Abstract

a presente invenção se trata de um processo aperfeiçoado de fabricação de propileno glicol bioderivado a partir de uma composição de alimentação incluindo pelo menos um de ácido lático, glicerol, um açúcar de cinco carbonos, um álcool de açúcar de cinco carbonos, um açúcar de seis carbonos e um álcool de açúcar de seis carbonos, em que a produção de dióis de quatro carbonos e de cadeia mais longa é reduzida por adição de base após o início da reação. em modalidades preferenciais, o ph do processo e outras condições do processo são inicialmente estabelecidos em valores pretendidos para obter a conversão mais elevada para um determinado catalisador consistente com a produção de substancialmente nenhuns produtos secundários de pentanodiol na mistura de produtos, e base é adicionada posteriormente para controlar o ph do processo próximo do valor inicialmente pretendido.
