Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及例如作为数字电视服务的一部分向用户提供画中画服务的方法和设备。
背景技术
在向用户发送多个多播传输的互联网协议电视(IPTV)环境中,存在提供画中画服务的多个服务提供商。PIP服务是同时显示两个或更多视频流的服务。一般地,一个视频流小于另一个(或其他)视频流,并且较小的一个视频流覆盖较大的视频流。
在这些当前服务中,以模拟格式提供PIP,并且在传输的用户端的机顶盒(STB)或电视(TV)形成PIP。
在数字格式和使用例如互联网协议TV(IPTV)的服务的情况下,每一个画面均需要调谐器(turner),以及用于每一个的足够带宽。例如为了获得基于3个信道的PIP,在STB或TV将需要3个调谐器或解码器,以及>10Mb/s(3×3.75Mb/s)的带宽。考虑到设备和带宽的成本和负担,代价比较高。因此,这种功能对于用户几乎不可行。
本发明的一个目的在于提供一种克服现有技术中的至少相同问题的PIP方法和设备。
发明内容
本发明涉及如独立权利要求所限定的方法和系统。
更具体地,本发明公开一种通过互联网协议(IP)传输向一个或多个用户形成画中画(PIP)服务的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:
接收对于PIP信道(502)的请求,所述PIP信道(502)包括叠加有第二预定信道(102)的第一预定信道(100);
确定所述PIP信道是否已经存在(506);
如果所述PIP信道不存在(526),则形成所述PIP信道;
在专用信道上将所述PIP信道发送到请求所述PIP信道的任意用户(528)。
此外,在附加的从属权利要求中还提供了本发明的实施例。
以这样方式准备PIP信道的结果是在用户端的STB或TV仅需要一个调谐器。在创建PIP时,由于作为一个信道编码并作为信号信道发送,所以对于STB或TV不需要在用户位置具有额外的调谐器。除了PIPP客户端之外,本发明的所有其他资源可以在前端设备处找到,并且可用于多个用户,从而最小化对于作为整体的系统设备的负担。

具体实施方式
图1示出所产生的画中画服务,其例如是向多个用户提供多个多播传输的IPTV服务的一部分。该画中画服务示出主画面100和画中画(PIP)102。这示出PIP的特征,但是明显地,也可以有许多变形,更多PIP、不同大小、格式等。
图2是向用户位置202提供PIP的系统200的框图。用户位置包括:住宅网关204,其连接至例如个人计算机(PC)206、电话(互联网协议或一般电话)208和STB 210;和TV 212。该网关从网络214接收信息。信息可以是来自前端设备218的多播传输216的形式,或来自所谓的中间件设备222的其他类型传输220。多播传输216可以是向所有预定相同多播信道的多个用户进行TV传播的形式。这可以通过任意适合的前端设备(包括编码器、转码器等)执行。多播流式传输使用互联网组管理协议(IGMP)。
单播也可以是向每一个用户提供不同流的TV单播。对于单播使用视频点播(VCD)实时流协议(RTSP)。这种单播可通过具有任意类型的中间件设备生成。使用单播,用户也可通过入口获得时移TV或网络个人视频记录器(NPVR)服务。这允许时间用户在单播广播中具有暂停、快进和提醒功能。
中间件也可以在中间设置软交换224,其可从公共交换电话网(PSTN)225提供例如语音互联网协议(VOIP)的电话服务。
系统200还包括在前端的服务器226(即画中画协议(PIPP)服务器)和在用户端的PIPP客户端228。以下将详细描述这种服务器和客户端的详细操作。
PIPP服务器226可形成编码器的一部分或控制设备或软件的一部分。PIPP客户端228很可能适当地位于STB或TV接收器中。
图3概括新协议PIPP如何使得用户询问IGMP在特定信道上允许PIP协议请求的可用性,以及网络编码器如何建立适当PIP多播信道。
用户使用与PIPP客户端302连接的STB 300正在观看特定信道(以下称为信道A)的广播。客户端可位于PC 304上,或可以位于网关中,或作为STB或TV的一部分。用户希望观看作为信道A中的PIP的其他信道(以下称为“信道B”)。用户经由PIP客户端和网络308发出请求306。在PIPP服务器310接收该请求,并将该请求输入到PIPP服务器表312中。图4示出表细节,并在下文中对其更详细描述。服务器表向PIP编码器314请求所需信道的形成。编码器监控网络,以识别在网络上当前发送的现有信道。编码器然后可重新编码信道的所需组合,以建立必要的PIP信道。在向用户发送之前,可使用视频记录器和播放器316存储PIP信道。通过对于PIP信道的每一次改变、修改、变更等更新该表。
然后,向IGMP协议询问,以确定是否已经存在包含信道A的并具有信道B的PIP的PIP信道。如果这种PIP信道存在,则通过承载所需PIP信道的IGMP端口的细节更新PIP表,并且向用户通知相同的信息,从而他们可将STB或TV的调谐器调谐到该信道。如果IGMP询问确定不存在相关的PIP信道,则确定是否存在用以支持新PIP信道的创建的对于该用户或总体的可用带宽。如果存在用于新信道的创建的足够资源,则可通过PIP编码器创建新PIP信道,并更新PIP表。然后,经由PIPP服务器将更新的PIP表传递到PIPP客户端。然后,用户连接到新创建的PIP信道。
如果当前不存在可用于创建新PIP信道的足够带宽,则可以在IGMP服务器中输入请求,以通知什么时候存在可用的足够带宽。当接收到通知时,确定是否仍旧需要新信道,并且如果需要,则形成新信道,并更新PIP表。
使用PIP服务器表来保证通过用户端的PIP客户端传递可用PIP信道的细节。如果用于特定PIP信道的请求306表示特定PIP信道已经存在,则可直接返回STB或TV,而对于该请求不需到达PIPP服务器。
现在参照图4,示出PIP表信息的实例。表400列出主信道(信道A)402、子信道(信道B)404和可发送PIP信道的IGMP端口406的细节。

用户向PIPP客户端输入对于包括信道A和信道B的PIP服务的请求(500)。将请求发送到PIPP服务器,并且在那里接收502。经由PIP表和IGMP发出对于所需PIP服务器的请求。执行确定处理,以确定该服务是否已经存在(506)。
如果存在,即508,则用户通过连接到由IGMP服务器向PIPP服务器通知的正确信道的方式连接到该服务(510)。
如果该服务不存在(否,512),则确定是否存在可用带宽(514)。如果没有足够带宽(否,516),则询问用于该服务的请求,以等待可用带宽。继续对可以带宽的检查(在步骤514的确定处理),直到存在可用带宽(是,520),或直到取消用户请求(522)。此时处理停止,并且删除在关于所需PIP信道的PIPP客户端和服务器中的所有项目,如以下将详细所述(530、532、534、524)。
如果存在用于形成PIP信道的足够带宽(是,520),则以任意适合的方式,例如使用编码器、记录的材料等形成新PIP信道,以产生所需的信道。一旦形成信道,则在PIPP服务器和客户端更新PIP表。通过更新PIPP服务器,可通过PIPP服务器向请求PIP中信道的相同组合的其他用户通知相同信息,而不创建同样的其他信道(526)。然后,用户(或多个用户)可连接到PIPP信道528。
例如,一旦与给定PIP信道连接的所有用户通过调谐到不同信道的方式从该信道断开(530),则更新PIPP服务器和客户端以终止服务(532)。如果通知适当的IGMP服务器,则对于PIP表清空PIP信道的所有细节(534)。然后,该处理停止(524)。
尽管参照优选实施例已经具体示出和描述了本发明,但是可以理解,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的情况下可以在其中进行形式细节的各种修改。
Claims (10)
1.一种通过互联网协议(IP)传输向一个或多个用户形成画中画(PIP)服务的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:
接收对于PIP信道(502)的请求,所述PIP信道(502)包括叠加有第二预定信道(102)的第一预定信道(100);
通过询问IGMP协议确定所述PIP信道是否已经存在于PIPP服务器的表中(506);
如果所述PIP信道不存在(526),则在PIP编码器中形成所述PIP信道,其中在形成所述PIP信道时作为一个信道编码;
在专用信道上将所述PIP信道发送到请求所述PIP信道的任意用户(528)。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中接收请求的步骤包括:请求包括多于两个信道的PIP信道。
3.如权利要求1或权利要求2所述的方法,其中如果与所述请求匹配的PIP信道已经存在,则向用户通知发送所述PIP信道的专用信道(510)。

8.如权利要求7所述的方法,还包括:使用所述客户端表产生对于所述PIP信道的请求。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:如果没有用户仍然需要所述第一和第二信道的特定组合,则停止承载所述PIP信道的专用信道的传输(524)。
10.一种通过互联网协议(IP)传输向一个或多个用户形成画中画(PIP)服务的系统,该系统包括:
用于接收对于PIP信道的请求的装置,所述PIP信道包括叠加有第二预定信道(102)的第一预定信道(100);
用于通过询问IGMP协议确定所述PIP信道是否已经存在于PIPP服务器的表中的装置;
