Abstract

The invention relates to an adaptive man/machine interface. It comprises discrimination cells (1a, ..., la"' et 1b, ..., 1b') according to the degree of knowledge of the machine by the user, a visual interface module (2) enabling a plurality of levels of functional states (FLi) of the machine to be displayed, and an adaptive system (2, 3, 4, 8) for selection of the functional states of the machine ( SIGMA ) according to the discriminated degree of knowledge of the machine by the user in order to establish a current configuration for said machine. The invention can be used with state machines such as telephone terminals, car radios, TV remote controls and computers.
