Abstract
The invention provides an out-of-band management system and an out-of-band management method. The out-of-band management system comprises at least one server, a system network switch, and a system out-of-band management controller. Each server comprises a network card, a server out-of-band management controller, and at least one piece of hardware needing out-of-band management, wherein the server out-of-band management controller is connected with the network card and is used for collecting the out-of-band information of the at least one piece of hardware and sending the out-of-band information to the network card, and the network card is connected with the system network switch through a data link and is used for sending the out-of-band information through the data link to the system network switch. The system network switch is connected with the system out-of-band management controller, and is used for sending the out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller. The system out-of-band management controller is used for conducting out-of-band management of the at least one server according to the out-of-band information. According to the scheme, the production cost of the out-of-band management system is lowered.
Description
Technical Field
The invention relates to the technical field of servers, in particular to an out-of-band management system and method.
Background
The out-of-band management means that management control information of the network and service information are transmitted through different logical channels. The management control information under the out-of-band management mode is independent of the service network connection of the managed equipment, and can be used for emergency rescue of the managed equipment, so that the management control information is widely applied to the fields of data center centralized management, branch network remote management and the like.
At present, when a server out-of-band management system is designed, the server out-of-band management system is generally designed according to the requirements of a user on the server out-of-band management. However, since different users have different requirements for out-of-band management of the server, this leads to an increase in the generation cost of the server manufacturer when generating the server.
Disclosure of Invention
The embodiment of the invention provides an out-of-band management system and method, which are used for reducing the cost of the out-of-band management system.
In a first aspect, an embodiment of the present invention provides an out-of-band management system, including: at least one server, a system network switch, and a system out-of-band management controller; wherein,

the network card is connected with the system network switch through a data link and is used for receiving the out-of-band information sent by the server out-of-band management controller connected with the network card in the server and sending the received out-of-band information to the system network switch through the data link connected with the system network switch;
the system network switch is connected with the system out-of-band management controller and is used for sending out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller;
and the system out-of-band management controller is used for realizing out-of-band management on the at least one server according to the received out-of-band information.
Preferably, each server further comprises: and the first interface is used for connecting the baseboard management controller BMC.

Preferably, when each server is connected with a BMC through a first interface thereof, the server out-of-band management controller is the connected BMC;

Preferably, the system out-of-band management controller is connected to the system network switch through a second interface on the system network switch.

In a second aspect, an embodiment of the present invention further provides an out-of-band management method based on any one of the above-mentioned out-of-band management systems, including:
the server out-of-band management controller collects out-of-band information of at least one piece of hardware needing out-of-band management in the server to which the server belongs and sends the out-of-band information to a network card in the server to which the server belongs;
the network card sends the received out-of-band information to a system network switch through a data link;
the system network switch sends the out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller;
and the system out-of-band management controller carries out-of-band management on the server according to the received out-of-band information.

Detailed Description
In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present invention clearer and more complete, the technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are some, but not all, embodiments of the present invention, and based on the embodiments of the present invention, all other embodiments obtained by a person of ordinary skill in the art without creative efforts belong to the scope of the present invention.
As shown in fig. 1, an embodiment of the present invention provides an out-of-band management system, which may include the following:
at least one server 10, a system network switch 20, and a system out-of-band management controller 30; wherein,
in each server 10, there are included: the system comprises a network card 101, a server out-of-band management controller 102 and at least one piece of hardware 103 needing out-of-band management;
the server out-of-band management controller 102 is connected with the network card 101 in the server 10, is connected with at least one piece of hardware 103 which needs to be subjected to out-of-band management in the server 10, and is used for acquiring out-of-band information of the at least one piece of hardware 103 and sending the acquired out-of-band information to the network card 101 connected with the server out-of-band management controller 102;
a network card 101, connected to the system network switch 20 through a data link, for receiving out-of-band information sent by a server out-of-band management controller 102 connected to the network card 101 in the server 10, and sending the received out-of-band information to the system network switch 20 through the data link connected to the system network switch 20;
the system network switch 20 is connected to the system out-of-band management controller 30, and configured to send out-of-band information sent by each network card 101 to the system out-of-band management controller 30;
the system out-of-band management controller 30 is configured to implement out-of-band management on the at least one server 10 according to the received out-of-band information.
It can be seen that, according to the out-of-band management system provided in the above embodiment, when sending out-of-band information to the system out-of-band management controller, the server out-of-band management controller multiplexes the data link between the network card and the system network switch, and when designing the out-of-band management system, a logical channel does not need to be established between the out-of-band management controller and the system out-of-band management controller, but a part of the bandwidth of the data link between the network card and the system network switch is multiplexed to transmit the out-of-band information, so that the cost of the out-of.
In the existing out-of-band management system, a network card is connected with a system network switch through a data link, the network card sends data information to the system network switch through the data link, and the system network switch realizes service processing according to the data information; the server out-of-band management controller is connected with the system out-of-band management controller through another logical link, the server out-of-band management controller sends out-of-band information to the system out-of-band management controller through the logical link, and the system out-of-band management controller carries out-of-band management on the plurality of servers according to the out-of-band information.
In order to reduce the cost of the existing out-of-band management system, a logical link between the server out-of-band management controller 103 and the system out-of-band management controller 30 may be omitted, when the out-of-band information needs to be transmitted, a data link between the network card 101 and the system network switch 20 is multiplexed to transmit the out-of-band information, and the system out-of-band management controller 30 acquires the out-of-band information from the system network switch 20 by connecting the system network switch 20 and the system out-of-band management controller 30, so that the out-of-band management of at least one server 10 may be realized, and the production cost of the out-of-band management system.
In one embodiment of the invention, the at least one hardware 103 may include, but is not limited to, the following: mainboard, CPU, power, temperature sensor and fan.
The state information of the at least one hardware 103 collected by the server out-of-band management controller 102 may include: temperature information of the motherboard, CPU temperature, power consumption, power status, temperature on the temperature sensor board, fan speed, etc. The server out-of-band management controller 102 is utilized to collect and monitor the state information of the at least one hardware 103, so that the normal operation of the server can be ensured.
Referring to fig. 2, in an embodiment of the invention, in order to further reduce the production cost of the out-of-band Management system, a first interface 104 may be disposed in each server 10, where the first interface 104 is used to connect to a BMC (Baseboard Management Controller). The BMC can not only realize the function of acquiring the state information, but also provide strong VGA requirements for users.
The first interface 104 may include, but is not limited to, the following interfaces: USB interface and PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) slot. In this embodiment, the first interface 104 is connected to the at least one hardware 103.
When a manufacturer of the out-of-band management system designs the out-of-band management system, the first interface 104 may be disposed in the out-of-band management system to meet different requirements of users for the out-of-band management system.
In this embodiment, the requirement of the out-of-band management system by the user may include the following two aspects:
aspect A: the user has low VGA (Video Graphics Array) requirements for the out-of-band management system.
Aspect B: the VGA requirements of users for out-of-band management systems are high.
The out-of-band management system will be described in detail below with respect to the above two aspects, respectively.
For aspect a:
in aspect a, in an embodiment of the present invention, if the user has low requirements for VGA (Video Graphics Array) of the out-of-band management system, the user does not need to connect the BMC to the first interface 104.
In aspect a, referring to fig. 2, in an embodiment of the present invention, the server 10 further includes: an ME (Management Engine) unit 105 connected to the network card 101. The ME unit 105 is a unit carried by the server 10, and the ME unit 105 is connected to at least one hardware 103 in the server 10, and is configured to backup the state information in each hardware 103.
In aspect a, when the BMC is not connected to the first interface 104 in the out-of-band management system, in an embodiment of the present invention, the ME unit 105 may be configured by the CPU, so that the ME unit 105 implements a state collection function for at least one hardware 103 connected to the ME unit 105, and at this time, the server out-of-band management controller 102 includes the ME unit 105. That is, when the manufacturer of the out-of-band management system produces the out-of-band management system, the manufacturer may only need to configure the ME unit 105 to replace the function of the out-of-band management controller of the server without additionally designing the out-of-band management controller of the server.
For aspect B: in aspect B, in an embodiment of the present invention, if the VGA requirement of the out-of-band management system is high, the user needs to connect the BMC to the first interface 104.
In aspect B, since the ME unit 105 has a weak function of collecting the state information of the at least one hardware 103, referring to fig. 3, in an embodiment of the present invention, the server 10 may further include: a BMC 106 coupled to the first interface 104.
In aspect B, since the first interface 104 is connected to at least one hardware 103, in an embodiment of the present invention, the BMC 106 may be configured by the CPU, so that the BMC 106 implements a state collection function for the at least one hardware 103 connected to the first interface 104, and at this time, the server out-of-band management controller 102 includes the BMC 106. That is, when the out-of-band management system is produced by the out-of-band management system manufacturer, the BMC needs to be connected to the first interface 104 to implement the function of the server out-of-band management controller.
In aspect B, the Network card 101 in each server 10 includes an NCSI (Network controller side Interface), and in each server 10, the Network card 101 is connected to the BMC 106 through the NCSI.
Regardless of the above aspect a or B, in an embodiment of the present invention, in the out-of-band management system, the out-of-band management of at least one server 10 in the out-of-band management system is implemented by using the out-of-band information sent by each server 10 by the system out-of-band management controller 30.
The out-of-band management implemented by the system out-of-band management controller 30 may include: the system power is managed out-of-band based on out-of-band information sent by each server 10 and/or devices, such as fans, shared by at least one server 10.
Since the network card 101 is connected to the system network switch 20 through a data link, the network card 101 sends data information to the system network switch 20 through the data link to implement service transmission, and therefore, referring to fig. 4, the system network switch 20 may include: the switching chip 201 is configured to implement service processing on data information sent by at least one server 10.
The out-of-band information sent by the server out-of-band management controller 102 through the network card 101 by using the data link needs to be processed by the system out-of-band management controller 30, and therefore, the switch chip 201 is further used for sending the out-of-band information sent by the network card 101 to the system out-of-band management controller 30.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the system network switch 20 may further include: and a second interface 202, through which the system out-of-band management controller 30 is connected to the switch chip 201 in the system network switch 20.
Wherein, the second interface 202 may include but is not limited to: USB interface and PCI slot.
In order to further reduce the cost of the out-of-band management system, in one embodiment of the present invention, referring to fig. 5, the system out-of-band management controller 30 is located in the system network switch 20, i.e., the functions implemented by the system out-of-band management controller 30 are integrated in the system network switch 20.
Further, the out-of-band management controller 30 may be further configured to provide external interfaces, which may include serial interfaces, network interfaces, kvm (keyboard Video mouse), USB interfaces, and the like.
In summary, when a manufacturer of the out-of-band management system designs and produces the out-of-band management system, only the first interface needs to be designed in each server, and then whether the BMC is connected to the first interface is determined according to user requirements, so that the production cost of the out-of-band management system can be reduced.
In order to make the out-of-band management system provided by the embodiment of the present invention clearer, the present invention is further described in detail with reference to the method embodiment.
As shown in fig. 6, an out-of-band management method according to an embodiment of the present invention may include:
step 601: the server out-of-band management controller collects out-of-band information of at least one piece of hardware needing out-of-band management in the server to which the server belongs and sends the out-of-band information to a network card in the server to which the server belongs.
Step 602: the network card sends the received out-of-band information to a system network switch through a data link.
Step 603: and the system network switch sends the out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller.
Step 604: and the system out-of-band management controller carries out-of-band management on the server according to the received out-of-band information.
According to the method embodiment, the out-of-band information collected by the server out-of-band management controller is sent to the system network switch through the network card by using the data link and is forwarded to the system out-of-band management controller through the system network switch, and the transmission of the out-of-band information can be realized without designing a logic channel between the server out-of-band management controller and the system out-of-band management controller in the out-of-band management system, so that the cost of the out-of-band management system is reduced.
In the following, by providing an out-of-band management method to explain in detail the function implementation of the out-of-band management system after leaving the factory, please refer to fig. 7, the method may include the following steps:
step 701: determining whether a BMC needs to be connected to the first interface of each server according to user requirements, if so, executing step 702, otherwise, executing step 704.
Step 702: the BMC is connected to the first interface of each server, and each BMC is configured by the CPU, so that each BMC can acquire the state of each hardware connected to the BMC, and step 703 is executed.
Step 703: each BMC collects the out-of-band information of each hardware connected to it in the server to which it belongs, and sends the out-of-band information to the network card, and performs step 706.
Step 704: the ME unit in each server is configured by the CPU so that each ME unit can implement state collection for each hardware connected thereto, and step 705 is performed.
Step 705: each ME unit collects the out-of-band information of each hardware connected to it in the server to which it belongs, and sends the out-of-band information to the network card, and executes step 706.
Step 706: the network card sends the received out-of-band information to a switching chip in the system network switch through a data link between the network card and the system network switch.
Step 707: and the exchange chip sends the received out-of-band information to the system out-of-band management controller.
Step 708: and the system out-of-band management controller realizes out-of-band management on at least one server according to the out-of-band information.
In summary, the embodiments of the present invention can at least achieve the following beneficial effects:
1. in the embodiment of the invention, when the server out-of-band management controller sends out-of-band information to the system out-of-band management controller, the data link between the network card and the system network switch is multiplexed, and when the out-of-band management system is designed, a logic channel is not required to be constructed between the out-of-band management controller and the system out-of-band management controller, but a part of bandwidth of the data link between the network card and the system network switch is multiplexed to transmit the out-of-band information, so that the cost of the out-of-band management system can be reduced.

3. In the embodiment of the invention, the system out-of-band management controller is integrated in the system network switch, so that the production cost of the out-of-band management system can be further reduced.

the server out-of-band management controller is connected with the network card in the server and at least one piece of hardware needing out-of-band management in the server and is used for acquiring out-of-band information of the at least one piece of hardware and sending the acquired out-of-band information to the network card connected with the server out of band management controller;
the network card is connected with the system network switch through a data link and is used for receiving the out-of-band information sent by the server out-of-band management controller connected with the network card in the server and sending the received out-of-band information to the system network switch through the data link connected with the system network switch;
the system network switch is connected with the system out-of-band management controller and is used for sending out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller;
and the system out-of-band management controller is used for realizing out-of-band management on the at least one server according to the received out-of-band information.
2. The out-of-band management system of claim 1,
further comprising in each server: and the first interface is used for connecting the baseboard management controller BMC.
3. The out-of-band management system of claim 2, wherein the first interface comprises: USB interface or PCI slot.

the server out-of-band management controller collects out-of-band information of at least one piece of hardware needing out-of-band management in the server to which the server belongs and sends the out-of-band information to a network card in the server to which the server belongs;
the network card sends the received out-of-band information to a system network switch through a data link;
the system network switch sends the out-of-band information sent by each network card to the system out-of-band management controller;
and the system out-of-band management controller carries out-of-band management on the server according to the received out-of-band information.
