Abstract

Papermaking machine has a pressure sensor in the pulp outlet channel to determine the static pressure of the pulp. The pressure signal is supplied to a comparator to give variable signal which regulates the pulp supply passing through the feed pipe. A measuring device, esp. a liquid manometer with an indicating element is connected to the pipe carrying the set value pressure signal. The element can be moved over a diagram which can be displaced at right angles to that motion as a function of the magnitude of the pulp outlet slit. The diagram also serves to indicate the dependence of the pressure in the pulp outlet channel on the slit height for various given outflow velocities of the pulp. Device permits a simple determination of the pulp outflow velocity from the outflow channel for various values of outlet slit height, even though velocity is dependent on the ratio of static to dynamic pressure which varies with slit height. The system can be used to give close control of the pulp feed rate.
