Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to the field of inhalers, in particular to a dose indicator device of an inhaler.
Background
Pressurized metered dose inhalers typically comprise an aerosol container equipped with a metered dose counting device and an actuator housing, the inhaler typically comprising: the nozzle, valve stem of the metering valve, and user ports, such as the mouthpiece and optionally but generally used cylindrical housing, are used to house the aerosol container. The aerosol container contains a pressurized aerosol formulation, which typically includes a liquefied propellant and a drug, and if desired or needed, one or more excipients, such as a surfactant or solvent. The medicament may be in the form of a suspension or solution in an aerosol formulation and the metered dose device typically includes a valve stem which moves inwardly relative to the metering device to eject a metered dose of the aerosol formulation. The metering valve is inserted into the actuator housing with the valve stem engaged with the nozzle block of the actuator housing. In use, the patient places their lips around the mouthpiece and presses against the bottom of the aerosol container so that the container moves relative to the valve stem to eject a dose of medicament through the mouthpiece.
In the prior art, some dose indicators are designed to require electronics that increase cost, deter users from washing the device, may have battery life issues, and in the case of dose counters, their use may be difficult to obtain regulatory approval. Furthermore, many of these dose indicators are complex, requiring a large number of small mechanical parts, which results in high costs, assembly difficulties, and the need for complex dimensional tolerances. In some cases, it is desirable to redesign the dose indicator, which has been the standard shape and size of a metered dose aerosol inhaler, to a significantly larger, more bulky and more cumbersome shape. Furthermore, the character size and definition of the display of such devices may be poor, making it difficult for a user to read them. Still other indicators are designed on the top of the driver, the engagement of the internal teeth of the inner indicating unit with the indicating element being inclined with respect to the rotation axis of the indicating unit, and at the same time, the inner part contains more parts, the structure is more complex, and the assembly is also relatively troublesome. Still others have been designed with the indicator at the bottom, but the digital wheel requires a certain angle and has relatively many parts and is complex in the design process. Some are designed as separate counting assemblies, which are not integrated in the drive, resulting in a corresponding increase in production and matching costs.
