背景技术
光学标记(诸如条形码符号)可以被限定为数据的光学机器可读表示。在过去数十年间,各种光学代码符号体系已经产生并且被结合到无数个工业、商业和住宅应用中。例如,连同自动化超市结账系统而研发了首个商业上成功的条形码,通用产品代码(UPC)。这些系统包括读取和解码固设到产品的UPC条形码符号的激光-扫描仪条形码读取器以便得到每一个产品的价格。UPC符号被视为一维条形码,因为数据跨一系列平行条线性编码并且以变化的宽度间隔。操作可移动的激光射束以便跨正在读取的条形码符号的宽度而形成线。经由一个或多个光电二极管而将从条形码符号反射回来的光的强度捕获为具有一系列波峰和波谷的波形。在通过条形码读取器获得完整波形之后,处理器对符号进行解码以便提取包含在其中的数据。
在UPC符号的普遍扩散之后,研发了其它类型的线性条形码,其中目前许多仍然在使用中。由于其读取的方便性和简单性,线性条形码特别好地适于牵涉到自动化分拣和材料处置、库存管理、质量控制、运输和接收功能的应用,尤其是在高体积和/或速度下。然而,线性条形码仅持有有限数量的数据或信息。
为了克服一维条形码的数据限制,随后研发了二维(2D)条形码符号以及用以读取和解码它们的基于图像的读取器。二维条形码符号的示例包括矩阵码(QR、数据矩阵等)和堆叠式条形码(例如,PDF-417)。一维和二维条形码二者连同其它机器可读标记(诸如字母数字字符)一般被称为光学代码。
较新的基于图像的光学代码读取器使用基于互补型金属氧化物半导体(CMOS)的相机传感器,所述相机传感器具有拥有视场的像素的阵列。在使用中,通过相机以预设的速率从该视场获得图像或帧。读取器具有照明器(典型地,一个或多个LED)以及可以经调节以便获得足够清楚且明亮的图像的电子快门机构。利用各种算法处理图像以便识别和解码光学标记,包括读取器的视场内的1D和2D条形码。
利用光学代码读取器获取的图像一般被称为帧。所有视频和静止帧相机都具有以每秒帧(fps)为单元而给定的帧速率或者成像速度。许多条形码读取器在每秒六十(60)个帧的速度或者帧速率下进行操作。这样的读取器中的图像传感器每1/60秒或者粗略地每16.67毫秒获得完整的图像帧。在完整的帧已经曝光之后,每一个像素的电荷被移出至存储器单元并且全体地处理成单个图像。
条形码技术中的近期进展包括数字条形码的研发,即,以电子方式在智能手机、计算机和其它便携式电子设备的高分辨率显示屏幕上生成和呈现的一维和二维条形码符号。数字条形码已经在诸如电子优惠券、无纸飞机票之类的应用以及其它应用中获得接受,并且可以经由电子邮件、网站和电视广告而递送给消费者。虽然数字条形码广泛传播并且有越来越多地使用,但是许多基于图像的条形码扫描仪由于大多数电子设备上的高度反射的显示屏幕而不能可靠地读取数字条形码。利用单个照明脉冲和相对短的曝光时段来最佳地读取印刷在纸张或者其它物理介质上的条形码,而没有利用照明并且在相对较长的曝光时段下最佳地读取呈现在背光显示器上的条形码。
在各种各样的扫描应用的情况下,包括其中可以将印刷的或者数字条形码呈现给读取器的实例,一个帧和单个照明闪光可能没有可靠地产生最优(即,可解码)的图像。为了涵盖两种可能性,现有条形码读取器固有地要求两个或更多的帧,一个在用于数字条形码的最优条件之下获得,并且一个在用于印刷的条形码的最优条件之下获得。这导致需要卸载和评估多个帧。该方案由于获得多个图像所需要的增加的时间而固有地为缓慢的,即使仅需要两个帧来产生可读取的条形码图像。如果可以在相同帧中涵盖两种可能性,获得任一种类型的条形码的可读取图像的速度将更快。
因此,存在针对基于图像的光学代码读取器的需要,所述光学代码读取器能够读取在单个帧内的多于一个曝光和照明条件集合之下呈现的条形码符号。如果可以在单个帧期间应用多个条件,在将印刷的或者数字条形码呈现给读取器的情况下获得可解码的条形码图像所需要的帧的数目可以减少为单个帧。
发明内容
相应地,在一个方面中,本发明包含一种光学标记读取器,其能够使用在单个帧内的两个或更多优化成像条件之下获得的图像来读取光学标记。光学标记读取器包括具有多个可选择性寻址的像素的图像传感器以用于从读取器的视场获得图像数据。读取器还包括用于照明读取器的视场内的对象的照明器以及处理器。处理器可以控制读取器对图像传感器的两个或更多像素群组进行曝光以便在读取器的单个帧时间内获得多个部分帧图像。
在示例性实施例中,照明器提供分离的照明轮廓而同时对两个像素群组进行曝光。用于第一像素群组的图像设置可以被优化以用于获得印刷在物理基底上的光学标记的图像。照此,在第一像素群组的曝光期间将单个照明脉冲定向至读取器的视场。用于第二像素群组的图像设置可以被优化用于以数字形式显示在电子设备上的光学标记,其中在像素的第二群组的曝光期间没有提供读取器视场的主动(active)照明。用于像素的第一和第二群组的曝光时段发生在单个帧时间内以便提供视场中的每一个区域的独立部分帧图像。处理器处理图像数据的第一和第二部分帧以便识别和解码在单个帧时间内的两个或更多优化成像条件之下呈现的光学标记。
在可替换实施例中,用于图像数据的每一个部分帧的成像条件可以被优化用于相同类型的光学标记。在另一个可替换实施例中,部分帧图像可以与读取器视场的重叠区域交错。
在另一方面中,本发明包含一种基于图像的条形码扫描仪,其能够读取在图像数据的单个帧内的两个或更多成像条件之下呈现的条形码符号。条形码扫描仪包括具有可独立寻址的像素的阵列的图像传感器以及电子快门机构。像素在两个像素群组之间逻辑地划分,并且电子快门机构分离地曝光第一和第二像素群组以便获得图像数据的独立部分帧。

具体实施方式
本发明包含一种基于图像的光学标记读取器(诸如条形码扫描仪),其可操作为在单个帧的计时内成功地读取条形码符号而不管形式(以及最优照明和曝光要求)如何。传统条形码扫描仪中的图像传感器利用全局快门来同时地曝光所有像素,这导致每一帧一个图像。通常,需要两个或更多的帧(每一个在不同的照明条件之下曝光)以获得条形码符号的可读取图像。当前的条形码扫描仪包括具有电子快门机构的图像传感器,所述电子快门机构使得能够在单个帧的计时内分离地且独立地照明和曝光两个或更多的感兴趣区域(ROI)。

在操作中,触发器或者其它致动器可以信令通知处理器102以便从条形码符号可以存在于其中的视场的区域获取第一部分帧图像。处理器102可以采用图像处理算法来定位、识别和解码在该图像中发现的任何条形码符号。

在步骤206中,选择性地分配像素的群组以便形成与每一个区域相关联的部分帧。区域可以交错,以允许区域之间的插补并且扩展图像传感器的动态范围。虽然仍然处在视场118内,但各区域可以以其它方式彼此分离。也可以由条形码读取器100采用重叠区域。
如已经描述的,每一个区域的图像参数(包括照明持续时间和强度以及曝光时段)可以设置为用于印刷的或者数字的条形码符号的最佳成像参数。一个部分帧可以设置用于具有稍微较长的曝光时段的短的(即,小于毫秒的)照明脉冲以用于印刷的条形码符号。第二部分帧可以具有设置用于印刷的条形码符号或者用于数字条形码符号的参数。换句话说,用于两个区域的照明和曝光设置可以优化用于纸张条形码(或者用于数字代码)。在单个帧内产生多个独立的图像的能力是成功地扫描和解码条形码符号的更高效措施。
在步骤208中,独立地设置用于所述两个或更多部分帧的照明轮廓以及用于曝光的开始和停止时间。在一些实例中,区域可以在单个帧内的分离且不同的时间处进行照明和曝光。这样的设置可以用来确保针对一个条形码符号的成像所需的照明不会干扰不同类型的条形码符号的成像。在其它实例中,区域的曝光和/或照明可以重叠。
在关于图4更加详细地讨论的步骤210中,条形码读取器100在单个帧时间内从视场118独立获得曝光的各部分帧图像。成像参数(包括照明强度和持续时间以及像素曝光时间)针对每一个区域独立地设置。用于印刷的和数字的条形码符号的优化成像参数在分离的区域中进行设置。条形码读取器100因而在每一个帧时间内获得在用于印刷的条形码的优化成像条件之下取得的一个图像以及在用于数字条形码的优化成像条件之下取得的另一个图像。利用这种能力,通过消除在执行扫描操作时需要确定条形码类型或者使用两个或更多帧以便获得足够清楚(即,机器可读)的图像来最小化条形码扫描时间。
条形码读取器100可以在两个区域的情况下进行操作,所述两个区域具有用于相同类型条形码(诸如,用于印刷的条形码)的相同或相似的最佳成像参数。在该模式中,条形码读取器100能够在一个帧时间中获得相同条形码符号的两个独立图像,这有效地使相机速度加倍。可以分析包含在单个帧时间内的条形码符号的两个或更多图像以便改进成功解码的可能性。还设想到的是,条形码读取器100可以在一个帧的计时内扫描和解码位于视场118内的两个条形码符号,甚至是在一个数字条形码和一个印刷的条形码的情况下。
在步骤212中,表示两个或更多部分帧图像的整个像素阵列140中的电荷移位并且读出至处理器102或存储器单元104。由图像传感器108获得的图像可以与来自相同ROI的图像、来自不同ROI的分离图像、或者在重叠ROI的情况下的两者的组合交错。在步骤214中,处理图像以便识别和解码部分帧图像中的至少一个中的条形码符号。
图4是图示了用于在单个帧时间内利用条形码读取器100获得两个或更多独立图像的过程200的步骤210的实施例的流程图。在步骤220中,用于与第一区域相关联的像素群组的曝光时段开始。在步骤222中,依照用于一种类型的(例如,纸张印刷的)条形码符号的优化成像参数来照明包括感兴趣的第一区域的视场118。在步骤224中,与第一区域相关联的像素群组的曝光结束。在步骤226中,在帧时间的其余部分内屏蔽与第一部分帧图像相关联的带电像素的进一步曝光,由此产生第一部分帧图像。
在步骤228中,用于与感兴趣的第二区域相关联的像素的曝光时段开始。在步骤230中,依照另一类型的(数字)条形码符号的优化成像参数来照明视场118。在步骤232中,用于与第二部分帧相关联的像素的曝光时段结束。
在示例性操作中,条形码读取器100可以定位为将纸张印刷的条形码120带至视场118内。一进行预确定的触发动作,就在单个帧时间内执行成像过程200。在该时间内,在预设的时间长度内独立地曝光与第一和第二区域相关联的像素群组以便产生第一和第二部分帧。在曝光每一个像素群组的同时,可以依照与每一个区域相关联的优化成像设置来照明视场118。分离地控制用于每一个像素群组的曝光的开始和停止时间以便例如防止获得印刷条形码的图像所需要的照明影响数字条形码的图像的曝光。在单个帧时间内已经成功读取一个条形码之后,可以利用不同的条形码重复相同的过程,所述不同的条形码也将在随后的帧时间内成功地读取。
现在还参照图5,示出了用于在单个帧时间内扫描印刷的条形码120或者数字条形码130的过程200中的步骤210的示例性实施例的所图示的计时图150。在扫描操作期间,在处理器102接收到触发信号之后,条形码读取器100开始执行扫描和解码应用。处理器102利用计时模块124产生在成像过程200期间使用的计时控制信号以便开始和停止针对每一个部分帧图像的曝光。在一个实施例中,与第一区域相关联的像素响应于第一曝光计时信号152的“开启”状态154而开始曝光时段。在第一部分帧图像的曝光时段期间,可以响应于照明计时控制信号166的照明“开启”部分158而激活照明器106。可以控制照明器106以便产生短光脉冲,所述短光脉冲短暂地照明视场118和位于其中的物品。依照用于印刷的条形码符号120的理想成像参数,第一区域的脉冲式照明可以短于1毫秒(1ms)。从印刷的条形码120反射回来的光被第一像素群组捕获以便形成第一部分帧图像。
在说明性计时图150中,可以响应于第一区域的曝光时段已经结束之后的照明“关闭”部分160而激活照明器106。以该方式,从第一区域获得的图像不受针对第二区域所提供的可能照明的影响。电子快门机构140再次响应于第二曝光计时信号168的“开启”状态162而激活以便开始曝光与第二区域相关联的像素群组。图5的计时图150图示了用于印刷的条形码和数字条形码的优化曝光和照明设置。在由处理器102检测到读出信号170中的脉冲164之后,将由两个部分帧图像形成的完整帧移位至存储器单元104。然后可以利用条形码识别、图案识别和解码应用以便获得由每一个代码表示的数据。图5中的示例性帧时间是基于具有每秒六十个帧(60fps)的速度的条形码扫描仪,然而其它帧速率可以是适合的。
取决于诸如纸张的类型、印刷质量、读取距离以及由扫描仪LED产生的光的量之类的因素,典型地在小于1毫秒到几个(约3、4或5个)毫秒内读取纸张条形码。显示在典型手机上的数字条形码通常可以利用大约十个毫秒的曝光进行读取以便得到充足的光。根据本发明的各方面的图像传感器和条形码扫描仪在单个帧内提供两个或更多独立曝光,从而提供了增加的效率和扫描进取性。

Claims (21)
1.一种光学标记读取器,包括:
图像传感器,其具有多个像素以用于从读取器的视场选择性地获得图像数据;
照明器,可操作为照明读取器的视场;以及
处理器,由软件配置为执行存储在存储器中的指令,其中指令使处理器实施以下步骤:
曝光图像传感器的像素的第一群组以便从视场的感兴趣的第一区域获得图像数据的第一部分帧,以及
与像素的第一群组分离地曝光图像传感器的像素的第二群组以便从视场的感兴趣的第二区域获得图像数据的第二部分帧;
其中在单个帧时间内获得图像数据的第一和第二部分帧,并且其中曝光像素的第一群组的步骤与曝光像素的第二群组的步骤具有不同的开始时间和结束时间。
2.根据权利要求1所述的光学标记读取器,其中照明器可操作为在像素的第一和第二群组的曝光步骤期间提供第一和第二照明轮廓。
3.根据权利要求2所述的光学标记读取器,其中第一和第二照明轮廓彼此不同。
4.根据权利要求3所述的光学标记读取器,其中第一和第二照明轮廓中的一个是单个照明脉冲。
5.根据权利要求3所述的光学标记读取器,其中第一和第二照明轮廓中的一个是没有照明脉冲。
6.根据权利要求2所述的光学标记读取器,其中曝光像素的第一群组的步骤发生在第一曝光时段期间,并且曝光像素的第二群组的步骤发生在第二曝光时段期间。
7.根据权利要求6所述的光学标记读取器,其中第一和第二曝光时段在所述单个帧时间内至少部分地重叠。
8.根据权利要求6所述的光学标记读取器,其中第一和第二曝光时段顺序地发生在所述单个帧时间内。
9.根据权利要求6所述的光学标记读取器,其中优化用于像素的第一群组的照明轮廓和曝光时段以用于读取印刷在物理基底上的光学标记。
10.根据权利要求9所述的光学标记读取器,其中优化用于像素的第二群组的照明轮廓和曝光时段以用于读取以电子方式显示的光学标记。
11.根据权利要求1所述的光学标记读取器,其中所述多个像素是可选择性寻址的。
12.根据权利要求1所述的光学标记读取器,其中感兴趣的第一和第二区域的至少部分是交错的。
13.根据权利要求12所述的光学标记读取器,其中感兴趣的第一和第二区域不重叠。
14.根据权利要求1所述的光学标记读取器,其中处理器还实施以下步骤:
处理图像数据的第一和第二部分帧以便识别和解码视觉上描绘于其中的至少一个光学标记。
15.一种呈现在单个帧时间内的两个或更多分离成像条件之下的光学标记的基于图像的读取器,所述读取器包括:
图像传感器,具有在第一和第二像素群组之间分开的多个可寻址像素以及可操作为分离地曝光第一和第二像素群组以便获得图像数据的部分帧的电子快门机构;
照明器,可操作为向视场提供照明;以及
处理器,配置为执行存储在存储器中的指令,其中执行所述指令使所述处理器实施以下步骤中的一个或多个:
将用于第一像素群组的成像设置配置为经优化以用于读取呈现在一种形式中的光学标记的第一预确定的扫描模式,以及
将用于第二像素群组的成像设置配置为经优化以用于读取呈现在另一种形式中的光学标记的第二预确定的扫描模式,
其中针对第一预确定的扫描模式和第二预确定的扫描模式中的每一个的成像设置包括曝光时段,针对该第一预确定的扫描模式的曝光时段与针对该第二预确定的扫描模式的曝光时段具有不同的开始时间和结束时间。
16.根据权利要求15所述的光学标记的基于图像的读取器,其中第一预确定的扫描模式包括经优化以用于读取印刷在物理基底上的光学标记的成像设置,并且第二预确定的扫描模式包括经优化以用于读取利用电子设备以数字方式显示的光学标记的成像设置。
17.根据权利要求16所述的光学标记的基于图像的读取器,其中第一预确定的扫描模式的成像设置包括定向至视场的单个照明脉冲。
18.根据权利要求17所述的光学标记的基于图像的读取器,其中用于第二预确定的扫描模式的成像设置包括用于第二像素群组的曝光时段,该用于第二像素群组的曝光时段具有在第一像素群组已经接收到照明脉冲的反射光之后的开始时间。
19.根据权利要求15所述的光学标记的基于图像的读取器,其中处理器还实施步骤以便:处理图像数据的每一个部分帧以便从利用优化图像设置所获得的图像中的至少一个识别和读取光学标记。
20.一种用于利用从读取器的视场获得的图像数据的单个帧来扫描和解码纸张印刷的和数字的条形码的条形码读取器,所述条形码读取器包括:
具有多个可寻址像素和电子快门机构的图像传感器,其中像素划分为具有视场中的感兴趣的区域的两个或更多像素群组,并且其中电子快门机构可操作为分离地曝光所述两个或更多像素群组以便获得图像数据的部分帧;
照明器,可操作为向视场提供变化的强度和持续时间的照明;以及
处理器,配置为执行存储在存储器中的指令,其中执行所述指令使处理器实施以下步骤中的一个或多个:
将用于第一像素群组的成像设置配置为经优化以用于读取纸张条形码的第一预确定的扫描模式;以及
将用于第二像素群组的成像设置配置为经优化以用于读取数字条形码的第二预确定的扫描模式,
其中针对第一预确定的扫描模式和第二预确定的扫描模式中的每一个的成像设置包括曝光时段,针对该第一预确定的扫描模式的曝光时段与针对该第二预确定的扫描模式的曝光时段具有不同的开始时间和结束时间。
21.根据权利要求20所述的条形码读取器,其中用于第一和第二预确定的扫描模式的成像设置包括曝光时段、照明强度和照明持续时间中的至少一个。
