Abstract

Advantageously, the system can process soil material samples in the 'as collected' condition without drying or crushing them. The system generally includes a sample preparation subsystem that receives samples of soil material collected by a sample collection probe subsystem and produces a suspension (i.e., a mixture of soil material, vegetation and/or manure and water), and a chemical analysis subsystem that processes the prepared suspension samples to quantify multiple analytes and/or chemical properties of the sample. The sample preparation and chemical analysis subsystems can be used to analyze soils, vegetation and/or other samples. A soil material collection system is described that captures and directs samples to the sampling system for processing.
