition of the edge of the display panel.
For example, when the first end of the first crack detection line receives the detection signal and the second end of the first crack detection line is connected to the input terminal of the i-th stage shift register unit, as shown in fig. 11, fig. 11 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided in the embodiment of the present invention, in which the embodiment of the present invention may further include a control switch 8 connected between the detection signal terminal 5 and the first crack detection line 41 in the non-display area NA, and the control switch 8 is used for controlling the first crack detection line 41 to receive the detection signal. According to the embodiment of the invention, the detection signal provided by the detection signal terminal 5 does not need to be adjusted, and the display panel can be switched between the normal display state and the crack detection state only by switching the control switch 8 between the on state and the off state, so that the operation is convenient and fast.
Alternatively, the control switch 8 may be a thin film transistor. As shown in fig. 11, in the non-display area NA, a control signal line 81 electrically connected to a control terminal of the thin film transistor may be disposed, and the control signal line 81 is electrically connected to the control terminal 80. When the display panel needs to be crack-detected by the control signal transmitted through the control signal line 81, the thin film transistor as the control switch 8 is controlled to be turned on. When crack detection is not required, the thin film crystal as the control switch 8 is controlled to be turned off.
On the basis that the first end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to the detection signal terminal 5, and the second end is connected to the input terminal of the i-th stage shift register unit 30 along the scanning direction of the display panel, as shown in fig. 12, fig. 12 is a schematic diagram of another display panel provided by the embodiment of the present invention, and a second crack detection line 42 may also be disposed in the non-display area NA in the embodiment of the present invention, the first end of the second crack detection line 42 is also connected to the detection signal terminal 5, and the second crack detection line 42 receives the detection signal through the detection signal terminal 5. A second end of the second crack detection line 42 is also electrically connected to the drive circuit 3. Specifically, the second end of the second crack detection line 42 is connected to the input terminal of the m1+1 th stage shift register unit in the scanning direction of the display panel. The detection signals are also used to cause the m1+1 th to m2 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel to emit light when the second crack detection line 42 is not broken, and to cause the m1+1 th to m2 th sub-pixel rows in the scanning direction of the display panel to not emit light when the second crack detection line 42 is broken; wherein m1+1 is more than or equal to m2 and less than N. Fig. 12 shows m1 ═ 9. As shown in fig. 12, the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42 are arranged along the extending direction of the sub-pixel row 1. That is, the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42 are arranged along the first direction x.
In the display panel having the structure shown in fig. 12, when crack detection is performed, a detection signal is supplied to the second crack detection line 42 through the detection signal terminal 5 in addition to the first crack detection line 41. In the scanning direction of the display panel, when the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows do not emit light and the m1+1 th to m2 th sub-pixel rows emit light, it is determined that a crack occurs at the position of the first crack detection line 41 and a crack does not occur at the position of the second crack detection line 42 of the display panel. When the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows do not emit light and the m1+1 th to m2 th sub-pixel rows do not emit light, it is determined that cracks occur at the positions of the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42 of the display panel. In the embodiment of the present invention, the presence or absence of cracks in at least two different positions, i.e., the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42, which are arranged in the first direction x in the non-display area AA of the display panel can be detected.
Alternatively, as shown in fig. 12, in the embodiment of the present invention, the first crack detecting line 41 is located on the side of the second crack detecting line 42 away from the display area AA, so that a crack possibly generated at the edge of the display panel first breaks the first crack detecting line 41.
When the first end of the first crack detection line is connected to the output end of the j-th stage shift register unit along the scanning direction of the display panel, as shown in fig. 4, in the embodiment of the present invention, a detection display module 6 may be further disposed in the non-display area NA, and the second end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to the detection display module 6. The detection display module 6 is used for displaying according to the signal transmitted by the first crack detection line 41. When crack detection is performed, whether the first crack detection line 41 is intact can be determined by comparing a signal displayed by the detection display module 6 with an output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit in the driving circuit 3 under a normal working condition. Illustratively, the detection display module 6 may be an oscilloscope.
An embodiment of the present invention further provides a crack detection method, which is applied to the display panel shown in fig. 1, wherein a first end of a first crack detection line 41 receives a detection signal, and a second end of the first crack detection line 41 is connected to an input end of an i-th stage shift register unit 30, as shown in fig. 13, fig. 13 is a schematic diagram of the crack detection method provided in the embodiment of the present invention, and the crack detection method includes:
step S1: the detection signal is supplied to the first crack detection line 41.
Step S2: and along the scanning direction of the display panel, judging that no crack occurs in the display panel when the ith sub-pixel row to the m1 sub-pixel row emit light, and judging that the crack occurs in the display panel when the ith sub-pixel row to the m1 sub-pixel row do not emit light.
For the display panel having the structure shown in fig. 4, an embodiment of the present invention provides a crack detection method shown in fig. 14, the crack detection method including:
step S1': whether the display panel has cracks is judged according to the transmission signal of the first crack detection line 41. Specifically, whether the first crack detection line 41 is intact can be determined by comparing the output signal of the first crack detection line 41 with the output signal of the j-th stage shift register unit in the driving circuit 3 under the normal working condition.
For the display panel having the structure shown in fig. 5, the embodiment of the present invention may also combine the detection methods shown in fig. 13 and fig. 14, and when detecting cracks, the determination may be performed by the two first crack detection lines at the same time, or may be performed by selecting one of the two first crack detection lines.
According to the crack detection method provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first crack detection line 41 is arranged in the non-display area NA of the display panel, so that when crack detection is carried out, whether cracks exist in the display panel can be judged through the lighting condition of the sub-pixel rows in the display area AA and/or through the output signal of the first crack detection line 41, and the display panel comprising the cracks can be prevented from flowing into a later process.
1 and 4, the non-display area NA provided by the embodiment of the present invention further includes the frame start signal line 40 as described above. As shown in fig. 15, fig. 15 is a schematic diagram of another crack detection method provided by the embodiment of the invention, before providing the detection signal to the first crack detection line 41, the crack detection method further includes:
step S01: the frame start signal is supplied to the frame start signal line 40.
Step S02: and judging whether the 1 st sub-pixel row to the Nth sub-pixel row along the scanning direction of the display panel emit light or not.
When the 1 st to nth sub-pixel rows emit light, the supply of the frame start signal to the frame start signal line 40 is stopped, and step S1 is performed: a detection signal is provided to the first crack detection line. When the 1 st to nth sub-pixel rows emit light under the action of the frame start signal, it is described that various devices including the driving circuit 3, the sub-pixel 10 and the signal line 2 in the display panel are normal.
For a display panel having the structure shown in fig. 12 and having both the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42, an embodiment of the present invention further provides a crack detection method, as shown in fig. 16, and fig. 16 is a schematic diagram of another crack detection method provided by an embodiment of the present invention, the crack detection method further includes:
step S3: the detection signal is provided to the second crack detection line 42.
Step S4: judging that a crack occurs at the position of a first crack detection line and a crack does not occur at the position of a second crack detection line of the display panel when the ith to mth 1 th sub-pixel lines do not emit light and the m1+1 th to mth 2 th sub-pixel lines emit light along the scanning direction of the display panel; when the ith to m1 th sub-pixel rows do not emit light and the m1+1 th to m2 th sub-pixel rows do not emit light, it is determined that a crack occurs at the position of the first crack detection line 41 and a crack occurs at the position of the second crack detection line 42 of the display panel. In the embodiment of the present invention, the presence or absence of cracks in at least two different positions, i.e., the first crack detection line 41 and the second crack detection line 42, which are arranged in the first direction x in the non-display area AA of the display panel can be detected.
It should be noted that, step S3 may occur simultaneously with step S1 or sequentially, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in fig. 17, fig. 17 is a schematic view of a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention, where the display device includes the display panel 100. The specific structure of the display panel 100 has been described in detail in the above embodiments, and is not described herein again. Of course, the display device shown in fig. 17 is only a schematic illustration, and the display device may be any electronic device with a display function, such as a mobile phone, a tablet computer, a notebook computer, an electronic book, or a television.
According to the display device provided by the embodiment of the invention, the first crack detection line 41 is arranged in the non-display area NA of the display panel, so that when crack detection is carried out, whether cracks exist in the display panel can be judged through the lighting condition of the sub-pixel rows in the display area AA and/or through the output signal of the first crack detection line 41, and the display panel comprising the cracks can be prevented from flowing into a later process.
The present invention is not limited to the above preferred embodiments, and any modifications, equivalent substitutions, improvements, etc. within the spirit and principle of the present invention should be included in the scope of the present invention.
