Description
01/03/2006 10:21 0294204087 BLUECROSS PAGE 02 Complete Specification Innovation Patent BLUECROSS SAFETYBAND SERVICE The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us: COMS ID No: SBMI-02826924 Received by IP Australia: Time 10:27 Date 2006-03-01 01/03/2006 10:21 0294204087 BLUECROSS PAGE 03 \N 2 SAFETYBAND SERVICE SIntroduction o Australia currently does not have a low cost, national, 24 houri365 day service that provides emergency carers with the following information about injured, or lost, adults and children: V 1. Basic identity information about the person who is injured or lost (name, brief 0 physical description, etc) o 2. Emergency contact information for the person who is injured or lost, e.g. the telephone numbers of next of kin, friends, relatives, parents, carers and/or people V' who should be contacted in an emergency o 3. Critical care information if relevant allergies, essential medications, comfort Sinstructions, etc).
Our service, called 'BlueCross SafetyBand', provides the above information via a simple, but secure telephone voice mail system in a matter of seconds.
We have invented this service in order to provide the Australian community with a simple, cheap, effective, flexible and intuitive service that: 1. Reduces the trauma associated with being either hurt or lost 2. Improves triage services administered to injured people 3. Enables users to control the information available to emergency carers.
There are two functions of the service: 1. A primary function which is a safety service function 2. A secondary fund raising function.
These are described below.
Safety Service Primarily, BlueCross SafetyBand is a safety service that involves children and adults wearing a colourful and distinctive silicon wristband. Silicon wristbands are increasingly being worn by celebrities, sportspeople, politicians and just about everyone. We call our wristband a 'SafetyBand' because of its distinctive BlueCross brand and its central purpose safety.
Each SafetyBand is unique and is linked to a very simple and secure voice mail system. Each SafetyBand has a special number on the inside of the SafetyBand. This number is linked to secure voice mailbox system in which wearers, parents or carers record critical contact and other information that emergency carers may need in an emergency involving the wearer who may be an adult or child.
COMS ID No: SBMI-02826924 Received by IP Australia: Time 10:27 Date 2006-03-01 01/03/2006 10:21 0294204087 BLUECROSS PAGE 04 \D 3 0 0 Fundraisino SThe other reason why we created the BlueCross Safety service is to help raise funds for public schools and charities. This is because we, as parents, are constantly engaged in fund raising activities and are sensitive to the needs of public schools and charities for additional money.
For each SafetyBand purchased a donation is automatically credited to a public school Sor charity nominated by the purchaser.
S Operation of the Service o People wear a SafetyBand.
S If a child or adult is lost or hurt, emergency contact and other safety information can be o accessed by an emergency carer in seconds by using the SafetyBand.
This is how it works in an emergency: 1. Firstly, the emergency carer calls a local telephone number that is debossed (engraved) on the inside of the SafetyBand. A communications programme will be implemented to advise emergency carers (fire brigade, police, ambulance, etc) about the BlueCross SafetyBand service 3 weeks prior to commencing the sales programme.
2. Secondly, a voice prompt will ask the emergency carer to enter the unique 9 digit identification number also debossed on the inside of the SafetyBand. Both numbers will be clearly distinguished by print label prefixing (Ph. and ID) on the production SafetyBands.
3. Finally, the emergency carer will listen and act upon the information that has been recorded by the purchaser or carer.
So in seconds, emergency contact and safety information that was recorded by the purchaser or carer is played to the emergency carer on their telephone.
This information can only be recorded by the purchaser or carer by using a PassCode which is supplied with the SafetyBand when purchased. This PassCode is a 4 digit number that is unique to each SafetyBand.
Instructions for use and suggestions for recording information are also supplied with each SafetyBand when purchased.
The service can be used 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
