Im öffentlichen Bereich werden Bodenleuchten als Orientierungshilfen, Begrenzungsmarkierungen oder als architektonisch gestalterische Stilelemente verwendet. Die derzeitig eingesetzten Leuchten werden beinahe ausschließlich von oben in vorgebohrte Öffnungen des Straßenbelages montiert und ein auf der Straßenoberfläche aufliegender Flansch wird mittels Dübel in der Oberfläche verankert. Als Alternativen sind derzeit mit dem Pflasterstein komplett vergossene Leuchten in Verwendung. Das Abdeckglas (D) ist in einem ausgedrehten Bereich an der Oberseite des Formrohres eingeklebt.
