   Bei Dampfkesselfeuerungen bildet sich an der Heizfläche insbesondere bei der Verwendung von schwefelhaltiger Braunkohle ein zäher Belag, der den Wärmeübergang beeinträchtigt und deshalb von Zeit zu Zeit entfernt werden muss. Dieser Belag setzt der mechanischen Reinigung einen beträchtlichen Widerstand entgegen, so dass die Instandhaltung der Feuerungen mit viel Mühe und hohen Kosten verbunden ist.
